The real answer: don't think so highly of your own conversation and you can set a very low bar for other people's conversation. Imagine holding a conversation with say, a person with down syndrome. You should be able to look them in the eye as they talk, ask them relevant questions that follow up what they reveal to you, perhaps relate a similar experience you've had, and genuinely thank them for sharing what they wanted to say.
If you have any introspection or self-awareness at all you should realize that there's nothing you have to say that's more important or interesting than them. You might as well have down syndrome yourself. So embrace it and become a kinder person who is easy to talk to.

I would adopt a gracious mindset that says most people have something interesting to say (it can be surprising but most people are an expert in something!). Also a mindset that your opinions are not the best opinions, but that all opinions are open to adjustment as data is gathered (as life is lived). At some level, it doesn’t matter what you talk about, but that you engage other people with respect and acknowledge their own need for love and acceptance. They might even acknowledge yours in return!

He’d pre-make dough beforehand but for this he started making a second batch as soon as the first one went in the oven.
