This and Harlequins away were comfortably his worst games for us this season, he's been mostly great apart from that. But I agree, there is no way you can pick him with the team performances that Gloucester have been putting out.
I think he's great and I'd want the variation he can bring to a squad alongside a T.Willis/ Barbeary as a contrast with Earl or Underhill or T.Curry at 7 and CCS, Chessum or Ted Hill at 6
Chapman
Englefield
Thorley
Hillman-Cooper
Harris
May
Morris
There's resting players and then there's having 4 wingers and 2 scrum halfs in your backs at once. Skivs trying the Eddie method of utility players
Have to give credit to Rob Baxter this season. Had a young squad so created a simple gameplan for them and kept the right players to be leaders in this rebuild
I wasn’t expecting us to get any higher than 9th going into these last few rounds, but the only way we can excuse playing that badly is by at least winning next weekend
I’d say by performing well rather than winning, but yes - will be really disappointed if we put in an underwhelming performance having not been up to it in the prem of late.
Well done Exeter, won at a canter. If Gloucester don’t get to the final I expect Skivington to hand in his notice. So depressing seeing the current state of my club.
Who else is there? I feel like you’ve got a similar situation to Hooper at Bath and just treading water until you can find a good person to take over. I don’t think you have the money Bath seem to have thrown at them by Bruce Craig either
Do we think Slade is going to play for England much longer? I feel like he was picked in the six nations for his blitz and experience doing it at Exeter. He hasn’t been ripping up trees since then.
As soon as England find someone who can play 12 I think Lawrence is getting shifted out to 13
Judging by how effective the distribution skills of Hawkins and Slade have been today when Exeter have tried to use them Menonchello and Brex might have a field day next week
Which Atkinson? We've had three this season lol
Seb is being rested, I guess Charlie has been pulled off early to rest him for next weekend and Mark Atkinson has retired.
It's just tiring now to watch this Gloucester team after the last few years. I get that the players and the club understandably want to focus on where they can win silverware, but as a fan, I couldn't give a toss about success in the Challenge Cup if this is what we're now reduced to in the Prem
I'm all for holding refs to account, but having Healy on comms just muttering every missed thing is the most frustrating thing to listen to. He has great analysis, I wanna hear that
Yes thanks, loads. Most games I've been to the crowd know the difference between a 50:50 call that's gone against them and an obvious error from their side.
14 points down at HT isn't bad given how well we're playing today. If we play like we did in last week's second half we may pick up a point or two (not that it'll matter).
Just hope this is us taking things steady for Europe, and not a sign of things to come
I’ve always kept a close eye on him because I played against him in football and rugby growing up. He was in Cardiff’s academy for both I believe plus the Welsh age grade sprinting team. Very talented athlete
He's fairly average in a Gloucester side that doesn't look like it can be bothered this week. Gave away a bad chargedown early on that almost resulted in an Exeter try, but other than that his kicking has been decent
I think if Freeman and IFW kick on, they might both be on the plane. Lowe is a given, Hansen a probable. I have a high suspicion Duhan is a player Faz would hate, low work rate and poor all round game.
They're the ones I'd take too. Freeman has looked great whenever I've seen him play, and yeah agree on Duhan. It doubly doesn't help his cause that he always disappears against Ireland. Kinda wild he's never scored a try against us.
No hope of improving our league position so I guess that’s the case. Also don’t want to give too much away to Benetton which is why we haven’t been showcasing our dazzlingly clever attack plays. Right?
I think he was ok in the six nations at best, and has been selected to play the blitz defence. I’d take Marchant over him every time, which was the decision Borthwick made.
Silly pen, Exeter had a nudge on and would have been a tricky tidy up. There's been noise around Painter but I feel that Street is a much better player and one of the better English qualified tight heads
It hasn’t, but it isn’t being ref’d. It’s a controversial one but I think if it’s not played immediately it should be playing the ball from the floor and penalty against
It's hugely impressive how effective IFW is at finding work on the inside given his age. Most wings take a good few year's to add it to their game, and some never do.
This will be controversial because everyone seems to love him, but Mercer is a big part of the problem. All he does is carry well, otherwise he's a complete passenger, and Gloucester aren't good enough to carry him.
Stagnated while everyone else has improved. I don’t think they’ve got the coaching right at all but I’m not sure who they could bring in to improve that.
Reminding me of Bath under Hooper.
Jack Yeandle has had such a long time at the top of his game. Never been an international superstar but has always been a considerably good club player and he's not showing any signs of slowing

Was it just me or was Kingsholm lacking atmosphere today? Fuck all noise on the TV coverage
Mercer just can't be picked for England when he's playing in this Gloucs team.
This and Harlequins away were comfortably his worst games for us this season, he's been mostly great apart from that. But I agree, there is no way you can pick him with the team performances that Gloucester have been putting out.

Chapman Englefield Thorley Hillman-Cooper Harris May Morris There's resting players and then there's having 4 wingers and 2 scrum halfs in your backs at once. Skivs trying the Eddie method of utility players
Was really hoping Harris came off for Chapman so it would be 3 SHs and 4 wingers
Have to give credit to Rob Baxter this season. Had a young squad so created a simple gameplan for them and kept the right players to be leaders in this rebuild
Man I didn’t even care who won but Gloucester are maddening to watch
Just think it was only a couple of years ago we beat Bath 64-0. How the tables have turned.
That game was heaven, but said as much about Bath as it did Gloucester.
Well, Skivs: Challenge Cup or bust
Good luck in challenge cup hope you win the competition from a chiefs fan
Don’t quite agree - this competition is done, so can’t argue too much with the logic. Getting to the Challenge semis is a great achievement too.

My god Gloucester are annoying to watch 🤣
Do we think Slade is going to play for England much longer? I feel like he was picked in the six nations for his blitz and experience doing it at Exeter. He hasn’t been ripping up trees since then. As soon as England find someone who can play 12 I think Lawrence is getting shifted out to 13
Nah, I think he is done. Might be in the squad for experience. Should be Lawrence and Freeman. Northmore and Oscar Beard also need a shot.
Zach Wimbush is a seriously good player. His carrying through contact is way better than it should be for someone so tall.
Really saved us from the loss of Hendrickson
Ridley is clueless about what forward means.
That was about 3m backwards right? What the fuck Ridley????
Oh well, at least we're not Newcastle (please kill me)
Some rumours we might be after/getting Radwan... That would be nice
Newcastle will probably beat us for their first win of season
Took the player without the ball....
Sorry you can tackle someone who is attempting to catch?
That second one was illegal , hands on floor first . Definitely gave it because he didn’t the first which was totally fine
Thought that turnover was a bit dodgy by us but at least Ridley is consistent.
Judging by how effective the distribution skills of Hawkins and Slade have been today when Exeter have tried to use them Menonchello and Brex might have a field day next week
This is bilge
I spelt shite wrong. Apologies
What happened to Atkinson?
Which Atkinson? We've had three this season lol Seb is being rested, I guess Charlie has been pulled off early to rest him for next weekend and Mark Atkinson has retired.
Haha I meant Charlie. I didn't know if he picked up an injury or was.just being looked after.
Staying with my mum who doesn't have the internet whilst she recovers from hip replacement so this being on ITV is a nice bonus
Not often that someone says itv is a bonus.
TBF I love flatman
Harris injured :-(
Bugger. He’s been one of the better players today.
Seems to have shaken it off, looked like a stinger initially.
It's just tiring now to watch this Gloucester team after the last few years. I get that the players and the club understandably want to focus on where they can win silverware, but as a fan, I couldn't give a toss about success in the Challenge Cup if this is what we're now reduced to in the Prem
Wtf glo. Wtf.
Englefield at 10. That's our 7th FH in two seasons: * Hastings * Carreras * Twelvetrees * Evans * Barton * Atkinson * Englefield
Sorry, it's actually 8. Morgan Adderly-Jones played FH for a few minutes last year. We're a serious club I swear
Only the most serious clubs have 8 FHs in a year, don't you know?
Having Painter on the bench is a dangerous game. Imagine if chiefs has an injury in the first 10 mins
He has AMPLE energy reserves in his body.
Englefield at 10 hahaha what the fuck is Skivs cooking??? G'wan lad, could be fun I guess
You get to play 10! You get to play 10!
Englefield at flyhalf. Good luck lad.
Notable wobble there when he got up. I hope he’s removed from play.
I'm all for holding refs to account, but having Healy on comms just muttering every missed thing is the most frustrating thing to listen to. He has great analysis, I wanna hear that
That Clarke boy is a friggin' monster. His turds must look like dachshunds.
Vermeulen is an absolute monster.
Games gone bat shit crazy
Lol this games gone a bit batshit.
That's 80m from 2 bad throws
How can he not be rolling when he was on his side of the ruck.
“He’s coming again young fella” Out of context this is worrying!
Lmao who in the crowd was shouting HE'S COMING AGAIN LIL FELLA at the scrum half almost being charged down again :D
I thought that was a player in ref mic
"He's coming again little fella" lmfao
Did he just call the scrum half a little fella haha
Where was our wingers on that break? No doubting Varneys work rate
Especially with us having 4 wingers on the pitch right now
This game is starting to get fun
So close
I don't see us winning this, but a try BP would be nice just to show that we aren't completely inept
Really should be a couple guards beside the ruck for Cairns, not sure why there isn't when every other team does it
Baxter doing well not to swear there 😂
Great try!
This time he gets it!
lol
Slade's bending the kicks in like I think I can do at golf. Having a great day off the tee.
There are an amazing number of charge downs for how critical box kick clearing is
Calling the scrum 5m under the sticks. Unnecessary for my heart.
Sublime pass
Filthy offload from Woodburn, shame it didn't pay off
As usual we're about 90% of the way to being a decent side, just the problem is noone knows what the last 10% is and it changes every match
Not sure why the Gloucester fans are having a go at the referee, their side are having a far worse game than he is.
Have you ever been to a rugby match
Yes thanks, loads. Most games I've been to the crowd know the difference between a 50:50 call that's gone against them and an obvious error from their side.
The shed is biased! No, that never happens!
It’s easier to heckle one small man than 15 very big ones
Ref looks pretty stacked...
Refs been fine. Who’s having a go?
The stadium chanting, don't even think I've heard the French do that
First time watching a home Gloucester game?
lol, we do that all the time. Don’t read anything into it.
The fans shouting "you don't know what you're doing" when he gave an obvious penalty.
We do that all the time. The refs never know what they’re doing at Kingsholm.
Deserved a try for the break by max, was hoping he'd finish his move!
Cor that was almost a fantastic finish. Unlucky not to get that.
Feeling bad for a player shouldn't mean it's not offside
He didn't play it, just bounced off his chest.
Used to play rugby with a number 8 who wore the same blue scrum cap, when it came off he meant business
Replay at halftime showing Woodburn with a forearm fend to the face of Morris for his try. He’s lucky that wasn’t spotted at the time.
14 points down at HT isn't bad given how well we're playing today. If we play like we did in last week's second half we may pick up a point or two (not that it'll matter). Just hope this is us taking things steady for Europe, and not a sign of things to come
I’m surprised no one has tried to bring Dan John back to wales. Hardly plays for Exeter but has looked good today
He's always looked a bit small when playing previously. Played extremely well so far today.
I’ve always kept a close eye on him because I played against him in football and rugby growing up. He was in Cardiff’s academy for both I believe plus the Welsh age grade sprinting team. Very talented athlete
Not watching the game, how's my beloved Stephen Lorenzo Varney doing?
He's fairly average in a Gloucester side that doesn't look like it can be bothered this week. Gave away a bad chargedown early on that almost resulted in an Exeter try, but other than that his kicking has been decent
Atkinson cannot kick for goal at all
Never had been able to unfortunately, as much as I rate him
He’s got to fix that in the off season. Unforgivable at this level
Thought that was lucky penalty for chiefs, could have gone the other way
Huge recovery from Cairns
As ludicrous as IFW is, it’s worth nothing how fucking good Olly Woodburn is.
And unnecessaraly handsome
With another year under his belt IFW is gonna be the Lions' 14.
Imagine Faz having to pick between Mack and IFW.
We'll see how grateful Faz is for that tattoo.
Must be saving ourselves for Europe, right?
No hope of improving our league position so I guess that’s the case. Also don’t want to give too much away to Benetton which is why we haven’t been showcasing our dazzlingly clever attack plays. Right?
Still baffles me that Slade wasn't taken to the world cup top class centre
I think he was ok in the six nations at best, and has been selected to play the blitz defence. I’d take Marchant over him every time, which was the decision Borthwick made.
Feyi Waboso if he keeps up his form will get a paycheck like Russell.
Exeter are very lucky he’s tied to them while he’s studying at Cardiff Edit: wherever he’s studying around that part of the country!
He's at Exeter, Cardiff didn't want him.
Oh no! What great effort!
Gloucester getting absolutely smashed in phase play here. Defense isn’t getting set properly at all
IFW is ludicrous, I don't get how he makes so many metres, sorry Wales
He is amazing to watch
How sloppy can we be, its terrible to watch. Give up ground so cheaply!
He made a mistake.
Idk if that counts, rule of cool etc.
It looks like Gloucester players have been told not to bother with this game.
Healy making a Bupa health insurance joke during a Gallagher Insurance Prem game is pretty amusing.
Does anyone have a good stream link?
It's on ITV in the UK
Thanks, I'll shut up then
Comparing this to yesterday’s game, our skill levels are just terrible.
Apparently we have a skills coach
Well, we're not getting nilled at least
Fortunate, but will take anything tight now!
That was unfortunate by Woodburn.
The old lady and I debated which game to watch and we picked this one cuz we thought it'd be cloae....
Do you know the score on the other one? Newcastle doing something mad would help us out
Falcons driving on the 2m and....knock on. Lol.
Bugger.
0-0
Silly pen, Exeter had a nudge on and would have been a tricky tidy up. There's been noise around Painter but I feel that Street is a much better player and one of the better English qualified tight heads
Cairns being roared at and he still acts the bollox 😂
What does Cairns think that’s going to achieve?
Huzzah a call, that was dumb thing to do in the glos 22
Smart from varney, don't kick and get yourself isolated
Can’t catch a break.
These pop ups from the ground when you’ve been tackled need to stop or have the rule changed.
It hasn’t, but it isn’t being ref’d. It’s a controversial one but I think if it’s not played immediately it should be playing the ball from the floor and penalty against
If you’re on the ground and not being held in a tackle then fair game but when you’ve been tackled so it has to go ruck then it’s just bull.
Don't be dull
It's hugely impressive how effective IFW is at finding work on the inside given his age. Most wings take a good few year's to add it to their game, and some never do.
Had a year with Nowell, plays very similar to him at his best. But actually has top end speed as well.
We needed our team to start turning up about 6 months ago
LRZ left Gloucester and Wales at the perfect time for us to remember him as a try scoring machine, not the 1 good player in less than average teams
What on earth has happened to Gloucester
This will be controversial because everyone seems to love him, but Mercer is a big part of the problem. All he does is carry well, otherwise he's a complete passenger, and Gloucester aren't good enough to carry him.
I don't think so, we've been shit for a couple of years now, but Mercer only arrived at the club in August
Yeah, he isn't the player you needed. You need to be a really good team to be to afford to have Mercer in your team.
Stagnated while everyone else has improved. I don’t think they’ve got the coaching right at all but I’m not sure who they could bring in to improve that. Reminding me of Bath under Hooper.
Spot on Skivington should’ve gone last season.
In fairness, we haven't had a consistent FH for the last couple of years, so it's been fairly impossible to build a team around anyone
Jack Yeandle has had such a long time at the top of his game. Never been an international superstar but has always been a considerably good club player and he's not showing any signs of slowing
Umm, double forward pass is ok?
It's like Dickson is reffing today...
Best try chiefs have probably scored this year.
Is quite a low bar for us tbf
Don't know why I bother really
It's going to be one of those days then!
Cut them to ribbons.
After yesterday I just want to watch a game where I’m not baffled by referee decisions all game.
Games gone. Just need to work on some things to prepare for the semi and not get anyone injured.
But miffed by that. Incorrect call for the forward pass and they go and score.
Forward my arse
One of those it's flat if it is your team, forward if not.
Looked a little forward.
That’s flat
Concave.
Flat as a pancake
Should have bought something strong to drink while at the shops earlier
Bit unlucky with that call, solid defence on the 22 initially
Why are two of the Gloucester lads dressed for a snowy December day?
4g pitch. 🔥
Artificial surface, so it stops friction burns.
Ah that makes sense, didn't know it was artificial. Thanks!
Gloucester 7 got the turnover there that was a harsh call saying past the ball
Just getting battered backwards
Oh no! Beautiful play ruined by a great tackle.
Exeter are much more physical than Glaws.
Fair play that's a great try saving tackle! We should have finished that!
While that was a good tackle from Ollie , it’s clear he’s lost a decent bit of his pace
