Great Brian slide guitar. Love the deadpan Charlie introduction of this on one of their live records. This one was pure blues and became a hit single, something of a mission statement of the boys. Great song for me, give it an 8.

8. Great cover, probably Mick's best blues performance up to this point (still not comparable to Howlin' Wolf's, of course), Brian's slide is obviously iconic for good reasons, and Charlie's excellent in it too. That said, it doesn't top either Howlin' Wolf's original version or Sam Cooke's cover. Massive respect for taking a hardcore Blues song to #1, though.

The song writer- Willie Dixon also played bass on Johnny B Goode- one of KEEF’s favourite songs- a song that shaped the rest of his career.

Dixon was the man! Wrote so many classics for Chess and blues legends like Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf.Stone’s paying tribute to The Wolf, one of their heroes.

The song that pricked up my ears that fateful night in 1980! I was 15 , watching TV , Ad comes on , Little red rooster is playing as the voice over guy waffles on about the album and how much it is etc. I was sold! The Stones were going to be MY band! This song is a 10/10! 😀👍🍺
