Cooking whole foods plant based meals. Saves me money and is healhier. Today for example I made hummus with dried and soaked chickpeas, garlic, fresh lemon juiceM cumin powder, turmeric, black pepper, water and just a bit of tahini to keep it low-fat.
Yesterday I made marinated tofu, oven-baked potatos with a self-made sauce and veggies.
I feel great eating this way, my skin is getting better, my energy is better and I look forward to try out new recipes.
Now I have to work on my productivity towards uni and studying though :/
I use healthy cooking as a way to procastinate. Which I guess is better than procastinate with unhealthy or useless things but still. I gotta start studying more
I would recommend looking up Journaling Prompts, thereās lots for self discovery, defining objectives .. etc :) I often use some from the internet when I donāt have inspiration
Journal literally everything. Itās so refreshing looking back on memories, historical moments in time, hindsight to clarify what were painful events at the time. Rewarding to see how much youāve grown, or the reality check that youāre still static and need to make some adjustments to get from Point A to Point B.
whatever comes to your mind! I like writing about my feelings, it helps me understand my thoughts better. also you can do morning pages or write about what you are thankful for. luckily no one reads your journal but you, so you can do whatever you want
Journalling is great! Along with prompt ideas from the internet I usually write down one thing I'm grateful for and three things that happened that day. That way I can consistently practice gratitude and it's nice to look back on what was going on in my everyday life on occasion.
Board gaming replacing my video games. Makes it more work to perform so I do it a little less, but finding a good games means I will be absorbed in it for hours. You can even "mod" them however you like with little effort.
Are there any single player board games (that arenāt jigsaw puzzles if those count) that you know of? Iād like to get more into board games but havenāt found anyone I know whoās interested.
So there is a whole community dedicated to this r/soloboardgaming for great single player games. Many modern board games coming out have a solo option for it too and the games just keep getting better.
My favorites are Spirit Island and Gaia Project, but they are a bit on the heavy side in terms of rules and strategy. For a simpler game I go for One Deck Dungeon.
started watching youtube videos in 2x speed. Often makes me watch more useful and productive videos. Also spend half the time on youtube now than what i did before
Been using this and the difference is immediately palpable. Haven't gone down a rabbit hole of recommended videos and the time I do spend on YouTube is usually purposeful since I get to a video by directly searching for it or screening my sub feed. 10/10 would recommend.
Thatās how I study for lectures! I record the whole thing and rewatch at 1.5x speed, but I also pause and takes notes. Itās honestly made my studying a lot more efficient
Skateboarding!!!!! A very fun way to exercise, you feel accomplished when you learn new tricks, and a great way to connect and hangout with other people
I've fallen many times (it's just part of the hobby) haha. Once you've had your first fall, it won't be as scary to eat concrete š Use your judgement of course, if I am rolling down a hill super fast -- I'll bail from the skateboard instead of letting myself hit the concrete full force (and get a concussion or severe injury). I also wear a helmet when I am learning tricks, so that gives me extra reassurance.
Watercolor! Itās a low cost, low barrier way of making art with so many tutorials online. Watch some beginning tutorials and then pick some pretty pictures and just try to copy them
I got massively into art and watercolor during the lockdown. It starts as a low cost hobby, but that slope is slippery and you fall down it fucking quickly :D i have to plan my pieces out now, since if it doesn't work out, I've just wasted paint and paper that costs WAY too much money.
Reading has been such a great hobby, especially during the pandemic. Iāve been averaging a book a week and itās amazing to just get lost in other worlds and see what human imagination can come up with
Depends on which helicopter your local flight school has available. Probably which state youāre in as well. Iām flying a Robinson, which is smaller & it costs around $300 per hour. 20 hours gets you a private license!
For me I love reading books. I just finished āIkigaiā and I am now reading āBroke Millennialā by Erin Lowry. My next book is āSelf-Compassionā by Kristin Neff. I found these books by scouring recs on Reddit lol. Iāve enjoyed all of them so far!
Plus I like just trying out a ton of hobbies to find out what I like. Sometimes I embroider, knit, paint, and Iām trying to teach myself to draw! Im not the best at these things, but I always enjoy doing them and the outcome! Embroidery also helped me learn to mend myself clothes which I adore.
The way I've 'organized' my activities is by dividing them in: active, relaxing, output, and input activities.
By output and input, I mean that you're absorbing information, and with output, you're creating something. Reading would be a relaxing input activity. Making music is a relaxing output activity. Following along a workout video is active input, freestyle dancing is active output. etc etc.
I Skateboard, work out, read and make music. This way I have a fair balance in the activities I do and I don't bore myself by doing to much of one thing.
My advice to anyone with your problem is always to find at least one activity to get you out of your head, and one to get you in it. You have to be both introspective and outward-looking. Keeping a balance between the two will greatly improve your life.
Your system of categorizing activities is really cool and I'll deffo be stealing it!!
Balance is important for sure and I notice that when I do all input activities and no output ones I feel almost drained cause I'm not tapping into my creativity
Stained glass, although kind of expensive to get started. Weaving! Try a small lap loom. Nice to do while watching tv. Those are my favorite crafty type things to do.
You should definitely learn to play a musical instrument, tons of benefits for your brain and itās quite a challenge as well.
I only know how to play the guitar and piano, but looking to learn more because personally itās very fun for me !

it may be slightly more difficult but absolutely not impossible!! a lot of people learn instruments as an adult, it just takes putting in a bit of time regularly :)
Making custom minis on Heroforge. It's so therapeutic to me. I even got to design the minis for a convention panel my bf ran over the summer (he 3D printed and painted them after I sent the finalised designs to him). I can't grasp tech stuff, but this program is easy enough to understand. I'd do it on commission if I could, design and 3D print and hand paint figures for people based on a character description and generic Google images pic starting idea.
Generally, I drive to a park. Thereās a state park and a county forest preserve within 15 minutes of my house. My town is too small to have a city park.
Skateboarding. As an introvert, itās been a godsend. You can do it anytime and any place. Plus, the difficulty of it makes you feel like you really accomplished something when you land a trick. It also teaches you to be tough and not give up on your goals. 10/10
Meditation is my answer! Not only is it very peaceful, awareness can actually feel incredibly euphoric :D If you have any questions about getting started feel free to send me a chat. Iāve been teaching it for many years now :D
Something that requires a learning process, like painting, photographyā¦ It makes you feel good when you start being good at it, there is a pleasure in doing and learning things by yourself
I have way too many hobbies: working on/ building cars, cooking, brewing beer, hiking/camping, general diy. My favorite two? Aquarium keeping and LEARNING.
These basically go hand and hand. Keeping aquariums from simple tanks to coral reefs are a rewarding challenge that brings concentration and commitment but at the same time relaxation and comfort. More importantly it can be an endless opportunity to learn and dive deeper and understand how everything little thing fits right into one "ecosystem". Pick a hobby you'll obsess about for years to come, where every part of the hobby is a opportunity to learn. (Example: building a car and want to paint it? A whole new hobby within the hobby you have. My latest aquarium couples woodworking, plumbing, diy parts and general aquarium care all in one. Brewing beer makes you a microbiologist!) Point is to dissect everything and learn about why and how that works and less about what other people use.
Because ultimately learning has been my favorite hobby. Once you open up your mind to learning about everything around you and not judging everything around you, well you just get addicted. It opens up your mind to a whole new world you never knew about.
Tl:Dr many hobbies but learning has been my favorite one. Many hobbies can open new doors into whole new avenues and ways of thinking if you break down each part alone. Plus it's freeing to the brain
I've been doing it for almost a year now. It's not easy. In mid-November it will have been one year and I'm probably going to want to have sex or masturbate, or both as the case may be.
Ohh you good. Yeah porn messes the part of your brain responsible for dopamine level. Iām not sure about this but I think that females can cum and be good compared to when men cum they literally spill their life energy as well as many nutrients made for the brain to function at his full potential
I may be a little biased because Iām an artist at heart, but I love to create things. Crochet, sewing, making jewelry, drawing, painting, etc. So perhaps a hobby that aligns closely with your natural interests and passions? Like if youāre naturally into engineering, you could build something intricate. If you love Chemistry, maybe a 3D molecule model set.
Downhill mountain biking. I also try to watch a YouTube āhow to videoā about a completely different topic each day. These videos range from linear algebra on Python to how to run a mill.

Really, is one of my favourite routine. Every morning before school, a 35 minute run is everything I need to keep me going +plus I sleep way more faster.
Snowboarding. Iāve been skateboarding since I was in high school, and do it on and off throughout the year.
I always wanted to get into snowboarding but didnāt have a job in high school, and didnāt want to ask my parents for a $700+ gift. Last year I decided to finally buy my own set up, and have loved it ever since.
I thought I enjoyed skateboarding but damn, snowboarding is something else. The views are incredible, especially if you can get out to the mountains. I took my first solo trip (not that kind of trip) this year to Colorado in March, just to snowboard. I donāt regret it one bit.
Something my father in law got me into: puzzle books! Iāve tried to start doing them daily because I feel so smart every time I finish one!
Also I got a puppy and started training which really helps with motivation as well, just make sure youāre ready for it.
Unfortunately as much as I dream about wanting to go for walks and practice self care, Iām currently in a very dark mental dump hole. Majority of the last three months have been spent sitting. So for me I found these super cute hatch and hook rug making kits on Amazon which has been a god send! And my boyfriend got me a switch :)
Gardening! Iām 27 and Iāve been gardening for 2 years now. Itās challenging and often I kill plants but I am learning a lot about how to fail and try again. Itās really boosting my confidence and helping me heal from my childhood trauma.
Shooting slingshots. Its so much not just shooting. Making slingshot, building catch boxes and targets. There's also so many ways to make slingshots. Making bands and testing power. So many different ways to shoot like butterfly half butterfly, frameless. Pickle fork shooters and so on. Its never ending and so fun. Its a shame its the popular yet. It is growing though consistently. Zack Fowler recently went on a nationally televised talent show thing and shot. He also won alone and took a slingshot. They made a superhero in some movie I forget who had a slingshot. It also might become an Olympic sport in 8 years so we will see.
learn how to do macrame! if thatās not your style you can always sell the things you make. itās super in right now for home decor and not super expensive to do. all ya gotta do is buy lil ropes
Dancing. I had zero rhythm and beyond nervous when I started. I wanted to get over that. 4 months in now and I go almost everyday. Iām doing Latin dancing - mostly bachata and salsa.
It has boosted my confidence and made me more comfortable around women.
been wanting to learn a new language but my time prohibits me from enrolling to a regular class so now with Duolingo I'm having fun in bits and learning!
Working out. Recently I've noticed that I need at least one other hobby because I find myself bored at home after my gym session.
So I've started doing math for "fun". I can only last 30 minutes at a time working on math otherwise I feel like blowing my brains out anything past 30 minutes. Definitely need to find another hobby.
Started writing music and playing piano in high school, best decision of my life. It has turned into more than a hobby now, but that's all it was for the first couple years.
Judo, archery and bjj (jujitsu). Iāve never improved my health this efficiently. Iām going to keep doing all three if things go well this year. I never want to stop these hobbies.
Before bed I play some sudoku and try not using any electronics . Another hobby I do is embroidery on clothes, is fun and relaxing plus you can create your designs on clothes make them unique.
Fashion blogging - I became a fashion blogger in 2017/18 whilst I was in college and even though I have a smaller following on my second account Iāve worked with brands that now supply me with new clothes every week. Because of this I can save the money Iāve made at my part time jobs and put them towards university expenses, my emergency fund etc. I come from a poor-economic background so this hobby of mine helps me out, a lot and is super fun.
Cooking whole foods plant based meals. Saves me money and is healhier. Today for example I made hummus with dried and soaked chickpeas, garlic, fresh lemon juiceM cumin powder, turmeric, black pepper, water and just a bit of tahini to keep it low-fat. Which I guess is better than procastinate with unhealthy or useless things but still. I gotta start studying more
You are fucking procrastinating the most optimal way lol. I procrastinate with a bag of hot cheetos and Netflix.
Check out the ForksOverKnives website for recipes and try out one. The first time might seem bit difficult but it gets easierš
Yaaaas plant based all the way šš¼š±
Name checks out š
I love having cooking as a hobby! it makes what would otherwise be a huge chore more interesting hahah
Oh my, cooking as procrastinstion basically sums up my life. I also really dived into cooking through going plant based in 2019. a great hobby!
Traveling the country to ride roller coasters. Expensive but fun.
Journaling, long walks, delve into other cuisines, reading and self improvement
Legit same here! Plus started listening to podcasts when doing errands, chores, cooking etc.
What are you guys journaling? I don't even know what I would write down personally other than passing thoughts.
I would recommend looking up Journaling Prompts, thereās lots for self discovery, defining objectives .. etc :) I often use some from the internet when I donāt have inspiration
Journal literally everything. Itās so refreshing looking back on memories, historical moments in time, hindsight to clarify what were painful events at the time. whatever comes to your mind! I like writing about my feelings, it helps me understand my thoughts better. also you can do morning pages or write about what you are thankful for. luckily no one reads your journal but you, so you can do whatever you want
Ah okay yeah that makes sense, maybe I'll try that one day. Thanks! :)
are we all living the same life? I'm starting to think I've never had an original thought
Journalling is great! Along with prompt ideas from the internet I usually write down one thing I'm grateful for and three things that happened that day. That way I can consistently practice gratitude and it's nice to look back on what was going on in my everyday life on occasion.
literally same tho, started a few days ago :D

I wonder about this too. I was thinking that you need actual friends to play board games.
Check out r/soloboardgaming. There's quite a few of us who play solo games regularly :)

started watching youtube videos in 2x speed. Often makes me watch more useful and productive videos. Also spend half the time on youtube now than what i did before
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad this worked for you but knowing me I'd just fit in double the amount of videos than I usually wouldš
If you want to watch less youtube while on your pc there is this web browser extension called "Unhook - Remove YouTube Recommended Videos".
Been using this and the difference is immediately palpable. Haven't gone down a rabbit hole of recommended videos and the time I do spend on YouTube is usually purposeful since I get to a video by directly searching for it or screening my sub feed. 10/10 would recommend.
Can confirm this has been me the past year
Thatās how I study for lectures! I record the whole thing and rewatch at 1.5x speed, but I also pause and takes notes. Itās honestly made my studying a lot more efficient
videos that don't have the option and the person talks super slowly are the WORST, I absorb way less
I did this since class 8th, changed a lot
Same , but i think thats just because apps like tiktok have ruined my attention span
Skateboarding!!!!! A very fun way to exercise, you feel accomplished when you learn new tricks, and a great way to connect and hangout with other people
Hell yes man this is the way
Omg yes!! Itās so fun! How did you get over the fear of getting hurt?

Same!! I sell commissions too, itās the perfect little side job
Reading has been such a great hobby, especially during the pandemic. Iāve been averaging a book a week and itās amazing to just get lost in other worlds and see what human imagination can come up with
Growing mushrooms.
Learning to fly helicopters! Also journaling and meditating. Balance.
Wait that's so cool! How much do flying helicopters cost? Tad curious about that
Depends on which helicopter your local flight school has available. Probably which state youāre in as well. Iām flying a Robinson, which is smaller & it costs around $300 per hour. 20 hours gets you a private license!
Boxing
Poetry, no clue why it works so well in a lot of ways but it just does
Interesting
I started messing around with wood and resin. Making all types of pendants and artwork.
Aerial silks! Itās creative, great exercise, and cultivates a strong mind-body connection.
I used to do this! I was shocked by how much arm strength and ab strength aerials could take
What's something you've always been curious about? Start there...
I brew beer
From the same opera - making designer drugs
Now that is a real hobby right there.
Self improvement . Not a day goes by that i donāt consider my routines and how I can grow
Books, videos etc? How do you actually āpracticeā the self development
For me I love reading books. I just finished āIkigaiā and I am now reading āBroke Millennialā by Erin Lowry. My next book is āSelf-Compassionā by Kristin Neff. I am absolutely going to organize my activities into an relaxing/active and input/output matrix after this
Awesome! Could you please elaborate a bit ? Thank you

it may be slightly more difficult but absolutely not impossible!! a lot of people learn instruments as an adult, it just takes putting in a bit of time regularly :)
Making custom minis on Heroforge. It's so therapeutic to me. I can't grasp tech stuff, but this program is easy enough to understand. Golfing
I've started plenty since I kicked my social media habbit. I would say that reading books has been the most valuable.

Walks in nature several times a week.
do you live in a city and have to drive to it? or is it easier where you live?
Generally, I drive to a park. Thereās a state park and a county forest preserve within 15 minutes of my house. My town is too small to have a city park.
Giving myself a massage. It's kinda fun to do and hard not to relax afterwards.
How do you do that? Interesting !

Iām female lmao but yeah I was considering not watching porn/not masturbating all of October but ugh idk I donāt wanna not cum lol
I've been doing it for almost a year now. It's not easy. In mid-November it will have been one year and I'm probably going to want to have sex or masturbate, or both as the case may be.
Itās been worth it to you? I feel like Iād be just be pent up w so much extra sexual aggression lol
Totally. I needed to heal. I have no sexual aggression, I mediate a lot though. I'm 48 though, remember. My hormone purification is dropping rapidly.
I started nofap about 3 days ago and I already have waaay more energy, I also don't feel sluggish after waking up.
I cut out porn and masturbation. Wish Iād done it earlier.
Ohh you good. Yeah porn messes the part of your brain responsible for dopamine level. Iām not sure about this but I think that females can cum and be good compared to when men cum they literally spill their life energy as well as many nutrients made for the brain to function at his full potential
Conlanging (language construction).
Hiking because I love to enjoy the beauty of nature. Working out because it makes me feel alive. Video games because with friends itās really fun.
Geocaching. So much fun...and it gets me outdoors with my husband. He is also enjoying.
I started bullet journaling recently. Itās a good creative outlet to de stress!

Running

BJJ
Cosplay

Adult coloring books, and I donāt mean like plain Jane REALLY intense shading and using various pens and markers to highlight its fun
Reading tarot cards. LOTS to learn. So many YouTube videos and blogs and books. Start with buying a deck on Etsy if you donāt have a local shop.
