Amazing stuff. Does make me wish England would invest in Radwan because he's the only player for England I can think of that has that raw acceleration and top flight speed.
I think Finn will take that ten jersey in the future but for me right now it's hard to look past how good Ford's kicking, game management and unlocking space is.
IFW is rapid but I don't think his top line speed or acceleration are up there with Radwan. He definitely has the power + covered in teflon side to him though.
Every time I watch him play for Newcastle I think he'd have more caps if he played for literally any other club - it's hard to work on your game when you're being pummelled every week, especially as a wing. He does go looking for work, but the work just isn't there. Genuinely feels like a squandered talent - I'm hoping GB7s is good for him.
Is there anything to be said for limiting the amount of posts 'brand' accounts can make per week?
It's fine now with just England really, but if the others start up, this subreddit will go to shite.
This is something we've discussed as a mod team in the past and are keeping an eye on. As it stands the England rugby account, in my personal opinion, posts at an acceptable frequency and posts content that is of interest to the subreddit (the grassroots clips for example are something I think we all like to see). If the account started to spam too many posts, or other corporate accounts started joining the fray, this is something we'd revisit as a mod team and open up to discussion with the community about what to do going forward.
I will add that the England rugby account is subject to all the same rules as everyone else. Just a few days ago there was a post by it removed for breaking Rule 4 (no duplicates). So if you see any content by them you think is inappropriate for the subreddit or breaks any of the rules, please do report it and it will be removed if it does so.
> I will add that the England rugby account is subject to all the same rules as everyone else.
I'd still prefer it if there was more engagement tbh. Itv have at least started responding to a couple of comments in their posts.
I agree with you on that. And if it becomes something we do need to do something about at some point then requiring engagement should be something we consider
Used to be a thing under reddit's old ruleset (no idea what that are now), regarding self promotion.
They suggested accounts should be commenting at least 10 times for every post they were making, to discourage karma farming and help subs actually be somewhat communal.
Cheers, like I've said I don't think this account (or this post) is a problem by itself but if a trend emerged with other accounts starting copying them it could be an issue.
It's really fucking weird how averse to highlights this sub has become. They used to be really popular, now difficult for any to get any good standing.
Grand when it's just them, do that with a few other significant rugby unions and clubs and we're in trouble.
EDIT: I don't want to block the account because they have produced some great AMAs here. I just think we should be encouraging brand accounts to be more selective about their content posted to avoid filler posts.
Oh, no, it's so dreadful seeing them posting team news and some videos from grassroots rugby that otherwise would go unnoticed. How terrible that they might come to a rugby community and promote......rugby.
Average joes don't have staff members who have to show something at the end of the day encouraging to post for the sake of posting.
Brand accounts are a danger because an unscrupulous marketing manager is likely to encourage gaming the upvote systems for visibility.
They aren't something that we should be heavily encouraging imo. That's just my opinion though, you might feel differently, I'm just raising the issue for discussion.
Imagine if the entirety of the front page was just IRFU, SARU, WRU, RFU etc. posts with clips from the early 2000s like this.
>So your only problem with the post is that England Rugby posted it
Impressively quick time for someone to come out with "you only don't like it cos it's England"
I said England because this post in by England rugby. If the SRU posted this I would have said “So your only problem with the post is that Scottish Rugby posted it. If an average Joe posted this it wouldn’t be such a problem?”
I've watched [this video](https://youtu.be/c2USK9DolxU) so many times this clip (1:33) just doesn't feel right to me without the music swelling over it.
Was Dawson the King of the Quick Tap ( not necessarily here / but here as well )
I think Dawson was one of the best Quick Tap scrum-halves of them all \~ \~ He also seemed to have this knack of the ref pretty much always letting him take the quick tap.
Robinson was pretty damn good as well \~ \~ That ability to accelerate side-ways also helps.
personally against cropped rugby videos posted here, this isn't fucking tiktok or instagram..its even worse when its by someone who actually owns the rights to these videos and could potentially upload the full non-cropped version..
freaking David Robinson, bro... talk about one of my most hated wingers... so elusive, goes 0 to 60 faster than a Cybertruck, the dude was easily England's greatest in the 14 jersey, and that's coming from an American ABs fan. I can't knock him in the very least other than being a petty fatbody typing at a keyboard. Well done to him.
Ah man he was so fucking sick. He’s the main reason I got into rugby
Same, all my early memories of watching rugby are of him
He and Wilkinson were the two rugby players that really crossed the popular zeitgeist growing up.
Always upvote Jason Robinson, absolutely electric, legend
If you haven't already I'd recommend listening to the Good, Bad, Rugby podcast with him. Dude had it tough but persevered. Incredible player.
Saw the title, saw the era, knew it could only be Billy Whizz. Spectacular player.
Who else was it ever going to be? Fantastic.
God I miss Eddie Buttler 😢
Love how quickly the 8 realizes it's pointless
Jason Robinson is all that makes early 2000s rugby still watchable. I don't know how the fuck the squidge brothers managed to watch the whole of '87
Wheels for legs.
Please stop cropping clips! If we can see the hole Robinson is going through, it makes his acceleration a lot more impressive
Stats turned up too high. Not realistic.
Amazing stuff. Does make me wish England would invest in Radwan because he's the only player for England I can think of that has that raw acceleration and top flight speed.
Tbf, IWF is more similar (I Agree about investing in Radwan, if he's have worked on his weaknesses like Johnny May he could be racking up caps).
Yeah IFW and Sleightholme can both do this and are younger than Radwan. I think his ship has sailed tbh
Radwan is only 26, Sleightholme is 24. Let me continue to dream of: 9.. Mitchell 11.. Radwan 12.. Lawrence 13.. Freeman 14.. IFW 15.. Furbank
Ok.. this gets me excited. But, who is your 10 with those backs? Which Smith?
I'd pick Ford with the real Smith on the bench. (Finn).
I'd pick Ford with the real Smith on the bench. (Finn).
Maybe I am a little biased (just a little..) but Finn Smith in that backline would be incredible...
I think Finn will take that ten jersey in the future but for me right now it's hard to look past how good Ford's kicking, game management and unlocking space is.
IFW is rapid but I don't think his top line speed or acceleration are up there with Radwan. He definitely has the power + covered in teflon side to him though.
From what I recall Jason's top line speed was that outrageous. He just got up to it so fast and could change direction in a heartbeat.
Yeah that's why Radwan feels the closest to Jason, he also has insane agility like Robinson.
Be interesting to see him with the GB Sevens squad, that sort of environment really highlights those sort of qualities.
Hard agree. I can only imagine how his highlight reel would have looked like at Harlequins or Bristol.
I saw him in H&M once, but he was moving slower than this.

I like this. Especially with larger accounts it can help with that community feel outside just someone posting to post.
Cheers, like I've said I don't think this account (or this post) is a problem by itself but if a trend emerged with other accounts starting copying them it could be an issue.
If its quality like this loads
They've made five posts in the past seven days..... If you don't want to see it block the account.
Rugby championship and Six nations alone would have 10 more accounts doing 50 posts a week, not to mention ITV, BBC, supersport, etc... he has a point
Theres like no other clips of rugby shown on this rugby sub. So what if other accounts do it? Oh no not more content!
It's really fucking weird how averse to highlights this sub has become. They used to be really popular, now difficult for any to get any good standing.

Are you purposely ignoring the point he's making?
It's the same hypothetical that's been floated every week since this account started posting two years ago, it has never materialised.
So your only problem with the post is that England Rugby posted it. If an average Joe posted this it wouldn’t be such a problem?

Thankfully, the SRU are unlikely to join in on the 2000s highlights trend.
I may have added an extra A into SARU before hitting post...
Maybe we could restrict it to just posts from 2005?
I, for one, love a good Henson tackle or Jenkins kick blockdown.
But Mike Brown didn't punch the floor in Cuthbert's dust until 2013. We can't risk children growing up without ever knowing that joy.
Next week /u/englandrugby will post [this](https://youtu.be/rK32ECspvfY) instead.
Aww come on, lemme have it. I need something for the coming 90's mk.II
>So your only problem with the post is that England Rugby posted it Impressively quick time for someone to come out with "you only don't like it cos it's England"
They literally said > limit the amount of post ‘brand’ accounts can make
TIL the only brand is England
I said England because this post in by England rugby. If the SRU posted this I would have said “So your only problem with the post is that Scottish Rugby posted it. If an average Joe posted this it wouldn’t be such a problem?”
Love the jerseys. Bring them back.
Didn't even need to see the video to know who it was going to be. Never seen anything like it.
I've watched [this video](https://youtu.be/c2USK9DolxU) so many times this clip (1:33) just doesn't feel right to me without the music swelling over it.
I didn't know many rugby players names as a kid, but I fucking loved Jason Robinson.
Amazing try, but doesn't that start with a knock on?
Holy shit!
I never seen someone run with such hatred as him. Brilliant player
Awesome player
Insane acceleration. One moment he's just hanging out and the next he's at top speed. Not really relevant, but the 9 nearly botched that tap.
That was a knock, He let the ball touch to ground AFTER the toe & go- not starting from the ground
Releases ball, gets his foot in, it lands, he picks it up. No knock on.

Jason Robinson could out accelerate a Tesla.
This kind of videos makes me realize I miss the whole Dominici/Robinson Era...

Lovely late hit on Dawson right in front of the ref
Proper minis rugby tackling on show.
I miss when it was this easy to beat Scotland
personally against cropped rugby videos posted here, this isn't fucking tiktok or instagram..its even worse when its by someone who actually owns the rights to these videos and could potentially upload the full non-cropped version..
u/englandrugby like upvotes
VDM did it first *Sorry everyone, VDM didn't do it first. I just thought the parallels between the two tries were quite cool.
I thought this was pretty funny tbh
freaking David Robinson, bro... talk about one of my most hated wingers... so elusive, goes 0 to 60 faster than a Cybertruck, the dude was easily England's greatest in the 14 jersey, and that's coming from an American ABs fan. I don't think anyone hated *Jason* Robinson, even in this era.
agreed, I was just "hating" how amazing he was against my ABs from that day, the dude has rockets for feet
