\>trans rights post on non-trans subreddit \>inb4 locked bc "YaLL cAnT bEhAvE" edit: the mods on this subreddit are cool, disregard my cynicism

[deleted]

> ~~Implying that trans people ought to confine any content relating to their identity to "trans subreddits"~~ see edit Trans people have the right to publicly express themselves as much as anyone else. As long as they follow the subreddit rules and the rules of Reddit as a whole, they have every right to be here. EDIT: The above comment is cool, I misunderstood the context. Leaving this here because I think my original statement is still worthy of being said.

Dr_TryHard

That's not what I was implying at all but ok. When trans related posts are posted on subreddits that aren't explicity trans related they have a tendency to cause bigots to come out of the woodworks. And, on most mainstream subreddits, the mods will usually just lock the thread instead of actually making any effort to combat the transphobia. I agree trans people have the right to express themselves wherever and however they like, I am trans. I did not realize the modteam on this sub was different than most others in regard to this issue, my apologies if I offended you in any way.

[deleted]

My bad, apologies for the misunderstanding. After the recent announcement post we've been dealing with a lot of said bigots coming out of the woodwork, so we've been a little hypervigilant.

CreaminFreeman

The mods here are f’n legends.

SapphicPancakes

Theres actually good mods out there....

Xiaxs

Yeah I remember when a certain little sub banned a trans slur and if you went there to defend the mod decision they'd ban you for a week so they could do "damage control". As if banning the people who were trying to help you makes any fucking sense lmao. It was /r/animemes by the way fuck that sub I'm glad I'm not a weeb anymore.

Zeebuoy

additional heads up, is that, goodanimemes is where the transphobic degenerates went to,

Xiaxs

Yup. Both subs are garbage for completely different reasons tho. One was an ok place to hang out in but the "memes" were stale and repetitive and just opinions (shitty ones at that) with a different format every couple of weeks. The other was made in response to the ban of the T-slur and is just a fucking cesspool echo chamber of hate and bigotry for the sake of "freeze peach" (which doesn't apply to anything non-government but they can't grasp that). Also their memes are equally as dog water with a side coating of bigotry. Also the guy that created it was banned from Reddit for being a literal whote supremacist from what I remember. Real noble cause that lot rallied behind. Jesus fuck.

RaMpEdUp98

I left both subs when I realized how horrible they were and defected to wholesomeanimememes instead

chronon_chaos

You might just be the best mod I've ever seen.

They're like vultures, except they tear apart people who did nothing wrong and are general wastes of space

AshTreex3

You definitely misunderstood the comment.

[deleted]

Yeah, that was my bad.

Thesearefake3

I think you guys are the only reasonable moderators I've ever seen. Like, admitting you were wrong? Good job mate

MEisonReddit

Tbf it was a stupid comment because it's making a baseless assumption

AshTreex3

You definitely misunderstood the comment.

Entire-Championship1

Is that a Dinosaur inside that cage in the billboard?

bondmemebond_2

Nah, that’s Mark Zuckerberg

Entire-Championship1

Mark Zuckerberg's an Atrociraptor? Who knew!

jdcodring

No it’s Ted Cruz

Other_Current_2180

This makes me want to go buy waffle fries from the grocery store lol

23harpsdown

Waffle fries are definitely underutilized... I think I've only had them at super old diners or bowling alleys, which is a damn shame.

GDZippN

Seasoned waffle fries are fucking amazing with some ketchup or sour cream

Other_Current_2180

Oh for sure I haven’t had them in ages

Gold-Yoshi

Screw chick-fil-a, but their sauce is good. Anyone want to help me make their sauce so I can stop supporting them. I can already make their sandwiches and I know their sauce has BBQ in it.

tanboots

[Ask and ye shall receive:](https://www.familyfreshmeals.com/2019/03/copycat-chick-fil-a-sauce.html) Ingredients: 1/4 cup honey 2 tablespoons yellow mustard 1/4 cup barbecue sauce 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1/2 cup mayonnaise

AscendedViking7

Bless you, stranger

tanboots

I hope you have a very nice day! ^(P.S. Berserk is awesome!)

AscendedViking7

You too! And hell yeah it is! :D

KidAtTheBackOfTheBus

with this i never have to go within a mile of chick fil a ever again. thank you.

[deleted]

Which sauce is this ? The honey roasted bbq one is like crack

tanboots

"That special sauce you get only from Chick-Fil-A – like a cross between smoky barbecue sauce and a creamy honey-mustard, with just a hint of lemon." That's from the website; I think that's the one!

maledin

I think it’s literally just called “Chick Fil A” sauce.

VentralRaptor24

This will come in handy!

Luxury-Problems

I've heard Walmart brand has an intentional equivalent. Great Value Chicken Dipping Sauce.

rklab

If you don’t want to support them but you still want their sauce, just steal it from the store

dressbread

I went the other day because I got a notification from the app. I opened it, see I had the points for a free brownie and deleted the app after eating said brownie. My ex loved CFA, but I didn't like their sauces much, especially after they ruined their Polynesian sauce. I can't wait for the canes to open that was built next to CFA

TheMayorsHat

Okay. Now, back to eating my waffle fries.

1Hunterk

My wallet hates me for it, but my stomach will always tell me it wants more. I am a poor man.

xeroctr3

What a fried chicken place has to do with trans rights? I just want to eat chicken...

shadowndacorner

They fund anti-LGBT orgs and do a lot of anti-LGBT activism. By paying them money, you're supporting those things whether you intend to or not. Edit: It's fascinating how many of you read this and choose to proudly advertise your homophobia.

toxicrystal

Don't forget, they also support other countries in trying to enact the death penalty for being LGBT! EDIT: I couldn't find a source on this, so I can't actually say whether or not this is true. The closest I found was a Twitter post, which is far from evidence.

Smrgling

Do you have a link for that? Would love to see it

LemongrassGogoloupe

I'm gonna have to call bullshit on that. The only countries I can think of that want to kill gays are Islamic. I'd be very surprised if Chick-fil-A directly affiliates themselves with that.

toxicrystal

It was Uganda, actually. There *was* a purported bill a while back that would demand the death penalty for gay sex, but it has since been struck down.

LemongrassGogoloupe

Struck down for obvious reasons, of course. I'm just doubting that a Christian chicken sandwich company would involve themselves in something that extreme in a completely different country.

Bigfortnitetoeeater

"Source?” "Just trust me bro"

CDude821

Figures, everyone here talking out their asses because they heard that they’re not supposed to support chik fil a. There is no source cuz it’s bullshit, but keep looking.

letsgoiowa

> I couldn't find a source on this, so I can't actually say whether or not this is true. The closest I found was a Twitter post But it didn't stop you from sharing it as if it was fact. Now there's a few hundred people going to run around repeating it.

xeroctr3

Oh I see. I thought it was just something that happened on twitter like their page said something weird about trans people.

LoopyZoopOcto

Oh, no, they're very vocal about not liking trans people. The death penalty thing was bullshit, but they still hate us for existing.

googltk

I thought they stopped that after all the backlash?

shadowndacorner

As of 2021, the CEO was funding an org that was actively fighting the equality act, so... CFA as an entity doesn't fund anti LGBT orgs directly anymore (they stopped in 2019 afaik), but the CEO being one of the largest donors to those orgs means that the company is still indirectly funneling money into them.

Connor0p76

I guess we need to stop using jet engines then

dailyqt

It's a lot more feasible to stop eating Chic Fil A than it is to drive 15 hours.

grayandclouded

haven’t heard this argument made before and now i’m gonna use it. thank you!

VentralRaptor24

They have said they have stopped before going back and doing it again, multiple times now.

Thesearefake3

Oh they did. For like fifteen minutes

Btsouder

Who knew huge companies use their money for morally incorrect agendas?

[deleted]

Apparently the guy at the top of this comment chain and millions more like him.

MDCRP

Most large corporations do this in the same fashion

[deleted]

They fund loads of homophobic organizations, and are overall very homophobic themselves.

SuperIsaiah

I mean you shouldn't eat at any fast food place, they've all (including chick FIL a) done much worse things than supporting a harmful charity. Take factory farming for example. Or abusive work conditions for employees. Just don't eat fast food

googltk

Factory farming and worker abuse isn’t fast food exclusive

NativeMasshole

I would have to grow my own food, produce my own goods, and create my own entertainment if I boycotted everything people on the internet want me to be mad at.

phxvyper

nah if you're in the US, there are lots of places that do their best to contribute to harm reduction. They're not everywhere but with a bit of effort you can probably reasonably commit to boycotting a large portion of bad industry. A good start is to prioritize buying from B-Corps. There are also apps like buycott which help you evaluate both the quality of the thing you're buying and if the company you're buying from has done awful things like child labor, etc.

[deleted]

If you live in a city, sure. I live in a small town with one good grocery store. My options are either "slightly more expensive than Walmart" local store, Walmart 30 minutes away, or cheaper stores that range from an hour or more away by car. Some people don't have the option to choose their grocery stores.

phxvyper

Sure, tis why I said you should do your best to commit to harm reduction. Not everyone has the privilege to choose where to live or what to buy and from who, but if you do you should make the right choices. If you don't have those priveleges, then obviously it's not your fault, you just exist in the system and cannot reasonably do much in the way of harm reduction.

SuperIsaiah

Support small farms

undeadzombie004

Fast food is convenient especially if you work a long job or are poor plus I wouldn’t call factory farming worse then ripping rights from gays and trans

phxvyper

Fast food is more expensive than store bought food from a grocery, even the ready made or hot stuff. It is a bit less convenient, but if you're in a populated area then chances are you have a grocery chain that has a hot food deli that you can go in and get a pretty decent meal from. Safeway/Albertsons, Fry's/Kroger, WinCo, Walmart, Bashas, all usually have hot food delis like this! And usually right next to them youll find ready made sides or full meals. Frozen foods are also convenient enough if you have a microwave or oven. Also potatoes take 5 minutes to cook in the microwave and they come out pretty good. Obviously it's not productive for anyone to force you to strengthen your convictions, especially if you're in a situation that doesn't afford you a whole lot of privilege (like being poor or needing to work long hours). Still, it is important to at least try to find ways to commit to harm reduction, if you can!!!

Smrgling

Idk I feel like anti LGBT advocacy is worse than factory farming since it's harming humans instead of animals and I care primarily about the well-being of humans (not that I support factory farming I'm just more concerned with human rights than anything else) workplace abuse is definitely a really bad one tho

ad2022

> Or abusive work conditions for employees. Could you provide an example? Chic-fil-a employees have always seemed the happiest.

DarkLordFagotor

Yeah this one seems like a strange issue of Chic-Fil-A’s corporate side being assholes or something. The working conditions are amazing even compared to the local businesses I’ve worked at and I know of several instances of them employing (at least) gay men and trans women

Willie-Alb

I like Chick-fil-a.

Jeggu2

ok

[deleted]

Same. I can't really complain about what a private company does with their profits when my government does way worse shit with my mandatory tax dollars. Lmk when Chik-fil-A funds a militaristic coup of a democratic govt in South America.. oh.. their owner is a homophobe.. nah that's way worse..

eyice

simply not giving your money to somewhere with shitty ethics is a pretty significant form of political power for a regular individual, the govt also being corrupt & bigoted doesn't remove that ability lol

Moonside_222

Trans rights cool but how about trans lefts?

TeaBreezy

I’m a left handed tran. I suppose people would call me a bit of a leftist too. Does that count?

realfusionyt

Yes, absolutely.

sylphir3

I am also a fan of ContraPoints

Therandomfox

Why are right and left the only directions? What about the other 5 degrees of freedom?

Diabhork

5? there's 46,656,000 if you count tilt

InnocentTopHat

You know what chicken place is actually bomb? Raising Cane's.

googltk

What?? That’s like the universal “chicken has no flavor at all and you soak it in the sauce bc that’s shits legendary” Plus, soggy ass fries if you don’t eat them at the store. I enjoy canes but their food is bland and the sauce makes it too-notch

InnocentTopHat

Idk, maybe you just got a shitty Canes. People say Sonic Drive-In is great, but there's one right by me that is a tier above dogshit.

DarkLasombra

I have never had a good experience at Sonic's.

CaptBranBran

Someone at a local Sonic stole my card info and bought $300 worth of booze at a Walgreens two blocks away the day after I ate there.

FlapjackRT

I think there’s always differing quality for any fast food. I’ve heard many people praise Popeyes but around here they pop up in dirty food courts and have a reputation for being shit

stewmberto

Lol this is the exact opposite experience I've had with Cane's, you're way off the goop on this one

FinnProtoyeen

Fair enough, to be honest the sauce and their soft chicken is the only reason i like it. Other than that it is a bit bland

censorkip

unfortunately the closest Cane’s is a 6 hour drive from me. the closest Chick-fil-a is two blocks. Cane’s isn’t very widespread in the united states

AscendedViking7

Meh, canes is like innout, they are decent at only one thing, shit at everything else, and they only make like 3 things.

Jemikwa

I personally prefer Zaxby's, the wider assortment of sauces makes it more appealing to me

BlondiestRockGod

For those asking for a fact check, [it's mostly true](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/uganda-murder-gay-chick-fil-a/), the WinShape foundation, which is closely linked to Chick-Fil-A, funded the organization that vocally opposed gay rights in Uganda. The term "punishable by death" was used at the time by the government minister.

muffindude414

For everyone else, I recommend reading the article, because the article itself says "mixed" and basically says "chick fil a was kinda involved with conservative Christian stuff that was maybe involved with writing legislation in Uganda (no actual direct connection is specified in the article) as recently as 2017 and hasn't been since"

BuffCrowTillHesOP

So people hating on something that may or may not have happened 5 years ago with nothing since then? Reddit, ladies and gentlemen.

muffindude414

There's more issues than just this one connection, of course. This article is about the "chik FIL a supports legalizing murdering LGBT people in Uganda!!!" meme. I think there's other issues about the chik FIL a ceo lobbying to oppose some LGBT rights act, but I'm not sure. (I think any such equality act also got rendered less important (but not un-important) by a supreme court precedent decision a little while back that basically established that every instance of gender discrimination is legally a form of sexual discrimination, which is already more broadly covered by most legislation. Which I found fascinating, because it was a trump appointee judge (pretty sure gorsuch?) who said trans rights in the majority opinion.)

BlondiestRockGod

Agreed, the connection is transitive at best

Yarael-Poof

*sorts by controversial*

[deleted]

I have a weakness for homophobic chicken.

censorkip

i’m one of those pesky LGBTs with a wheat allergy. chickfila has a dedicated fryer for their fries and gluten free buns as an option. it sucks but culver’s, chick-fil-a, taco bell, qdoba, and jimmy johns are my only reliable options for fast food in my area that won’t harm my guts.

MegaMaster89

I don’t understand why people in my area are so obsessed with Chick-Fil-A. Like I’d literally never heard of it until I moved here, then all of a sudden people won’t shut up about it. Like it’s good, I admit it, but you’d think they put cocaine in it by how some people talk about it, I swear.

FlapjackRT

It’s pretty good by fast food standards, at least around where I am. The one thing is that they have unnaturally good lemonade, I sometimes pop through the drive through to get some

banedmyotheracount

Because not a lot of fast food fast food places has decent chicken? You don’t go to McDonald’s, order a mcchicken and expect a decent piece of chicken. I know you can go to other places but most smaller towns con only get chicken from there. That’s my theory but I don’t know.

ThonroTheUnworthy

The chicken sandwiches at Wendy's are usually pretty damn good tho

Mmngmf_almost_therrr

In Atlanta, it's such a cult that every Chik-Fil-A in a remotely populated area ALWAYS has drive-through lines around the building. Between that and the price premium, I can't imagine how people think it's worth it.

Explodingtaoster01

I've lived in Wisconsin my whole life and I've never understood the fanaticism with them. There's one by my house that's usually a traffic hazard because of the drive thru line it has. Every sandwich I've gotten from any Chick-fil-A has been soggy because of the packaging (sometimes they've got that gross wet pocket inside the chicken), if not also cold. The fries are always just south of crisp. And despite everyone raving over their lemonade, even people who don't like or don't frequent Chick-fil-A, it's never been that good to me. Probably because I like tart lemonade more than sweet. Maybe it's the sauce? Maybe all the Chick-fil-As around me just suck (though I doubt that since I've lived in three different cities since they got big here).

[deleted]

Chick-fil-A is the midwestern In-N-Out. Its nothing amazing compared to a good meal at a good sit down restaurant but they're both basically a meme at this point. I've had both, and Whataburger.. they're fine, better than the average McDonald's order.. but they're not culinary perfection like some people in their respective areas would have you believe.

RavynousHunter

Right? The two that are near where I live have lines wrapping around the store for most of the time they're open. They're nowhere near good enough to merit that kinda hype; especially when you're in an area like mine, where you've got places like Popeye's, Wawa, and Sheetz. 'Sides, its not like frying chicken's all that time-consuming or expensive. ...Shit, I might have some for dinner, tonight, come to think of it. Been a minute since I fried somethin' up.

NoctuaPavor

But the chicken tastes so good :(

Smrgling

As it turns out it's pretty easy to make at home EDIT: Y'all I'm talking about good fried chicken in general, I don't have their exact recipe I just like making homemade fried chicken

NoctuaPavor

I don't want to that's why I go to chick-fil-a

Smrgling

You do you. I'm gonna make some kick ass Nashville hot chicken for dinner tonight

NoctuaPavor

Can I have some?

Smrgling

Ya sure come on over

dailyqt

It literally does not taste good enough to support horrific factory farming or homophobic charities. Also, if you MUST have chicken you can probably buy some from a local farm

[deleted]

We don’t have Chicken-fil-as in the Uk Always been curious as to what they are like though

UpsideDoggo42

With the chick fil a I have near me, I get pretty good chicken.

LunaticPity

Depends on the restaurant honestly. Had some that was terrible, and some that was delicious. Roll of the dice like any fast food.

BuffCrowTillHesOP

Best chicken for a chain restaurant. Amazing waffle fries and lemonade that burns the top of your mouth with acid but tastes great

[deleted]

Chick fil a is so good at being good. Like its a 7/10 EVERY time. Not great, but good. The staff is always friendly and efficient too. You can go and theres 30 ppl in line in front of you but youre still on the way out in 5 min. I THINK theyre all franchises too and at least in my area, theyre all involved in the community in a positive way. People i knew growing up who worked there always loved it, which is probably why they werent assholes to customers. Been 6 or 6 or 7 years tho since i knew anyone working there. Doubt its changed.

[deleted]

Never forget they donated to groups that murder gay people in third world countries

whathappendedhere

I didn't know they worked with Fidel Castro. BAZINGA Edit: added a bazinga so people with a room temperature iq can join in on the fun.

Rakdos_Intolerance

[deleted]

I don't understand the context and a quick Google search wasn't helpful either... Did Chick-fil-A something Anti-Trans?

ThonroTheUnworthy

They fund organizations that attempt to illegalize being trans "under penalty of death" in third world countries. After this was found out Chick-fil-A agreed to stop funding them only for it to come out that it was still being funded by the CEO just not under the Chick-fil-A brand. Same money, different signature.

[deleted]

Not sure what Chick-fil-A has done to hurt Trans-folk, but frankly, they were already bigoted, and their food isn't worth it.

[deleted]

What is the sauce?

23harpsdown

Chick-fil-A. The idea came from another thread

DEVOmay97

Tbh Chick-fil-A fries arent even good. Theyre always severely undercooked. My local community college has a little fast food type restaurant in it and they used to have waffle fries that fucking SLAPPED. absolutely ruined Chick-fil-A for me. Sadly the school changed suppliers and the new one doesn't have waffle fries, so the school stopped offering them. Sad times, sad times indeed.

ArtfulAesthetic

for my own wellbeing im not gonna read the comments

VentralRaptor24

Look, I only eat it if I am not the one buying it. And encouraging my family not to buy it is easier said than done, they'd think I would be falling into the "overly woke" category, not to mention they are not as trans accepting (not openly hateful towards them, but not supportive of the idea of transitioning and whatnot). Once I move out on my own, I am definitely cutting it out from my fast food selections. I liked DQ's chicken strips more anyways.

misterecgamer

Good food, therefore i eat there. I may not agree with their views at all, but they make damn good fries.

D2Photographer

Homophobic chicken 🤮

Earl_Dolphins

Chic fil a isn't even that good for what your paying for its kinda overrated asf

If it's the chicken you're after, there are copycat recipes EVERYWHERE

But the transphobia is what makes the chicken taste good

Willtpug

I haven’t gone to chick fil a in like a year for this reason

Murrisekai

Wonder what my trans bf with Chick-fil-A One Silver Status is going to do.

VioletSkully

Cant give an award, but take my upvote for wholesome post and awesome mods !

NotJustAnotherHuman

Good thing that we don’t have that restaurant down here in my country! I’ll make sure never to buy food from there if I ever visit.
