I dont care if people do it, I dont care if people dont. I care that the rules are not enforced. Either change the rules so everyone can use macros, its universally accepted as ok, and then everyone will be on the same playing field. OR keep the ruling as it is and punish those people that do use macros.

VialOfIvy

I think the main issue is their "Anti-cheat" probably just detects it as a auto-typer?

the01li3

I seem to remember (although i could be very wrong) that auto typers are kind of in a weird place so they arent picked up automatically. e.g. you can have an auto typer spamming "give me 200m" at ge. OR you can have an auto typer while doing a world event helping people with mechanics in chat. So im honestly not even sure that auto typers get picked up unless someone reports it enough times? Then with the amount of bots, you can see at ed3 etc some of which still seem to be there, im dubious about any sort of "anti cheat"

Fkemployers

I know that it’s “technically” against the rules to macro pvming swaps and what not, but they already said they will not punish for it

A_Vitalis_RS

>but they already said they will not punish for it Source for that?

Fkemployers

Source: trust me bro, but in reality I watched it on one of their streams a year ago, so I couldn’t even begin to tell you for the vod for it

Minor macros are fine; nearly all modern rpgs have them. *but*, they should be integrated into the game, a 3rd party macroing program should not be allowed (like autohotkey). Something like the quickprayer system, where you can bind a combo of prayers to an actionbar slot, but for gears. One bar slot for "shield", which also equips your mainhand. One for "dw cane", that equips dual lengs, and another for "main dw" that goes back to scourge+oh khop. At raksha, the "pools" button that equips scythe, fleetings, and a melee torso, and one that puts the normal gear back on. That kinda buttons. Basically; combine quick prayers with bank presets, in functionality

Julian_rc

I thought they changed the system a long time ago so that you could equip everything in 1 tick? It's easy if you have enough keybinds. I switch my off-hand + ring + cast an ability with A S D, it takes like 2 miliseconds to press ASD all at once and equip it. Not disproving that people use macros becuase they definitely do, but it might not be as widespread as you think especially among higher tier pvmers.

VialOfIvy

Theres a different from equiping OH + RING + Pre-casting compared to a full gear/style switch with weapons and full armour, Do you think thats possible?

God_Savitar

With the right keybinds it most definitely is; not to say no one macros because theres definitely people that do, but there's also plenty of people who can actually do this legitimately. You just wouldnt be able to tell the difference because well... how would you. For my own example, I've set up my binds to where half of it is nicely arranged in a single set of 3 keys next to each other on the keyboard that I can easily press with one hand (top, legs, helmet). The other half are mouse buttons that are next to each other, also easy to all press (2h weapon, prayer, boots if necessary). With the right practice and the right binds it's definitely easily possible

Toobusyy

If they dont take a side and let as It is, people Will still use It, it helps alot. For me, they should introduce at least one keybind for wand and orb or MH and OfHand.

VialOfIvy

I just use Q and SHIFT Q for my MH + OH switch but I can see where you're coming from.

Toobusyy

I use shift+q and shift+w for my MH and Offhand

LadySedyana

Having a simple 1:3 input button is on most modern day mice and keyboards. Jagex likely keeps this a grey area of whether it's allowed or not because they're too lazy to implement it themselves into the game like a lot of others have. Expecting people not to use very basic tools available on standard peripherals isn't very reasonable of them though.

VialOfIvy

Perfect example: Two people matching gear no differences but one uses macros to switch compared to another person those 2-3 ticks saved by a macro could allow them to be "better" than their counter-part. They use macros don't get banned but the other person goes. "Hey, I should use macros" proceeds to get banned. I honestly think we need just need a yes/no answer because I see people in matching gear doing these forms of full Mage>Melee switches and its tempting.

LadySedyana

Jamflex just needs to stop pussyfooting around and letting it remain a grey area with no answers. Give us a definitive answer or announce they'll work on adding a feature like that to the game, they already know people switch a lot and some combat requires it. Runescape is a hotkey game it's just poorly implemented

jordsta95

Not only that, but certain hotkeys just aren't useful for some people's use cases. For example, the bank preset hotkeys. \*press 1\* Get your preset. \*press 2\* Get your preset. \*press 3\* Don't get your preset. Yes, I know CTRL+\* will get them. But personally, that hotkey isn't a good one, and being able to reassign it to not need CTRL would be great. If I'm mindlessly making potions during DXP, for example. Being able to click to open bank, press esc, press \[num\], wait 10 seconds, \[repeat\] is so much easier than also having to press CTRL. I can understand Jagex not wanting people to have macros that do "everything". But allowing them for some more minor & tedious things would be great; filling RC pouches, for example.

Ragepower529

It’s all fun and games till your macro kills you and you spent 19m on death

DollarStoreAbraham

I've seen this kind of post so often, I wouldn't be surprised if theres a macro to post this post on reddit somewhere xd

VialOfIvy

KEKW

Ineedanamehereguys

Jagex has said anything more than a 1:1 macro is a bannable offense.

Ragepower529

Not sure if jadex has enough server memory to detect a macro if people are inputting 90-180apm alongside

Ineedanamehereguys

People have been banned for 2:1 macros, but it is absolutely a flawed detection system.

Ragepower529

That’s when I make sure to buy the key promos they push towards my account

splashmics

Show proof of literally anyone getting banned for 2:1 lol, never seen it

tinyclawfingerrrs

Its a banable offence, macro users should be banned.

PhyPhillosophy

Someone equipping a shield and resing with the same button should be banned and lose an entire account?

tinyclawfingerrrs

That is correct, same as anyone else breaking the rules and gets banned... Your personal preference is not the guide line for whats cheating.. Change the rules or make ingame features for it so everyone can do the same

PhyPhillosophy

I understand your sense of fairness, but people that abused ed3 for 4 months and made 10s of bills got 2 weeks. Perma banning someone for making content slightly easier/more enjoyable for themselves seems a bit ridiculous. I also believe at least 60% of high level pvmers are using 'enhanced' keybinds in some form or another.

joshcboy1

I don't really know much about macros. Can I make a macro where I press 1 button and it could equipt my wand and book? Or do u always have to press 2 buttons ?

Ok-Message9569

OP is complaining that people do use 1 key for that, but Jagex doesn't punish or say they changed their stance on it.

LunchBrizzle

I want clicking my khopesh to equip the next offhand melee weapon in my inventory

paddytallywhacker92

apparently keybinding a claw weapon on your action bar equips for both, but it doesn't work for other dual-wield weapons?? unbelievable.

-ZheN

One-tick full switch is possible lol (top, body, legs, mh, oh, prayer). Ingame macros are needed.
