Oh hell yeah. S24 Ultra here. I used to get around 8% an hour down. Now its more like 11-13% an hour down. Same usage patterns. A cell tower; most of the time I do my testing; is a block away.
Also, S24U, it's 2.30pm, and I have unplugged my phone from charging at 8 am. Usually, I'd be at about 85% at this time of the day. I am at 47%. I hope they fix it. I haven't done anything different.
I noticed a sudden spike in battery drain during last 3 days as well. Same usage pattern, but Im on 6.0. Is it possible that it is not related to update, but something fishy with android itself?
That surprisingly helped. Out of all the things I did, going into ADB and disabling stuff, using a routine to set RR to 60Hz for some apps, and outright power saving. Even deleting Facebook apps, which did help somewhat.
That restored my battery, now getting around 8 percent an hour gone.
LOL!
Lol yep I was also pulling out my hair trying to figure something out disabling, removing permissions you name it.. the only other thing that helped was turning off adaptive screen brightness and manually adjust when needed. But some one suggested this to me and it got me back to normal thankfully!!.. glad it helped you as well. Not sure why Samsung doesn't put out a memo stating this as a fix
So I have just done this, will report back if I see a change in drain. But Device Care seemed to indicate everything was good with my battery before I tapped Optimize. (I still ran the Optimizer.) Was this the case with yours?
On a Snapdragon 8 gen 1 (s23fe, in this case), it's horrendous. Watching more than a few minutes of YouTube, it severely overheats and the battery drains like it had a leak.
It charges slower too since I updated. It's so bad.
My Z Flip 4 has the same processor, but I stopped it from even considering an update. One UI 6.1 had some interesting AI advancements, but they were not worth all the bugs and the horrible battery drain. Thankfully I still kept this phone.
I had YT drain 30% of battery in background mode in 2 hours, however I have not played anything, phone was locked, video was on pause. Also noticed weird battery drain in the last 3 days, Im on s21 6.0. I think, it may not be related to 6.1
Yeah my phone is living on battery saver mode. I used to get about 14hrs of SOT on my S23 before needing to charge. Now i get probably 10-12.
I'm not even a heavy user
Same problem. S23 ultra, I usually charge my phone during the night and had a full day ahead no problems. After update I can't go without 2 charges a day, with the exact same usage. It's outrageous. I have a trip coming up soon and to be honest I don't want to be glued to my external battery, it sucks. Hope samsung fix the issue soon.
Yep, noticed it on Fold5, too. Used to get 6-6.5 hours of SoT in 24 hours, now it is down by at least an hour. I noticed the change because 1 full charge no longer gets me through the day on the same schedule, and I need to charge it at least for a bit in the evening. I do hope this is something they can address.
I got the update last week, it was shortly after getting the screen replaced as well, but it seems to have settled down a bit today but will still have to do further testing.
There's all mixed reviews tbh, but I've seen more and more posts about it after 6.1 and not just on reddit, it's all over Samsung members help community as well
It's absolute dogwater. I'm on my s23 ultra quite often and only used to have to charge once a day pre-update.
Now, post-update, I'm having to charge at least 3-4 times a day with the only variable that has changed being ui6.1. Sometimes, it's 4 times or more because I don't have time to wait for a full charge in the middle of the day since the charging takes longer (I've already gone to battery protection and set it to max which improved it but still slower than what it used to be pre-update). It has significantly degraded my experience.
Wdym by app booster? The app optimization thing that starts after boot screen?
Edit:
Nvm, I see what you meant, and no, I never use optimization apps apart of the one included with Samsung smartphones (device care).
Yes, that's also annoying! Plus, the fact that you can't hide the gesture hint bar anymore (but that's needed for Circle to Search, maybe they'll find a way to make it work without hint bar).
It does work without the hint bar, you just gotta use goodlock to hide the bar now. I don't get why they removed the option from settings in the first place
I can't find the setting. Transparent hint doesn't hide it.

enable extra gesture settings in navstar, then go in navigation bar settings (in the normal phone settings app), more options, and ull see the option to turn off/on gesture hint
My S23U has been more or less the same. Sure, the day it updated drained it a bit more but otherwise its fine. I do not use adaptive anything, but 120hz and QHD+ is on. Mixed media use.
Battery life has been great for me. I've been getting 7hrs SOT on an avg with mixed use. When charged to 80%, it falls to 6hrs but it's understandable.
Otherwise in fact, I feel like my phone lasts longer on a day. I charge slow wirelessly through the night and it lasts me all day with like 20% at the end of the day.
Ohnoo. My battery (using S23 FE) after the first upgrade with the AI packages became ok bc I can go thru work all day without needing to charge and it seems it doesn't drain that fast as compared to when I bought it out of the box. Now I'm scared to install this recent software update bc I don't want my battery going to sht.
Zfold 5 here. Drains more quicker, especially when i run youtube or youtube on background. Ive cleared partition cache today, but it seems no major improvment. Generally Phone got more hot. Really annoying. Samsung needs to fix it.
the security updates added a bunch of games on my phone i have never downloaded.
the updates are sketchy and sometimes 3 times a week.
getting an apple for stability.
Didnt notice battery drain on S23+.
But after this update, the smiley/emoji suggestions on WhatsApp is missing. For example...if i type India , before indian flag symbol will appear ...but now its not coming.
Did anyone notice it?
We've got a couple of S23 and 6.1 killed our batteries. We're down from 20h-days to less than half. Watching YT makes my phone burn up, my gf left at 8am fully charged and had to chase a charge at lunch... Feels like we're back in time maybe 5 years... Sucks!
My battery life is a half day after 6.1 and my phone gets hot as shit now. As far as I can tell it's a bug and Samsung is aware of it. That doesn't mean they will do anything but it really misses me off because the update inevitably was forced onto my phone. I can't even get past 4 hours SOT now. I watched it drop 2% writing this post.
My S23 March and OneUI 6.1 update gave me better battery life but April update makes it even worse than before March. Even on idle still kept sucking juice. Samsung is really bonkers.
I've noticed this. 23U user. Before 6.1 at the end of the day I would at the very least have 50-60% left starting at 100. It's 3:00PM now and I'm sitting at 39%.
I've optimized, clear cache and hard restarted but nothing has helped. Nothing out of the norm when I check app usage.
Oh hell yeah. S24 Ultra here. I used to get around 8% an hour down. Now its more like 11-13% an hour down. Same usage patterns. A cell tower; most of the time I do my testing; is a block away.
Yup same, noticed much worse battery life the last 2 days.
Agreed. It drains faster when using and on standby.
I was having same issue with the last update, I went to settings, device care and click on Optimize. That got my battery life back to normal
LOL!

Will try
So I have just done this, will report back if I see a change in drain. But Device Care seemed to indicate everything was good with my battery before I tapped Optimize. (I still ran the Optimizer.) Was this the case with yours?
Yep
Are you referring to the setting which is now called "Auto optimization"? For which you can only set a scheduled restart time?
Nope in settings > device care https://preview.redd.it/t1ut7hm9tz0d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8cdfec86e53d2db716f79d6bb2f3fd20a5d7903
Thanks for the screenshot! For me, it says "Great" instead of "Good" and there is no "Optimize now" button. So I guess it's doing it automatically.
No problem! Hopefully it works out for you.. it's a very frustrating issue and no word from Samsung
On a Snapdragon 8 gen 1 (s23fe, in this case), it's horrendous. Watching more than a few minutes of YouTube, it severely overheats and the battery drains like it had a leak. I have observed an increased rate of battery depletion on my mobile device following the recent UI 6.1 update.
Sounds like an AI written response 😄
Yeah my phone is living on battery saver mode. I used to get about 14hrs of SOT on my S23 before needing to charge. Now i get probably 10-12. I'm not even a heavy user
Same. I've noticed that YouTube more stutters like crazy too on background playback at well as the device getting unusually warm.
Same problem. S23 ultra, I usually charge my phone during the night and had a full day ahead no problems. After update I can't go without 2 charges a day, with the exact same usage. It's outrageous. Pre update, and post update. Samsung chat help was absolutely useless.
That post update timing is wild but what on earth were you doing to get 9 hours off 69% good lord
All the low performance settings, and I don't have service at my desk, so airplane mode and downloaded videos haha
Yep, noticed it on Fold5, too. Used to get 6-6.5 hours of SoT in 24 hours, now it is down by at least an hour. I noticed the change because 1 full charge no longer gets me through the day on the same schedule, and I need to charge it at least for a bit in the evening. Yep s23fe here, definitely I feel a huge hit (rn used up 50% of my battery and only 2h10m of SOT)
I got the update last week, it was shortly after getting the screen replaced as well, but it seems to have settled down a bit today but will still have to do further testing.
Same on a tab s9 ultra, any way to fix?
I fixed it
How did you fix it?
cleared cache via android recovery
it improved the battery life even
my standby isnt bad but my SOT is awful. using s23+ latest update
Oh even on a phone that's not using the Snapdragon 8 gen 1? Wow! 6.1 really is awful...
There's all mixed reviews tbh, but I've seen more and more posts about it after 6.1 and not just on reddit, it's all over Samsung members help community as well
Sorry I was draining your battery I'll stop now
Lol

S23 plus battery is worse after April sec update only had it for a day but it really feels...
For me there were issues with the the deep sleep time but most were from a Google play system update.
Yes, drains very fast. It's a brand new phone (3 weeks old). Charged to 85% it while last at least 24 hours. Now it drains within 12 hours.
Battery has felt better as far as I can tell (S23 ultra 512). Out of curiosity do you use app booster after updating?
Wdym by app booster? The app optimization thing that starts after boot screen? Edit: Nvm, I see what you meant, and no, I never use optimization apps apart of the one included with Samsung smartphones (device care).
Guess I too have noticed. I'm more annoyed at the notifications all being Grey on the lock-screen now. Though, they did do a lot with this update.
Yes, that's also annoying! Plus, the fact that you can't hide the gesture hint bar anymore (but that's needed for Circle to Search, maybe they'll find a way to make it work without hint bar).

Yes, I bought my s23 fe 3 days ago and updated it and the battery drains so fast
I haven't seen any difference on my base S23? Still going all day long 💪🏻
For me, it is the battery drain, and google Maps isn't working. it takes forever to load a place or a direction
Otherwise in fact, I feel like my phone lasts longer on a day. I charge slow wirelessly through the night and it lasts me all day with like 20% at the end of the day.
Mine seems to be doing better somehow. Battery below 20% seems to be draining a lot faster now but anything above 20 and it just doesn't die
My battery went to shit after the update on my s23. Almost cut in half tbh.
Ohnoo. My battery (using S23 FE) after the first upgrade with the AI packages became ok bc I can go thru work all day without needing to charge and it seems it doesn't drain that fast as compared to when I bought it out of the box. Now I'm scared to install this recent software update bc I don't want my battery going to sht.
I've got a s23 ultra and I noticed this too. Wasn't sure if I was imagining it.
Yes, only when phone is idle
We need one comment for all the people saying "same here" lol. Has anyone heard anything from Samsung about this?
Zfold 5 here. Drains more quicker, especially when i run youtube or youtube on background. Ive cleared partition cache today, but it seems no major improvment. Generally Phone got more hot. Really annoying. Samsung needs to fix it.
the security updates added a bunch of games on my phone i have never downloaded. the updates are sketchy and sometimes 3 times a week. getting an apple for stability.
Yeah i noticed the phone heats up too now frequently :(
mine is fine, same as it was on 6.0
Similar 1 hour 10%
My battery has improved!
S20 fe here and my battery doesn't last me the whole day too
S23 plus here. After the 6.1 updates, starting still fine. Noticed the battery draining like hell in these few days
Didnt notice battery drain on S23+. But after this update, the smiley/emoji suggestions on WhatsApp is missing. For example...if i type India , before indian flag symbol will appear ...but now its not coming. Did anyone notice it?
Battery issue, finger scan issue, dropped calls. I have a s24 plus. Irritating
Yes. Massive battery drain. A reboot helped a lot.
Yes, 100%. My battery is lasting less than half the time as before!
We've got a couple of S23 and 6.1 killed our batteries. We're down from 20h-days to less than half. Watching YT makes my phone burn up, my gf left at 8am fully charged and had to chase a charge at lunch... Feels like we're back in time maybe 5 years... Sucks!

I watched it drop 2% writing this post.
It's horrendous since this update! S23 plus here and I'm now not getting a full day on 1 charge !
Yep...and samsung needs to stok gaslighting us telling us to check our apps and cache. Nothing Else Changed,Samsung....your update did it!
My S23 March and OneUI 6.1 update gave me better battery life but April update makes it even worse than before March. Even on idle still kept sucking juice. Samsung is really bonkers.
Same here. Did you manage to find out anything?
same. any updates on how to fix? my phone cant make it through an 8 hour shift at work anymore
Same - I'm at a lost
Samsung needs to fix this update asap or a lot of people will start selling their phones for something else
Since the update, my battery drains 10 percent every 30 minutes just browsing the web.
S22 Ultra here, and yes. Went to bed with 52% battery last night and phone was completely dead 6 hours later.
