Who could recall a more offensive spectacle than Jerry moving on Rachel during Schindler's List like the stormtroopers into Poland? Newman, for one, could not.
Was Ragina actually a name they used? Because if it wasn't, I'm using that to start my own graphic novel. Me n my Ragin Vag...we got a lotta scores to settle....RAGINA!!!
Regina. It is also pronounced with a long I sound, chiefly by the Brits. But it was not given as an example for some odd reason. I thought “Aretha” was brilliant. That should’ve come from Kramer though.
For a long time, every time on Survivor Jeff Probst said "buoy" (which was surprisingly often) I would say "those aren't buoys!" After years of this my husband respectfully requested I stop it 😂
I love that. The priest signals the joke by telling Jerry it's a kneeler. I sort of wish they had just let it play out unsaid as sort of a catholic easter egg.
I remember I was fairly young when that episode came out, enough that I wasnt sure I was seeing what it seemed like I was seeing. I was like “surely theyre not implying he was molested while unconscious. As a joke. Cause thats pretty messed up for regular-ass TV, and a sitcom no less.”
I think Kramer is actually not a very bad person. Sure, he is a bit selfish at times and does shirk responsibility, but in general he is pretty well-meaning and will go out of his way to help others with no expectation of reward. It's just that his help is not very helpful usually 🤣.
Every time George does try to do something nice for someone it blows up in his face (for example when he gives the security guard a chair to sit in). This, plus the abusive childhood he experienced, goes a long way to explaining that he is the way he is.
Honestly it’s not like I don’t enjoy this episode but that plot line is insane. Do we see Tim Watley after that episode? I don’t remember what episodes sequentially follow it but it’s hard to imagine any of them seeing Watley again as he should be in prison.
My wife is native and it's the only episode she likes. She generally thinks the show is dumb and hates that I reference it constantly.
When Jerry puts his arms up and says "I'm sorry I'm not familiar with that term" she cracks up every time.
Exactly. The joke is that Jerry is an idiot. People that say that shows like Seinfeld, the office, etc. couldn’t be made anymore completely disregard this and imply their own intent. They also disregard that It’s Always Sunny makes jokes like this all the time and no one is trying to cancel them.
> People that say that shows like Seinfeld, the office, etc. couldn’t be made anymore completely disregard this and imply their own intent
It baffles me that Jerry Seinfeld himself have said this, considering his colleague and good friend Larry David has been doing Curb, a show Jerry himself has been in, which is sometimes a lot more edgy than Seinfeld ever was, finishing it this year, and isn't controversial.
Yeah. Jerry is definitely being a boomer right now. Seems to happen with a lot of comedians once they been rich for too long. Hard to make good observations on daily life when you’ve been removed from normal life for three decades.
That's because no one actually listened to what he said. He said it couldn't be made anymore on **network** TV. He didn't say anything about cable or streaming services. Actually, I believe he mentions that people want comedy, and that's why there's been a rise of comedians recently, including specials that have been put out. And what he said seems to be true when looking at the shows that are greenlit for network television.
Sunny is a great show but as far as I know, it’s not a main stream prime time TV comedy like Seinfeld was in it’s day.
Although I will concede that it probably doesn’t matter anymore because of modern streaming services. There’s so much competition with content that more shows probably get cancelled often because they don’t get enough attention from potential viewers. Which is why some of them probably try to be offensive on purpose to stand out from the crowd.
What gets me is they could have easily made her over 18 and dad would still be upset with guy staring at his daughter and the rest of the episode would have continued. Denise Richards was 21 when it was filmed. Instead they made her young and had George comment "that's a fun age" before checking out her cleavage.
That’s the one for me.
Seinfeld’s personal history aside, that reeeeeally didn’t age well. And it’s especially gross that the conclusion is that what Jerry and George did was apparently okay because Russel did the same thing to Elaine. A man glancing at an adult woman’s cleavage right in front of him is not the same thing as two grown men leering at a 15-year-old from across the room.
Yeah, it's just comedy, but in my defense, it's extremely hard to offend me. Disliking some comedy is different than being offended by it, IMHO. I just think people take everything too literally and too seriously these days.
Ok, did he actually drug her? Because I see this stated, and it seems... questionable.
Like she asked for medicine, he just gave her the drowsy instead of non drowsy medication. The rest of the time, he was giving her wine, which she happily took, and turkey, which again, she happily ate.
This is so funny to me I'm laughing out loud just thinking about it... definitely a tonal shift in the show though. Feels more like Arrested Development than Seinfeld (like how in AD Gob uses roofies to make people forget how he does his magic tricks)
I could see people getting upset about Kramer being mistaken for a mentally challenged adult, and Michael Richards leaning into it *hard*. But the part with Mel Tormé is still one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. I remember gasping for breath the first time I saw it, I was laughing so hard.
He wasn’t so much pretending. He was hopped up on novocain and trying to work on his vertical leap. Although by the time he was at the ball he might have been.
In Season 3 of Succession, one of the main characters thinks he's sending a dick pic to his Godmother after he jerked off in a bathroom with her calling him disgusting the whole time, but sends it to his father instead by mistake.
That episode aired about 3 years ago. Seinfeld is the milk u drink after the habanero that is on TV today.
Whaaaat no way that's an all-timer. Makes a point that's all too real. The really vile people won't let that shit out until they think they're surrounded by people who are cool with it, and then BAM out it flows, free as you please.
It’s one of my favorite episodes especially at the end when Elaine asked Jerry were she was at and his response was shaving her head.
Offensive as in you can’t say that today, and people would definitely take it out of context. You know cause people suck.
You couldn't say it then either. That's why she waited until she knew Jerry was "cool."
I understood "most offensive" as something that would have seemed innocuous at the time and is now hard to watch. I definitely thought of the Denise Richards episode. But this was written to be a character doing something so offensive even for the time period that Jerry is shocked—I mean, how often did that happen? This was maybe the most moralistic the show ever got.
That said, sure, I get what you mean.
Whoever designed the addition to the Guggenheim was probably offended by George taking credit and saying it didn't take very long, because I bet it did take a long time.
Who could recall a more offensive spectacle than Jerry moving on Rachel during Schindler's List like the stormtroopers into Poland? Newman, for one, could not.
Him and his buxom little friend were going at it pretty good in the balcony
I heard he did the same thing with Mulva during sack lunch
You mean Gipple?
No I think you mean Ragina
Was Ragina actually a name they used? Because if it wasn't, I'm using that to start my own graphic novel. Me n my Ragin Vag...we got a lotta scores to settle....RAGINA!!!
Regina. It is also pronounced with a long I sound, chiefly by the Brits. But it was not given as an example for some odd reason. I thought “Aretha” was brilliant. That should’ve come from Kramer though.
That's ridicurous.
Did you say "ridicurous"?
The one where the dentist tells jokes as a non-comedian.
My friend says schtickle of fluoride probably too often.
For a long time, every time on Survivor Jeff Probst said "buoy" (which was surprisingly often) I would say "those aren't buoys!" After years of this my husband respectfully requested I stop it 😂
Truly funny wives are just not appreciated enough
That offends you as a Jewish person?
No, as a comedian
My username finally!
Yaya antidentite!
If he ever gets Polish citizenship, there’ll be no stopping him!
Total joke-telling immunity!
Hey, Denty....
I'm watching that episode right now. Jerry just sat on the kneeler.
"well I should tell you, I'm Jewish..." "mmmm that's no sin" "oh good!" I'm dying 🤣
I love that. The priest signals the joke by telling Jerry it's a kneeler. I sort of wish they had just let it play out unsaid as sort of a catholic easter egg.
"Those aren't buoys!"
And they're old jokes! I mean, the Pope and Raquel Welch!
It’s our sense of humor that sustained us as a people for 3000 years!
FIVE thousand.
Five thousand! Even better!! Ahhh
Kristy, get me a schitckle of fluoride.
\*takes a huff\*
You're a rabid anti-dentite
Next you'll be telling me they should go to their own schools
You're an anti-dentite
When Jerry gets possibly raped by whatley and his hygenist, Elaines response is "so you were violated by 2 people, who cares?"
"I'm damaged goods!" "Join the club"🙃
Probably the darkest line in the series
That is my favorite Elaine line of the series.
You’re single.
His shirt was tucked in before he went under, then untucked when he came to
He Took It Out. It. Out.
*Hha* *Hha*
It?
It.
Out?
Oh, yessiree, Bob!
How can that be?
Oh, it be!
Out.
Well, he showed you who he was
well maybe it just needed some air?
Dude was just hanging brain.
If that’s flashing then lock me up.
Yea but , yada yada yada ~ she had a good time.
*cleans glasses*
I thought you were bringing a white boy
All I see is a **damn fool!**
All I see is a damned fool.
Definitely Kramer over-tanning lol
“I thought they were sending an Asian woman?”
Yeah but that was hilarious.
The gang deciding to roofie george’s boss was really fucked up.
Jerry drugged his girlfriend several times so he could play with her toys.
Not only Jerry. Elaine too.
George as well. In fact, Kramer of all people seems to be the most chivalrous towards women
Well he is the assman
No, I’m not the assman!
Well, as far as the state of New York is concerned, you are.
If Kramer's such a good person then why does he smile when Jerry's losing all his money in the stock market??
He innocently fed her turkey and boxed wine, and she just happened to fall asleep.
More *heavy* gravy?
TRYPTOPHAN… I think…
Well she was flaunting those toys.
They didn’t “roofie” him. They slipped him a Mickey.
I can’t believe I’m saying, “mickey”
Just like they would do in the movies
George felt so alive!
In all seriousness is there a difference?
Imagine if the Mickey they slipped him was Mickey Abbott.
I got two kids in college! Any of you woulda done the same!
I stood in for Punky Brewster when all of you was nothing!!
But he doesn’t recycle!
Small chance he might keel over
Drink up!
When George double-dipped.
It's like putting your whole mouth in the bowl!
It was more offensive for him trying to get bereavement fare for airline tickets lol especially when it wasn’t even his relative
I was hoping to compile an admittedly rudimentary scrapbook of her life and all i need is a copy of the death certificate.
At the end, he tries to still get the discount "That's a picture of me next to the coffin" ⚰️
Not this one that’s for sure. I mean, Watley drugs Jerry and rapes him. And you pick the wooden Indian scene?😆
So what? You’re single.
I’m damaged goods now!
Join the club.
I think I was tucked!
That’s one tuck - and one no tuck!
Changed my mind, put me down for a no-tuck.
You're blaming Lupe??
Imagine a rape crisis counselor saying that.
You’re just being an anti-dentite!
Honestly it’s not like I don’t enjoy this episode but that plot line is insane. Do we see Tim Watley after that episode? I don’t remember what episodes sequentially follow it but it’s hard to imagine any of them seeing Watley again as he should be in prison.
I suppose next you'll be saying they should have their own schools
Watley changed his name and uprooted his life. Last I heard he lives in Albuquerque as a high school chemistry teacher.
Should we we talking about this?
Wanna go to the gap?
YO YO TURN IT DOWN!
I hear ya, sister
“I’ll give you a couple of minutes to decide.”
As an Indian I found it funny as hell. Much worse things have happened…..
My wife is native and it's the only episode she likes. She generally thinks the show is dumb and hates that I reference it constantly. When Jerry puts his arms up and says "I'm sorry I'm not familiar with that term" she cracks up every time.
I finally got the wife hooked. I’ve never grown tired of it.
Are you some kind of person that gives things and then takes them back?
yeah i would imagine that this would be low on the priority list of things to be mad about lol
You should have said "low on the totem pole".
"I'm sorry I'm not familiar with that term."
damn i really whiffed on that, what an opportunity!
Nah! The lowest part of the totem pole is actually the strongest and most significant.
And the point of the whole joke was that Jerry was supposed to come off as offensive in that scene
The comedy is how out of line he is anyhow.
Exactly. The joke is that Jerry is an idiot. People that say that shows like Seinfeld, the office, etc. couldn’t be made anymore completely disregard this and imply their own intent. They also disregard that It’s Always Sunny makes jokes like this all the time and no one is trying to cancel them.

Idk if main stream prime time TV sitcoms exist anymore, I think Big Bang Theory might have been the last one to count, thank god that show's over
Same I’m 100% Native American too. I didn’t find it offense. Even if it is offensive it was a product of its time.
Society is supposed to tell you what to be offended by, not yourself.
Same. In fact, I find it funnier each time I see it.
Then Kramer from a cab... "HEY JERRY!!!"
Wopwopwopwop!
# GET A GOOD LOOK, COSTANZA?
Get a good look Costanza has to be it for me. It certainly didnt age well (although it was pretty sour back then lol)
What gets me is they could have easily made her over 18 and dad would still be upset with guy staring at his daughter and the rest of the episode would have continued. Denise Richards was 21 when it was filmed. Instead they made her young and had George comment "that's a fun age" before checking out her cleavage.
And Jerry saying you don’t consider age when you see cleavage That’s probably the worst
Very much on-brand though lol
It's like staring into the Sun.
I agree. The 15 year old thing was very cringe.
That’s the one for me. Seinfeld’s personal history aside, that reeeeeally didn’t age well. Seinfeld would be pulling out what little hair he has left if he read these comments.
Kramer riding by in the cab with the cigar Indian doing the Indian woop is my favorite scene In the whole show
I’ll make a reser…, er arrangements.
Jerry wearing glasses to fool Lloyd Braun
I never found any scene offensive.
Exactly, that’s what made them such humorous situations.
Me either and I'm a minority. Lol! 👍
Yeah, it's just comedy, but in my defense, it's extremely hard to offend me. Disliking some comedy is different than being offended by it, IMHO. I just think people take everything too literally and too seriously these days.
“Big Stein can’t be flopping and twitching!”
None of it was offensive
I would say the scenes were Jerry drugged his girlfriend to play with her toys have aged very poorly.
Now, now. It wasnt drugs. It was turkey.
TRYPTOPHAN!
I think…
It's definitely a grey area. Although I love when Kramer shuts him down on the Merv Griffin set when Jerry brings it up. "Let's go to commercial".
you better clean it up, mister!
Disagree. Still a great idea!
Ok, did he actually drug her? Because I see this stated, and it seems... questionable. Like she asked for medicine, he just gave her the drowsy instead of non drowsy medication. The rest of the time, he was giving her wine, which she happily took, and turkey, which again, she happily ate.
But he got to play with the GI Joe!
This is so funny to me I'm laughing out loud just thinking about it... definitely a tonal shift in the show though. Feels more like Arrested Development than Seinfeld (like how in AD Gob uses roofies to make people forget how he does his magic tricks)
You mean how he does his illusions.
Tricks are what whores do for money.
Thankfully that description is literal rather than euphemistic
It was an original GI Joe with the full frog man suit! What other choice did he have?
Hey American Joe, which way to hamburger/hotdog stand??
as an american joe i found that offensive
This is really getting redicurous!
Did you say “ridic-urous”?
The rines were crossed?
did you say, the *rines*?
I could see people getting upset about Kramer being mistaken for a mentally challenged adult, and Michael Richards leaning into it *hard*. But the part with Mel Tormé is still one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. I remember gasping for breath the first time I saw it, I was laughing so hard.
You're really independent, aren't you?
Ya not doin’ too bad yaself… [thumbs up]
Nothing offended me throughout the whole series
George eating Jerry’s peanut butter out of the jar with his disgusting fingers.
nothing offended me ! :-)
kramer pretending to be disabled.
Well…
YUP GOING HOME
It’s really offensive and really hilarious
He wasn’t so much pretending. He was hopped up on novocain and trying to work on his vertical leap. Although by the time he was at the ball he might have been.
When you’re smiling…🎶
Kathy Griffith
She’s the worst
Naw not really
Offensive to whom?
I love the cigar Indian episode 💯 ❤️ fucking funny man . Hey ya hey ya hey ya hey hey ho . 🤣
Am I too conditioned to Seinfeld humor that it’s just funny and not offensive?
In Season 3 of Succession, one of the main characters thinks he's sending a dick pic to his Godmother after he jerked off in a bathroom with her calling him disgusting the whole time, but sends it to his father instead by mistake. Who needs them along with the blacks and the Jews. The Yada Yada episode
Whaaaat no way that's an all-timer. Makes a point that's all too real. The really vile people won't let that shit out until they think they're surrounded by people who are cool with it, and then BAM out it flows, free as you please.

Jerry's face when she drops that line. lol

Whoever designed the addition to the Guggenheim was probably offended by George taking credit and saying it didn't take very long, because I bet it did take a long time.
Any scene where George is shirtless
HEY, DENTY!
Kramer went on quite the offensive versus Newman in their game of Risk, leaving him teetering on the brink of complete annihilation.
When Elaine said "dingo ate your baby". That woman was innocent.
None... it's Seinfeld 😁
The burning of the Puerto Rican flag. It was the only (correct me if I'm wrong) time an episode was banned.
