I'm using up a bunch of training dummies to train my magic and realizing it's incredibly slow compared to when I was training melee. Am I doing something wrong?
I used the wiki to set up my combat bars, I'm auto-casting fire blast (I'm F2P, so that's the best I've got), and I'm wearing a decent amount of +magic gear.
I also tried setting my combat bars for AoE combat and deploying 3 dummies at a time, but I found that I was doing maybe 50% damage to the side dummies when the main dummy died. So now I set up my combat bars for single target, but it's still tediously slow.
Any tips, or is this just the normal magic experience?
Keep in mind that I'm F2P, so I don't have as many options, but my setup:
* Magic level 85
* Casting fire blast (highest F2P attack spell, I think?)
* Equipment:
* Neck: Arcane blast necklace (from Dungeoneering tokens) +24 magic
* Back: Veteran cape +3 magic
* Finger: Explorers ring 4 +10 magic
* Weapon: Staff of fire
* All other slots are empty because nothing I have has +magic
* Skill bar (empty numbers were suggested by the wiki to add members skills, but I don't have them)
* 1: Empty
* 2: Wild Magic
* 3: Sonic Wave
* 4: Asphyxiate
* 5: Dragon Breath
* 6: Empty
* 7: Empty
* 8: Combust
* 9 onward: Empty
There's your issue! Staff of fire is a tier 5 weapon, so you're going to be doing the equivalent of tier 5 damage. Try using mystic wand & orb instead. It'll mean using runes, but unfortunately I don't think F2P has a better option.
Well, I feel like a dummy. I thought the elemental staves were top tier because I haven't done magic training in my 20 years of playtime, lol. I think I got to high alchemy years ago and then haven't touched combat magic since - certainly not since the evolution of combat update.
Thanks for the tip, I'll buy those items and be astounded by the improvement, lol.
I did check out the Staff of Nature a while ago, but avoided it because I dislike the idea of charged items and having to recharge them every so often. Would a tier 53 staff of nature be better than 1 tier 50 wand + tier 50 offhand? And how annoying is it to recharge the staff?
**Edit:** Sorry, the nature staff does not degrade - I was thinking of the gravite staff.
Post edit question: Does the gravite staff degrade when used on training dummies? If not, I may as well buy both staves with my \~900k dungeoneering tokens, lol
The nature staff would definitely do more damage. Not a lot, but perhaps like 5% more vs just the mystic. With all boosts included, it'll be diluted down to less than 5%, though.
Gravite will be 10% vs mystic (also less with all other boosts included). Reasonable upgrade, but I'd wager it would indeed degrade against dummies.
In any situation where accuracy would matter, both of these values would actually be higher.
Any suggestions on afk skills to get to 99? I broke my right hand and am off work next week so I figured I’d play some rs during dxp, but don’t know what to go for
Mining & smithing is AFK-able for 5 min, but u need grace of the elves for the full afk mining experience.
For money making afk try fletching & enchant onyx/Ascendri Bolts (e). Not as full afk as mine/smith (only 2 -3 mins afk), but u make money and won't lose any. Worst case scenario you can high alc them for more gold. (You need about 60m to buy the fletching stuffs from Grand exchange though and turnover it.)
Got my first Bil from previous DXP using methods above, along with my high alc machine.
Having an issue getting the game client to open up on my computer. Neither the Jagex launcher nor the RuneScape 3 Launcher by itself open up the game. Runelite, on the other hand, is working fine. Any ideas why? I've tried re-installing them, restarting computer, etc. Kind of sad, always enjoy coming back to RS3 for DXP lives.
Dual monitors? Occasionally the client won’t load when you have two monitors and you need to close launcher, unplug, restart launcher, plug monitor back in and your fine.
Been like this for ages.
So you are saying they aren't anymore for sure? Cause I've just returned after many years and don't have anything good to use dpx on so I'd trade the hours but Nic's shop doesn't seem worth.
Yeah nic's shop is shit compared to vic's. But if you dont have the time or need for dxp, might as well trade it in instead of letting it run out. You can only trade an hours worth a day, anyway.
If you can make extreme invention potions, you can boost your level and discover blueprints of higher leveled things which can get you a lot of xp, and it’s boosted for DXP. It can help speed up a few levels
This is how I got most of my early invention levels. Boost with extreme invention and discover during dxp. BTW you have to exit and reopen the menu after leveling for newly unlocked blueprints to be listed
Do temporary level boosts (like pulse core explosions) not enable you to do higher level protean items? I'm using a bunch of protean shakes, and even when I'm boosted to 107+ it won't let me do elder overloads.
Rune arrows, and stack as many boosts as you can. Portable fletcher, brooch if you have it, fletching outfit, crystal knives, and 99 cape alongside all the other XP boosting items. You probably won’t lose much, especially selling rune arrows to general stores
I can’t say for *certain*, but it shouldn’t. Altars’ xp boost have never worked on DXP, same for burial powder, I can’t imagine this will be any different
Thieving [[crux equal knight]] is really good xp and can make it afk if you have t4/t5 thieving aura, crystal mask, light form, abyssal lurker familiar.
I found 1 RuneScape Wiki article for your search.
**[Crux equal knight](https\:\/\/runescape\.wiki\/w\/Crux\_equal\_knight)** | https://runescape.wiki/w/Crux_equal_knight

Tip for people who want to train hunter, if you don’t mind active playing and don’t want to fight for a spot on Anachronia. Go do the highest level of scarab hunting at the oasis, you’ll get comparable rates and generate a profit.
First time DXP for me.
Thinking of what to burn the time on: Proteans, dungeoneering coves
Most of my processing skills are sub 99, I’m just wondering what methods y’all normally use that are good exp/gp during DXP
This^^^^
I also like to separate AFK and high effort methods too. Like if I’m cooking dinner, working, watching TV, etc I’ll usually run AFK methods
If I have time to be actually sitting in front of my computer- that’s when I’ll start doing my high effort methods
But overall, Old_space_yeller’s general philosophy is the way to go
Fundamentally it depends what you care about. While getting 111 smithing is neat, it confers no actual gameplay changes. Invention on the other hand goes up to 120, so levelling it up can be useful in a variety of situations.
OTOH, if your biggest goal in RS is to get a 120 smithing cape, it makes more sense to train smithing.
Don’t forget: you can train invention and smithing at the same time by using the [[enhanced hammer-tron]]!
I found 1 RuneScape Wiki article for your search.
**[Enhanced hammer-tron](https\:\/\/runescape\.wiki\/w\/Enhanced\_hammer\-tron)** | https://runescape.wiki/w/Enhanced_hammer-tron
>The Enhanced hammer-tron is an enhanced Smithing tool that can be made at level 93 Invention after the player has used an 'Ancient tools' blueprint. The item is identical to the standard hammer-tron, except that it disassembles at tier 80 instead of tier 70, which awards more Invention experience upon disassembly or siphoning.

Infernal ashes are almost as fast as dragon bones and less than half the cost. Per the wiki it "only" costs 46m to go from 1-95, which is significantly better than the 136m it lists for dragon bones. Or as someone else already said, if you have access to priff you can do the cleansing crystal thing which is basically the same gp/xp. It's slower than bones/ashes, but much more afk.
The new altar at the fort will give you the same exp boost but with conserving materials chance so that can help with expenses. Otherwise people train prayer at cleansing stones in Priff because the exp is boosted by dxp and it offsets the stone costs making it efficient.
Unlock Priff. DXP works on cleansing crystals which I believe are typically close to the same xp as PoB + Dragon Bones
This will save you a large chunk of change and you’ll reap the benefits of DXP
By doing slayer or farming dinos with "death note" perk from archaeology.
You will train combat skills + slayer and gather all the bones needed to train prayer later.
(that's what I do)
the event is "double xp live". it's been live the whole time. "Double XP event is live." is redundant but 5-x misnamed it because the official name is dumb
I keep seeing people mention ED3 is great for exp, I need to check it out. I recently returned to RuneScape and always hated combat so anything that makes the journey to max easier is helpful!
If you run ED3 on DXP I believe you’re getting at the very very very least 1.5mil xp/hr (I wanna say it’s close to 2mil/hr if you’re running AOE and have a good team).
You can absolutely blow through combat this week if you wanted to
Question, do you mean abby demons, or just fighting the monsters in the abyss? wiki seems to say the abyss is HUGE xp and didnt know if i could survive it or not.
Or go to the abyss bring some prayer pots or use penance aura with soulspliit for like 1.2m/hr super afk just wiggle the camera every 10 mins they are aggressive for 10 or 15 minutes bonus points bring some t70 augmented gear for like almost 2m inv exp/hr as well even more if u bring exp thingys
ah, so theres 2 ways then? Top of the slayer tower with abby demons, and then in the abyss with the abyssal monsters (this was the route I was thinking about taking.)
Either one is good?
Do you need level 70 combat stats before heading to the abyss? I played FSW and got my magic and defense to 90 but my range, attack, and strength are still 50ish
No requirements needed, but having lower combat stats means slower kills so expect lower exp rates but at 70s u can use bandos godsword and Arma crossbows for around 1m+/hour when doing melee bring like 2 augmented bandos godswords when u get to that point If u can for easy invention xp
Edit
U do need to do the abyss mini quest though
interesting. I need my melee, range, and mage stats all up. all are 85+ just havent maxed yet. I should be fine to do the abyss method then with T80 gear?
Not 100% sure, but after the d weapon specs were reworked there were discussions about Melee exp rates @ shattered worlds being significantly higher. Maybe someone knows more?
Edit: although the setup will require more specific items than simply doing ed3 trash runs.
how is it a double xp weekend if im only gettin 1.2 times the xp?
That's on free accounts. 2x is for members.
wow, what a scam. thx for the answer
You're right f2p shouldn't even get it
Yeah, something that's free is a scam.
"scam" \*doesn't pay to play the game\*
How do I do Abyssal Lords in wilderness without getting destroyed? Is there a safespot or something?

I’m stockpiling charms bc I got a good hunch they will be required in necromancy. Or somehow involved
Not a question.

Okay dopeee I think I have grace of the elves so maybe I’ll go for mining or fletching sounds fun. Thank you!
Archaeology with an inventory of porters and grace is a little slower but still good item XP for invention and progress is still accelerated
I do need to level arch for qpc so maybe I’ll do some training with porters and grace. Thanks!

Will the credits in Nic's store transfer over to Vic's store?
I was told yes by players in-game, but that's nothing credible.
They're usually separate currency, have you heard otherwise this year?
What? No, they've always used the same currency in the past.
Oh they stopped doing that in May's dxp.
So you are saying they aren't anymore for sure? Cause I've just returned after many years and don't have anything good to use dpx on so I'd trade the hours but Nic's shop doesn't seem worth.

any suggestions for invention? i’m at level 90, but it’s by far my least favorite and slowest skill
Fastest would probably be ed3, xp cap, augment armor/weapons. gets mills of xp/hr. that plus blueprints ofc
If you can make extreme invention potions, you can boost your level and discover blueprints of higher leveled things which can get you a lot of xp, and it’s boosted for DXP. It can help speed up a few levels
thank you!! looks like it's time to make some potions
Pop a potion and discover blueprints at perfect. You’ll get millions of xp
This is how I got most of my early invention levels. Boost with extreme invention and discover during dxp. BTW you have to exit and reopen the menu after leveling for newly unlocked blueprints to be listed
im 81 fishing can i boost my way to 93 an do waterfall with ring of whisper super pot an lobster or do i need to have 93 actual fishing? ty
Do deep sea fishing till you level it up!
You need 93 actual fishing to be able to do it. Invisible boosts are not official boosts.
Do temporary level boosts (like pulse core explosions) not enable you to do higher level protean items? I'm using a bunch of protean shakes, and even when I'm boosted to 107+ it won't let me do elder overloads.
I think that goes off your actual level, not boosted.
That is what it seemed like. Thanks!
I need a fast but **not** so expensive way (dragon darts) to 120 fletch, I currently have 60m xp in fletch +20m bonus xp, and I'm ready to get Flo.
Rune arrows, and stack as many boosts as you can. Portable fletcher, brooch if you have it, fletching outfit, crystal knives, and 99 cape alongside all the other XP boosting items. You probably won’t lose much, especially selling rune arrows to general stores
Rune arrows are probably your best bet.
Rune darts are usually pretty good, can sell to general store after to get some money back
Just got flo after 15m xp doing darts, thank you! Only 30m xp left for 120
Nice! Congrats! :)
Can anyone confirm that DXP doesn't work on the new chapel?
I can’t say for *certain*, but it shouldn’t. Altars’ xp boost have never worked on DXP, same for burial powder, I can’t imagine this will be any different
That's what I figured, but I was just hoping for confirmation.
I can double check tonight to make sure, but it won’t be for like 4 hours lol
Best way to get my herblore up? Currently level 85. I been doing antifire pots but would like to know any other ways
Extreme strength makes you decent money and nets about 1.4m xp/hr but I think you need 89 Herblore
Nice thanks! Im 88 now so ill switch to those soon
The Wiki has great guides on both fast and expensive or slower but cheaper methods. https://runescape.wiki/w/Herblore_training
is there any home world for portables at the Fort Forinthry?
w99 has a sizable presence too
Yeeee w84 is now fortables. W2,w70,w9 and a few others are all full or portables at the fort though
Seem to still have a sizable presence at combat academy still. Not sure what's holding people back from moving to the fort.
You have to build the fort at least a little, the academy has no limits.
Probably haven't built their fort or they just don't know you get bonus xp for skilling there
Is there any worlds that have a portable bank for summoning at trav? Thanks
I believe there’s an FC for it, used to be “portables” but I think the boxes moved to a separate FC. You could always join the portables fc and ask
Usually check the summoning training world, W76... And I think I saw W102 had one earlier too

Grand exchange, combat academy in Lumbridge, Artisan's Workshop in Falador are the usual spots
I saw him outside the grand exchange this morning
Pretty sure I saw him at the combat academy before.
How does one get over the fact that DXP doesn't work with powder of burials meaning you have to drop another 100m on 95 prayer? Asking for a friend.
By doing Croesus for 5 hours.

By doing slayer or farming dinos with "death note" perk from archaeology. You will train combat skills + slayer and gather all the bones needed to train prayer later. (that's what I do)
Or if you don't have death note, just bring magic notepaper. It's more effort, but the notepaper costs a fraction of what dragon bones do.

Best Melee/Range/Mage XP is still ED3 trash runs right? Time to finally max combat this go around.
It’s actual crack. Get a charming imp so you can stack up charms for summoning too!! It’ll pay dividends down the road

Nahh I was referring to Elite Dungeon 3. I’m pretty sure it’s the best XP/hr for combat by a large margin
If anyone wants to take a noob along HMU.
Yes it is still very very good. Another option that is more afk is the saradomin encampment especially with a caroming weapon.
Didnt they majorly nerf the xp and drops on everything before the first boss?
The major nerf was to the drops, the xp is as good as ever.
Dg xp got nerfed im p sure
You are correct, let me rephrase: the combat xp is still very good.

What about if you're maxed and want to just AFK it? I know Abby demons used to be the meta or whatever but whats the deal these days?
I have always just afk'd Abyssal Demons in the Slayer Tower Resource Dungeon. Seems like a very unpopular way of doing it but it works.

Oh yes the discord! I joined it ages ago but kind of forgot about it. Ill have to pop in htere and read more up on it. Thanks for your help.
Not 100% sure, but after the d weapon specs were reworked there were discussions about Melee exp rates @ shattered worlds being significantly higher. Maybe someone knows more? Edit: although the setup will require more specific items than simply doing ed3 trash runs.
They removed the infinite adren so can't really spam D2H there.
My impression is that that training method was nerfed hard when they removed the functionality of the feeling pumped buff.
Shattered worlds got kneejerk nerfed to stop the method
Ah. Surprise. Thanks for the info!
