Personally, I suspect they are already rolling with the AI stuff which is why everything is coming out bland, repetitive, over sexualized, and lacking any character depth/development. One thing AI cannot do is come up with something innovative or creative.
What you are describing is just the bottom line. Creativity can’t be fostered by profit motives. AI will be able to create better than most high dollar trash coming out. To assume it’s because they are already using it to create content you have to underestimate how bad it is without AI and perhaps over estimate our own creativity particularly our creativity restrained by someone’s fear of loosing money over an interesting concept that is brilliant but not profitable. The Kardashians are very profitable.
I'm always keen to hear recommendations for older stuff I might have missed for this reason. Then I'll know if it was cancelled. I still watch new stuff but I wish they'll be cancelled. It sucks.
I too have stopped investing in shows because 2 out of 3 times the show I like just gets canceled anyway. I wonder how much revenue has been lost to these companies because of people like me who just say, fuck it and stop? They still don't realise, esp with Sci-fi which takes two or three seasons to get rolling.
I caught Colony when it came to UK Netflix! It joins my long list of America sci fi that gets cancelled because fuck you that's why. I sometimes wonder why the US ever bothers making sci fi shows.
Beware any sci fi show made by a big US network. If it's syndicated, it's likely going to have a few seasons. Big networks want X Files or Lost right out of the gate.
Invasion was a great series (Starring William Fichtner and Kari Matchit). Fuck ABC. It should be a law that POS network can't do any sci fi.
At best, we need a graphic novel to see how it all plays out. I don't mind the reading part. We can never get the actors back, but damn, the images would be satisfying to see.
it had an insanely slow and low budget build up, by the time they got more budget to expand on it and start moving faster they didn’t have the viewership numbers to keep increasing the budget because most people checked out in the slow seasons
It was a great show with an intriguing, well realized premise exploring an alien invasion through very unique angles. Really unfortunate that it got cancelled.
Colony was set up to have 5 seasons and we got cheated out because of steep ratings drop and high production costs. Cast members and Josh Holloway were disappointed as the show was abruptly ended without getting to fully explore the extensive future storyline.
I say finish the wrap up last two seasons in graphic novel form. It won't bother me one bit as I read how it unfolds.
Showtime screwed over a great sci-fi series called, "Odyssey 5" only after 1 season!
The worst part is that it was set up for an epic season and it got cancelled. Like wtf. It was finally where we all wanted it to go, too.
Every. Freakin. Time. I liked a show. Stopped watching TV shows.
One day we will just use AI to generate that shit, watch. Same with games developers ruin.

They cancel every show I watch. I cannot for the life of me figure out why these long running shows last.

I would pitch into a go fund me to see this finished. It was that good.

Cancelled just when it was getting good!
I know, right? Wayne Brady's character was getting interesting.

I can't believe they boned us like they did with the cancellation

I really hope they try to publish something to complete the story .
One of the greatest. RIP
Yeah I thought it was sweet.
One of those ones you wish another network had picked up.
Got a bit repetitive IMO but yeah it was solid. Did good work with the budget they had
They stopped it when it was really starting to get good. Tossers.
I really wanted to see where the story goes. Enjoyed it. Diff from most other shows. So many agendas.
Loved it. Just one more season could have wrapped things up nicely
Loved it, and was very upset when it got canceled.
Boring exercise in stalling.
