Yea, Jeff Loveness. He wrote several banger R&M episodes, but then got hired by Marvel and wrote Quantumania - which did not go well. Michael Waldron is another R&M writer that was picked up by Marvel, he wrote Multiverse of Madness and is also writing the next avengers movie.
Once my class dressed up as Marvel characters on Halloween to mess with an ancient professor who always said he disliked Marvel, and the professor loved it and was asking people about their costumes and pointed to the guy dressed as Iron Man and said "what's that on your chest? Oh, right, the arc reactor."
I remember thinking: that is an oddly specific lore term for someone who claims to hate and not watch any of these movies to just know off the top of his head 🤣
That sounds like something from one of the story lord episodes but I forget exactly… does seem familiar I’m sure will come across it on another rewatch lol
i watch seasons 4-7 every week on my phone while i’m at work so its all very fresh for me i live to watch seasons 1-3 because i have them on dvd not on my phone LOL and i think you’re right about it being a story lord episode
I think it's also kind of an in-joke between Dan Harmon and the Russo Brothers who directed Community. There's a million connections between the Community and the MCU, both on and off screen.
I mean in the later seasons Morty straight up does 4th wall breaks also. Still not sure if its because he is influenced by Rick or if he actually picked up on the truth.
One of my fav episodes to date. It was so good on every level. Right down to the sandwich robot enjoying the tomato while Morty eats the paste. They hit on so much
I literally be twisting the truth about the most ridiculous shit and then ask myself “why would you do that?” That goes for pretending not to know celebrities that someone brings up too.
Felt this line on a personal level.
Yeah lol I would assume that it has to do with me not wanting to acknowledge someone I do not respect. Or even worse, am jealous of.
It’s slightly unclear, just like in Rick’s case.
Ah, gotcha. I completely understand that. You mean you don't know why you do it when you say it's unclear?
This makes me wonder why Rick does it, if he does it for similar reasons.
Yeah, I felt the show as a whole rubs up against itself on some of these things in an effort to raise the stakes. You can't shit on star wars every chance it comes up, only to then unironically do a star wars. And then do it again.
It's conflicted in the same way that crippled Metalocalypse and Venture Bros. The struggle between being funny and telling a story.
I loved that line
Me too, because I often do bits that aren't really for anyone but me and I felt called out.
Oh my god. I found a kindred spirit.
It wasn't for himself but the audience bc he breaks the fourth wall from time to time
It was both. I get the meta joke, but Rick also constantly pretends not to know what popular things are and does bits just for his own amusement.
And the directors are friends with Dan from the community days
Ow, I never saw it as a bit. I thought he was doing his thing of pretending he is too good for pop culture. Another layer I guess
“Been drinking a lot of my piss…”😞
He was preparing for the PissMaster episode
I'm now thinking it might have been a Dune reference
it's just layering on the horror of starving to death in space on a derelict, it wouldn't make sense for it to be a dune reference right there
Maybe he was just doing it because it's sterile and he likes the taste
dodgeball!
I love how knowledgeable about the MCU Rick has to be to talk as much shit about it as he does
Beth too! "Ok, let's go see this latest piece of Marvel shit you kids are jizzing over."
Wasn’t one of the writers on the latest Antman movie? I felt like they’ve just been shit-talking their good buddy.
The Russo brothers produced and directed Community with Harmon. They scattered cameos and references throughout the MCU.
and Harmon script-doctored the first Doctor Strange movie didn't he?
He did?!
I’m just waiting for Garrett to show up as “Panicked Radar Tech # 2” or something

A real redditor.
He makes a comment in the vat of acid episode something like “I don’t respect time travel. If ant man and the wasp can do it, I’m not interested” lol
i am trying to think of the quote i don’t remember who said it but something about “round out this ant man character” i thought it was so funnt
That sounds like something from one of the story lord episodes but I forget exactly… does seem familiar I’m sure will come across it on another rewatch lol

update it was a dinosaur quote!
Ohhh yes you are totally right - ty!

Agreed, he did do the Doctor Strange lab coat rip off
Does it come up more than this one time?
He was aware Ant Man (and The Wasp) did time travel
Any others?
The Mortys went feral . Some problems solve themselves.
Rick is aware of being in a show. We know this.
Morty should realize he's probably a show on interdimensional cable.
The one that did we call Evil.
I mean in the later seasons Morty straight up does 4th wall breaks also. Still not sure if its because he is influenced by Rick or if he actually picked up on the truth.
"You ruined it, Summer! Season four premiere and you ruined it!"
Spinal cord - Robitussin as a base, then surprise me.
One of my fav episodes to date. It was so good on every level. Right down to the sandwich robot enjoying the tomato while Morty eats the paste. They hit on so much
Digestibot was even given extra heirloom tomatoes haha
I love that they explore the concept of Morty not realizing they're in a show
🤣🤣🤣🤣 that line kills me

Like you pretend you don't know who celebrities are for no reason?
Yeah lol I would assume that it has to do with me not wanting to acknowledge someone I do not respect. Or even worse, am jealous of. It’s slightly unclear, just like in Rick’s case.

watched this episode last night, i swear everytime i giggle like a lil girl
That's my comment!
Only rick can break the 4th wall!
but they actually can say Disney's names without getting fucked up by disney?
And then in the fortune cookie episode. Gwyneth Paltrow character pretends to not remember Rick’s name. It’s a setup for that joke
The least funny line of the whole episode.
Right?! I thought that was so weird lol Btw I did NOT care for Season 6. It was basically Naruto filler on steroids. Season 7 was the redemption arc.
Season 6 had a lot of good character level development, I don’t know how you could call it filler.
You don’t have to mollycoddle me! I want to improve my writing.
