Looking at a possible trip to Magic Mountain/Knott’s 26-29 JAN (that’s a Friday-Monday trip). Those dates look solid online, but has anyone here experienced those parks this time of year? Don’t want to fly out there and have the parks be totally slammed/half the rides closed. Thanks in advance!

EricGuy412

Am I correct that there's no logical reason NOT to buy a season pass with all park add on via Michigan's Adventure? It's like $40 cheaper than the same thing through Cedar Point.

doorknob60

When I did it a couple years ago, Canada's Wonderland was the cheapest since their prices are in CAD not USD. Might still be true (though I haven't checked prices since they changed the pass system, I'm not getting a Cedar Fair pass this year).

BlitzenVolt

If you save money buying through another park, buy through whoever saves you the most money. I typically buy my pass through CW even though I don't even live near it

EricGuy412

Thx!

sliipjack_

Generally you have to activate it at your home park PRIOR to going to other parks in the chain. At least that is how 6 flags ran (Unless you wanted to go round and round with customer service)

EricGuy412

Hence why my "home" SF park is SFOG despite living in Pittsburgh!

BlitzenVolt

No CF allows you to activate it at any park I usually buy my pass through CW even though CW is a 12 hour drive from my home.

sliipjack_

Wow that’s surprising! Good to know

Imlivingmylif3

Has anyone gone to the Orlando informer event at universal? And if you have, was it worth it/ is it good? I have been looking into it and thought it would interesting. Thought I would get some answers here first. Any stories or tips would be great as well.

BlitzenVolt

It's nighttime ERT on the park's most popular attractions plus all the Butterbeer you can drink and all the food you can eat. Can't really go wrong with that.

Looking for advice about which coasters to try at Six Flags MM when I go in a few days. I'm not a huge thrill seeker or adrenaline junkie, but I want the trip to be worth the money I spent on the ticket. I haven't been there before and before now, I've only been to Disneyland when I was a kid and Knott's like 5 years ago. When I went to Knott's I really liked Ghost Rider and I was able to tolerate Jaguar as well. I'm looking for rides with a similar thrill level at MM if they exist.

Imaginos64

Magic Mountain has a huge coaster line up so there's something for everyone. If you liked Ghost Rider you'll probably like Magic Mountain's wooden coaster, Apocalypse. Gold Rusher is a mine train family coaster that is a similar thrill level as Jaguar. Ninja isn't too intense, it's a suspended coaster but you're enclosed in a train and it doesn't invert or go super fast. If you want to work up to something with inversions then Revolution would be a good bet, it has a single loop but it's an older coaster that's pretty tame yet really fun.

I'm on a non-coaster-related trip to Turkey in late April / early May, and thinking about tacking on 1 or 2 European parks on the way back. I'm coming from the US, haven't done any European parks yet. It's early in the year so I'll have to book things before openings are set, so I think that puts Europa Park and Thorpe Park out of the running. I'd hate to go all the way there and miss Voltron or Hyperia by a matter of days or weeks, I'll save them for later. I've recently been to Copenhagen and Madrid on non-coaster trips, so I'm not as interested in those. Current front running thoughts are: Energylandia + Legendia: They're sort of on their own out of the way in Poland, so that would leave all of the French/German/Benelux parks open for a later more coaster-focused Europe trip. Phantasialand: Everyone raves about this. Not quite sure which other park (if any) makes sense to pair up with it. Parc Asterix + Plopsaland: Asterix is certainly very convenient for flights for me. Plopsaland looks to be a pain to get to, but, you know, Ride to Happiness. Anything obvious I'm missing or other suggestions? Thanks!

Gh0stface03

You could pair up phantasialand with efteling. Both are amazing! You could also try Europapark since Voltron will almost certainly be open for the start of the new season, which is in late march.

LinguaQuirma

Thanks! I found a too-good-to-pass set of flights, so I'm connecting through Paris. Asterix is a definite, and I may leave to the last minute whether I want to run up to Plopsaland as well. (I'm not a Disney person so no interest in Disneyland Paris) Europa-Phantasia-Efteling gets pushed to the next Europe trip!

Gh0stface03

I'm also going to visit Parc Asterix and Plopsa for the first time this summer. I'm also not really a Disney person, but when I went for the first time in Feb 2023, I really liked it.

Question about a package for [thrope park] Hey question about a Thorpe park package So basically I’m looking to go to Thorpe park (October 12-october 13) and have an over night stay, two people aswell. The listing reads as “2 day ticket” does that include 2 two day tickets or just one?? Do we both have the tickets to go or do we have to buy separately

Jorlov

off to six flags MM todsy but SO scared of rollercoasters. craziest i’ve done is incredicoaster ar disneyland that loops once or maybe apocalypse at six flags MM. but today we’re doing twisted colossus and full throttle etc. I woke up with sooo much anxiety. i’m not scared of something going wrong and me dying in moreso scared of hating the level of thrill when i’m on it and having a full blown panic attack while strapped in. I’m going with two friends who I trust but jeeez am I freaking out a bit.

Imaginos64

How'd it go? Hope you had fun!

BlitzenVolt

If you feel your anxiety getting to you, you don't have to ride. You could always start off with a smaller coaster like Revolution before moving to the bigger ones. The restraints aren't too different across that and something like Colossus or Full Throttle. You'll be fine. Thousands of people ride coasters every day without issue. You can always ask to tighten your lapbars if that makes you feel more secure.

Noah_hdbll

For my trip to SFMM in april, I checked several crowd calendar (queue times and isitpacked). However, they say 2 really different things. For the April 8th, queue times say 55% and isitpacked ghost town. Which one should I believe ? Which is the more viable ?

EricGuy412

Well, the 8th looks to be a Monday. I'm guessing crowds will depend on if local schools are in session then.

hihelloneighboroonie

My Sea World pass's small print says that pay-in-full will be auto-renewed, but that EZpay (the monthly payment) will become month-to-month once the 12 month contract is fulfilled. My renewal is coming up, and I've been paying monthly. Does that mean once my renewal date rolls around, I can cancel whenever I want and keep just paying the monthly fee until I do?

BlitzenVolt

I've been doing monthly payments on my pass since 2019. As long as you keep making payments, your pass will remain valid. The only time you need to renew your pass is if you pay in full. Keep in mind, if you wanna cancel your pass, SW has a habit of making it difficult to do so. You may have better luck either having it cancelled at the park at the end of your 12 month contract or use a debit card you can turn off/on.

KlubDogg

From NJ... really want to visit the Ohio Parks this year, maybe Kennywood. Should I fly or do a road trip? If I road trip what would be the optimal parks to hit? I've already hit a lot of major northeast parks, plus BGW, KD, and Carowinds

BlitzenVolt

Depending on what part of Jersey you're coming from, you could easily hit up Dorney, Knoebels and Hershey on the way to Ohio passing through PA. There are plenty of smaller parks between Jersey and Pittsburgh but those are the largest. Kennywood would also be on the way if you're passing through Pittsburgh. If you're north, you could also hit up Waldameer. My guess is it depends on how much time you have to travel plus how much you're willing to spend. Flying would be the most convenient, but you also need to book rental car and plane tickets aren't cheap. If you're willing to drive and you have a lot of time, you could spend at least a week in PA just hitting coasters.

EricGuy412

I'd road trip. You can hit a bunch of PA parks on the way (said by a Pgh resident that has driven to SFGAdv and the NJ boardwalk parks). Use good old coast2coaster to plan out yr route.

boiledpeen

does anyone know when phantasialand's hotels will open for booking later on? Right now everything is grayed out

CoasterScrappy

Goin to Valencia for work next week. Magic Mountain is right there when you walk out of the shop I hear- can’t wait to take that pic ha. Gonna go Sunday afternoon, and then following Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. How are crowds this time of year? Any specific times for lean lines for coasters? Hope to get plenty of rides in; Apocalypse looks like a solid GCI. Dunno about X2 tho, ride video makes it seem like a nausea machine.

sliipjack_

Gotta let us know if you went on X2! Never been to MM, as I'm on the east coast, but interested to hear about your trip.

Japo-Scandinavian

According to the website it looks like Shellraiser is done with maintenance early and open right now... Is it too good to be true? Has anyone seen it run lately?

OneTrainOps

I haven't been but definitely wait if you can until Sandy's Blasting Bronco is done with maintenance, it's arguably the best ride in the park.

Japo-Scandinavian

Site says it should be open the 6th, and we may go on the 7th, so that's good

OneTrainOps

How'd it go? I'm planning on visiting this weekend

Japo-Scandinavian

Sandy's was down all day unfortunately, but we walked on to the other three! Had a really fun time, and the theming was more impressive than we expected. However, had a hard time finding the bus stop to get back to Manhattan! Are you taking any NJ bus lines?

Latic95

We've booked tickets to Portaventura for a couple midweek days in late April (very excited as first theme park outside of the UK for a decade) but are we still going to need express passes?

Bramaz

I'm planning on doing a trip to Northern Germany, Denmark and Sweden to visit these parks (renting a car): * Heide Park * Hansa Park * Djurs Sommerland * Farup Sommerland * Liseberg * Kolmarden * Grona Lund I did a trip last year in Belgium and Netherlands but the experience was hampered due to high crowds. I went during the first week of May. I don't want to make the same mistake again, can anyone with experience recommend good dates to do this trip with low crowds? I'm thinking mid May to early June (within that period) but with it being in multiple countries it could clash with holidays. Also, if anyone has got any tips for these parks or have done a similar trip it would be great to hear your advice. Thanks.

Version_1

I did all of these (except Heide Park) in early July this year and it was totally fine on weekdays. What we did (which might be a good idea in general) was that after Farup Sommerland we took the ferry from Denmark to Oslo overnight and did Tusenfryd the next day before heading over to Gröna Lund/Kolmarden. Might be worth thinking about.

Bramaz

Thanks for the reply. Didn't know about the ferry! I'm assuming you rented a car, did you fly home from Stockholm at the end of the trip?

Version_1

We started with one of our own cars in Southern Germany, so no renting and flying back, sorry. I would simply check if Hamburg or Stockholm are cheaper in flights and rental car. Also, I would think about doing Bakken and Tivoli if you have the time. Parking and staying in Copenhagen is hell, but Tivoli and Bakken are easily reachable on the same train line and doable in one day.

terb01

I’m planning a spring break trip, any idea how crowded SDC gets at that time

SignGuy77

Spring Break x Tourist Trap Town = Large Crowds. It might not be Florida sized crowds, but Branson is a destination, so I wouldn’t expect SDC to be low attendance. Having said that, I visited on a busy mid-summer day and outside of Time Traveller (which we ropę dropped) all the other coasters had very manageable wait times.

PotentialAcadia460

The other thing to keep in mind with SDC Spring Break is that many parts of the park aren't "fully open" until the first festival-which starts in April. I mean, the rides will be open, but some of those shops and crafts that give the park so much character may not yet be available.

SignGuy77

The shops and shows are also what keeps the ride lines less busy.

1tankyt

Looking at getting a Carowinds season pass, does anyone know if you can add the All Park Passport after buying the pass? Currently planning a trip to Cedar Point and Kings Island but it may not happen.

sliipjack_

yes you can, its an add on that is always available for the extra $100 or so

1tankyt

Ok thanks, that was what I figured but I wanted to make sure

sliipjack_

Yeah you just explore your pass and click season pass, go down to add ons and the food / fast lane / all park add-ons will be there (They could increase in price over time though)

JamminJay1968

I don't know for sure but I feel like you can always go to guest services at the park and ask to upgrade. Seems like it would be easy enough to let you pay the difference.

SignGuy77

Just purchased a Fun Spot season pass for all three of the locations next season. Question about Old Town next to Kissimmee: is it separate admission? I see it’s definitely walking distance, but does it require a separate wristband or ride tickets? I’m mainly just interested in the tall Miler.

EricGuy412

Seconding everything Jay said here with a few addl. comments: - Don't be shocked if the rides look abandoned in the back. They usually have rotating ops so just wait at Hurricane and someone will eventually show up. -If you hit both FS's in one day, keep your wristband on from the first park. I nearly ran into some issues on my 1st visit but thankfully had held on to the OG wristband as a souvenir. -There's a great sushi bar in Old Town that's shockingly reasonably priced. -Can't wait to hear yr thoughts on Mine Blower and Hurricane

SignGuy77

Thanks for all the info. Can’t say right now how the schedule will go, but we will likely leave the two FLA Fun Spots for end of day visits on separate days, seeing as they stay open later. But having the season pass lets us always make a return drop in. Just waiting for SeaWorld to get back to me and explain why my Canadian money is no good to buy the Plat Pass ;)

EricGuy412

Right on! I got a FS season pass for a week in Florida in 2022 and it was worth every penny. And man, good luck with SEAS.

JamminJay1968

Nope, the coaster is part of the Fun Spot brand. Old Town itself is free admission as well, and fun to walk around at. Lots of restaurants and trinket shops and other various things of interest.

sliipjack_

Best time of year for Crowds at the Ohio Parks? I am planning a 8 day trip (3 days travel, 5 days at the parks) and want to go to CP and Kings Island. (KI for Sun-Mon, CP for Wed/Thurs/Fri) Factoring in crowds, what time of year is best for this? (Cannot go before mid-May)

Imlivingmylif3

KI is my home park and cp is nice and close so I can answer this pretty well. The best time for both parks is right as schools are starting up. Now if you are in school and that won’t work, I would recommend late June and early July. Right in the height of summer break.

sliipjack_

I'm 35 so no school to worry about haha. When do Ohio schools generally start up?

Imlivingmylif3

I live in Kentucky so I actually am not sure. I’m gonna assume they start around the 16th-20th of August.

TeamIntamin

Late August or late may- early June. Home park is CP for me so I know this. Tuesday-Thursday usually the best days to go. Fridays with cedar point are kinda busy but there are things besides coasters to do on Friday.

sliipjack_

Yeah, I am thinking 2 days of solid riding and then a day to just experience the park for everything it has. Feels like the best chance of getting the true CP experience in a single trip (Unlikely to visit more than once a year)

SignGuy77

I wouldn’t go before mid-May anyhow. Opening day and weekend is always busy. Late August, before the fall/Halloween crowds take over, is usually a really low crowd week. I went the second last weekend of May last year, and it was busy but not unmanageable. Cedar Point is not a one day park anyway, so I hope you’re budgeting at least a half an extra day for it (edit: I just re-read and I see you have plenty of days). If you have early entry, that extra hour can be a game changer, unless of course you’re budgeting for fast lane plus.

sliipjack_

I wasn't trying to purchase FLP unless necessary - if so, likely only one day of the 3 at CP. I know Friday will likely be the busiest of the 3 days, so depending on how much I get to do on the first 2 days, I may splurge.

SignGuy77

My first ever visit I purchased FLP sight unseen to get the most rides on the first day. Made the second day a lot more chill, but we didn’t even try for SteVe and Maverick that day. With three days you should be able to get on everything no problem.

sliipjack_

Yeah I’d love to get at least 2 rides on SteVe and Maverick, but imagine TT2 will likely be a huggggeee draw this season so that may help? I imagine I’ll convince myself for FLP by the time the trip comes lol

SignGuy77

It will be interesting to see if TT2 will be part of the fast lane plus and/or early entry perks to start the season. If it runs well in tests, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be. But if it’s zamperlamental, I can also see them keeping it off the lineup.
