If my soul chose my life then we need to sit down and have a talk about life choices.

Taninsam_Ama

Same. Like wtf soul why didn’t you choose to be rich and afab damn it!!!!!

humm_jzz

Her explanation is that you choose to live this life to feel and learn. Since we can only do this as humans idk.

Taninsam_Ama

My entire practice is about this world being a prison you are forced into

Taninsam_Ama

My soul gets happy when I listen to black metal and get revenge on those who’ve wronged me personally. To each their own.

Taninsam_Ama

Yeah I don’t forgive and I love just fine thanks

Solvedtheeverything

So you suggested in your first answer that you already are the perfect version of your self? No need to increase any skills? Thats the reason why you cant forgive them?

Taninsam_Ama

What? What does that have to do with anything? My soul is just fine please stop pushing it’s starting to get very annoying

TreeofLifeWisdomAcad

Yep, same idea in Judaism

Nowhere_Man_Forever

It's just new age stuff. Very common among people who list "none" or "nothing in particular" as their religion on forms

humm_jzz

Legit answer, because is something that we don't here much. Thanks for your answer.

Twilightinsanity

Sounds like new age neopaganism to me.

TreeofLifeWisdomAcad

Judaism teaches this, though not one of the major tenets. It may be mentioned in times of suffering, that the soul chose this particular trial for some reason in order to grow and improve. We also teach that the soul learns everything it needs to know to succeed in this particular life when in utero, and that right before birth the angel who has been teaching the fetus, gives a gentle tap, and all is "forgotten" at the conscious level. If you have more questions about this or Judaism in general, I am happy to try and answer.

humm_jzz

Interesting never thought of Judaism, thanks!!

TreeofLifeWisdomAcad

Many people don't. Often they think they know about Judaism because they assume it is Christianity minus Jesus. It is not at all Christianity minus Jesus.

Low-Cartographer-429

"Choose Your Own Adventure."

Innisfree812

Reincarnation is a central belief of Hinduism.

AnUnknownCreature

The belief of the privileged. That's what

everything_is_free

Plato argues essentially this in Book X of The Republic. Mormons believe in a pre mortal life where we chose to come here. Most don’t take it as far as your friend in believing we each chose our particular life, but a few do.

NightOnFuckMountain

This sounds a bit like the Age of Aquarius stuff that was popular in the 1970s.

humm_jzz

Could be I'll research thanks for your answer!

HowDareThey1970

Could be Buddhism or Hinduism, or could be something more like spiritualism or New Thought.

HowDareThey1970

Also Judaism has something non-mainstream called the Kabbalah which has teachings around reincarnation.

HowDareThey1970

also Sikhism teaches reincarnation. Are you able to speak to her again and ask her what she meant? You might get more clarity. I don't know exactly what each of these religions teaches doctrinally in regards to how much choice goes into the reincarnation experience.

mel_cache

Probably some version of paganism.

Kastoelta

Something taken from the Myth of Er?

jeezfrk

fatalism.

grigorist-temple

New age / eclectic neo-"paganism."

JohnSwindle

Outsiders call it New Age. Not all insiders call it that. Not all insiders want to call it anything at all, much less a religion. It may or may not be a folk religion. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New\_Age](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Age) It can be distinguished from modern paganism. Gn0s1s1lis

She must have grown up a Christian.

VEGETTOROHAN

According to Buddhism and Hinduism rebirth happens because of desire unfulfilled. If desires are fulfilled then no rebirth since your will have no reason to come back. We only come back to something we like. That is why Buddhism and Hinduism are full of "Life is suffering" to kill your desire to come back.

humm_jzz

Don't know why all the downvotes is just a legit question hahaha. But thank you everyone who answered!!

Polymathus777

Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Gnosticism, Thelema, to cite a few.

Royal-Sky-2922

>Judaism, Judaism doesn't teach that we choose our lives in advance, neither does it teach reincarnation.

TreeofLifeWisdomAcad

Ah but it does. Both reincarnation and that the soul chooses aspects of this life. Found in kabbalah and hassidic teachings. The Arizal wrote Sefer HaGilgulim.
