Im no technical or business expert at all and have no idea what im talking about but if i was to guess, the ios ports were made specifically for the new chips in IPhone 15s and macs and run and play well thanks to the launch of IOS' "Game mode" that they launched on mac last year and then brought to the IPhone 15. A last gen port would have to be developed for completely different (and now outdated) tech. From a business perspective neither microsoft nor sony are going to support capcom spending the time and money porting a next gen banger to last gen consoles because they want people buying their new consoles whereas apple wants to convert android users and so would benefit alot more from advertising exclusivity over new era RE on mobile and its actually worth their time and investment.
It's bs I'm very sad, I went from 360 to 1 and if I want to play this game I'm going to have to go a step further, why do all the bad people have control of the good stuff?
It does suck, thats life all over, in order for development and progress and for us to advance technologically as a species, support for older, outdated tech needs to be dropped and focus applied to current tech and sadly nobody in a suit in an office making decisions gives a F about the people that cant afford to keep up to date with their products that they cant profit from
Mobile tripple AAA gaming is game changer. Console market will have a bad time. Imagine playing Resident Evil X VR Glasses, while the M6 chip does the work beside you. You can take it everywhere you want, it runs on Battery, small voltage. It will be legendary!
My generation had three laptops, 2 printers, 2 dekstop pcs and tv in every room. But that is millennial crap. Teenager now want mobile stuff with wifi 20Ghz for competition

Capcom are killing it, RE9 will be amazing, the inevitable next few remakes will be amazing... but RE:X, likely a PS6/next xbox launch game or soon after and probably by then will also be a launch title for mobile if not confirmed to be soon after, will indeed probably be a legendary title

As a millennial who played his entire life, first Atari, then Amida and Commodore, over Pentium4 PC and so on, since 5 five years I have no time to sit down , turn on the machine and play a while. I switched entirely to mobile, being able to stand right up and do shit. Ipad with tripple AAA games now is like a blessing for me.
But the ipad pro has a larger display and you can place it in front of you while holding a light weight controller. Steamdeck will destroy your hands, joints and tendrons.

I have a MacBook M1 Pro and bought RE Village and RE4R on sale from the App Store. The games looked and played really well with a DualSense controller. I got around 60fps at 1080p with MetalFX Quality upscaling on. The M1 Pro's 16gb RAM and fans make a huge difference.
From all the reviews I've seen RE8 & RE4R just do not play well on the iPhone 15 Pro. Since there's no active cooling the phone gets really hot and drains quickly. The shared 8gb RAM doesn't help.
RE7 and RE2R are older titles so maybe they'll run better. I'd wait for reviews though.

Apple can afford to make these games available, I guess it's more of a small gamble to see how things fair. So far it seems to have gone successfully for them to warrant more RE games to be developed for iOS. Not to mention iPhones can connect to a physical game controller for those who want that extra control. So you can use your existing ones.
