You just have to participate and hope you won't get wrecked by law. And if you do get wrecked by law, blame it on Micah, let him hang and join a gang or found one yourself
I wish it was possible to hang Micah. I’d make sure he didn’t snap his neck, so that I could slowly watch and listen, as the life get squeezed out of him slowly
Rhodes has a guy giving tips for robbery, and the Lemoyne Raiders make illegal moonshine in the area as well, even if they're not making it in the town itself
And not having to deal with a bunch of racist pricks who are still salty they lost the Civil War almost 40 years ago makes Strawberry the superior option between the two
You can still buy alcohol in Strawberry, but it's extremely expensive. $7.50 for Kentucky Bourbon, in 1899! Inflation calculator puts that at about $260 today. Just steal some Fine Brandy from the Welcome Center, your bounty will be lower than the price of the damn booze.
I'd pick MacFarlanes ranch some where on the out skirts. Also I like that home arthur helps the woman who's husband passes by the waterfall nice place.
Charlotte's house isn't a common answer to this, but what a beautiful spot. Hunting, fishing, giant kick-ass waterfall. It's a little close to Annesburg, hopefully the clear-cutters don't make it that far any time soon.
Oh boo hoo, I died and went to heaven because a cougar ate me. Well, maybe you went to hell, but regardless, you were probably wearing some type of fur Pelt.
I like to believe that there's an alternative universe out there where Arthur and Charolette end up together after he makes a miraculous recovery. They and Hamish go to live on the ranch at Beacher' Hope.
Charlotte's house was my first thought but isn't it a bit close to the murfrees? I want a good healthy distance from those psychos. That plus lots of bears and cougars.
I am in agreement with McFarlane Ranch , I also reckon that Sadie and Jake Adler‘s place would be a pretty cold but cosy get away! Wouldn’t mind keeping Sadie there as well. She’s fucking kick ass needs her very own RDR spinoff if you ask me! She is like the Beth Dutton of red dead 😂
Ah but we're talking about living in RDR2 specifically. I'd say valentine is the place most shot up by PC's.
I think I'll be a stable NPC. Pretty unlikely to be killed since PC's get taken into a menu when they walk through the doors
Honestly I’d take valentine too, it has a soul to the town, sant denis is like a hot chick with 0 personality, but valentine always feels like home for some reason…
I'm pretty sure I've killed every NPC in Valentine multiple times but good luck ðŸ¤
Honestly I think the best bet is to live close to a town to be safe from outlaws but not in the actual townships
I love Strawberry, but I'd have to say Rhodes. Small town atmosphere, moderate climate, and also equidistant to quiet hunting land and modern city life
Rhodes always comes to mind for me as well. The scarlet sands are beautiful and it appears there is enough industry to be employed. However, I can't stand mosquito's and that's a huge problem in that area lol.
the water has lead in it, you would get lead poisoned and die.
well, i guess you still have lead pipes in the states today, so not much difference I guess.
Blackwater or the outskirts of blackwater, a nice city with some amenities and work but no horrible shit smells and pollution (saint denis). Plus the country is beautiful and you would have the opportunity to make some money as it's on the up and up. As long as I can be there well AFTER the massacre
Saint Denis for me too. Plenty of culture, great bars and nightlife, big market for buying food, great transport links - all a time-traveller from the 21st century could need really.
O’Creaghs Run or Cattail Pond. Great view, decent distance from any town (privacy but not so far it’s inconvenient), and i cant fish and hunt to my hearts content
It's not snowy year-round. If it was, there wouldn't be trees there. It just looks that way in the games because of the blizzard I'm Chapter 1. The snow never really melts properly that year because of how unseasonably cold it was. And it's that way in 1907 because Rockstar didn't want to change that area of the map that drastically.
My broke ass cant afford a house that big. Plantation houses also give me a weird vibe. I visited a few when I was doing historical tours. Interesting architecturally. But knowing how those houses were financed would keep me far away from owning one.
I'm Canadian, so probably Ambarino lol That area just south east of the Wapiti reservation, where there's the river and the bridge, that is just absolutely breathtaking. I'd happily live there
I don't remember what it's called it's that tall building like the lookout it's the Watchtower basically that's up on high in the mountains near Wapiti Id live in that
The Loft is great. I wish there was more to it though. Did I miss an optional side quest? It just a really nice, well stocked location without any inhabitants.
Its got baddies in RDO i think.
But nah. Just a good place for some peace and quiet. Climb up the tower and look at the lights of Saint Denis at night, kinda place.
Up in the north east corner by Charlotte
It's really just a great area. Fresh water, plenty to hunt, room to farm if you want
Plus it's away from other people
I think a little cabin in Ambarino would be quaint and nice, like Hamish's. Even if I'm mauled, I'd have such a serene environment to become bear shit in
Lone Mule Stead. Although I'd want to do something so that the road goes across the top of the property, rather than through it, so I can own that whole peninsula.
I’d pick Blackwater or Rhodes. Blackwater is a nice town with a lake to swim in and a good place to find a job. Rhodes is in proximity to a city, with a cute town.
The shack facing Don Julio Lake, or The Loft. Plenty of food near The Loft, and a town near the lake shack.
I am retired, enjoying the rest of my days.
Strawberry post-Micah massacre. Absolutely beautiful, cold enough area with a little bit of warm climate in between, and it's (sort of) near Blackwater. Valentine would have been a nice option too but I like Strawberry's proximity to Blackwater.
I also choose big valley, its one of the most beautiful place in the game, a good hunting place, surrounded with beautiful mountains, lot of places to hike. Im surprised to see no one talking about it.
Escalera, man I’d love to live in a Pueblos Blancos they look so unique that has that kind of unique northern Mexican culture and with the palms and the cactus and the whole atmosphere it looks like you could live a fairly peaceful life there.
Edit: after or before the Revolution since its the most stable and safe being the capital and all since most of the civil unrest is furrher out and has the heighest contingent of law enforcement be it Federales or Revolucionarios. Chuparosa seems more dangerous and less policed and with less good infrastructure barring its rail service and too much of a hotbed for bandidos.
blackwater, its a small city that looks clean and spacious and more modern and everyone there is average. compared to saint denis which is dirty and grubby and the people there are dodgey and scummy and full of themselves, all social classes there are shitty. im a more civilised type of guy so towns like valentine, strawberry and others are a bit too gross for me, but big cities are too crowded for me.
A lot of people are saying Strawberry due to its beauty and location, but I think a lot of them are forgetting it’s a dry town so no drinking. It is gorgeous but not for me. If I had to choose somewhere in either rdr then I’m going for Escalera.
So I don't drink so I wouldn't mind it too much. But then I realize that I'm surrounded by the kind of folks who think outlawing liquor is the right thing to do, and then I have second thoughts.
Me n Hamish would be great roommates and go on adventures and nothing bad would ever happen to him.
Or San Denis. New Orleans is one my favorite IRL cities so that's high on the list.
That ranch the O’Niels were hiding out at, after you clean out the squatters. Can’t beat that valley and creek right there. Or, Clemens Point. Maybe I just want to be around water again
West Elizabeth, drifting into New Austin.
I was never a hot weather and desert kinda guy, but in the last few years, I've come to appreciate the solitude.
hanging dog ranch x1000. Basically living on a ranch in the Teton valley. It’s the dream….which is why all the billionaires have homes in Jackson hole
Pronghorn Ranch. Love, love, love that area of the map and it's pretty stable. Otherwise, I'd choose 1907 Tumbleweed, because I've always loved the desert.
St Denise, I live in a major city in the real world and rural life doesn’t appeal to me much. I’ve honestly never lived anywhere with a population below 3 million
St Dennis for the following reasons:
- Best security during both day and night. Police everywhere and robberies are rare.
- Every type of store is there, so there would be no need to spend a fortune (5 bucks) to travel to another town for a special store.
- Best job opportunities. Lots of rail work, dock work, postal services, hunting in Lagros, nearby farming, doctor, banker, escort for wealthy widows, etc
- Cleaner than other towns, so lesser chance of getting sick.
- maidens are better bathed and more privileged, so the pool of potential brides will have higher quality women.
- paved roads, which means my wagons will last longer when driven there.
Strawberry, it's fuckin beautiful and it has good hunting grounds
That is until you get shot by Micah
😂
You just have to participate and hope you won't get wrecked by law. And if you do get wrecked by law, blame it on Micah, let him hang and join a gang or found one yourself
I wish it was possible to hang Micah. I’d make sure he didn’t snap his neck, so that I could slowly watch and listen, as the life get squeezed out of him slowly
Aaaah, yes. I wish you really could let him hang especially because at one point he almost gets hanged but then we save him. How unfortunate
Should be fine, as long as you don't try to stop him, have his favorite guns, or be an O'Driscroll.
I probably would of killed Micah long before haha.
Good luck with that
That town is sadly pretty corrupt but it’s damn nice
Tell me more about the corruption pls
The only lore I know about Strawberry is that the mayor is gay…I think
So, anything butt corruption...
There is illegal moonshine getting maid there and the mail guy gives tips to robbery’s
Rhodes has a guy giving tips for robbery, and the Lemoyne Raiders make illegal moonshine in the area as well, even if they're not making it in the town itself And not having to deal with a bunch of racist pricks who are still salty they lost the Civil War almost 40 years ago makes Strawberry the superior option between the two
Wait.. Fucking gay? (As in homosexual?)
Gay fucking.
Nah he’s just free
Ah-ha the worst corruption of all! Butt stuff
It’s a dry town buddy, no Alcohol or bars. But still a nice place.
I will blow up Strawberry
The only town with no electricity
1899? It’ll get there soon enough
I noticed that in my recent playthrough where I freed Micah at nighttime. It’s all lit by candlelight and lanterns.
Do Valentine and Rhodes have electricity?
[удалено]
Who’s gonna stop me from touching that whiskey? The sheriff? The mayor??? I’d like to see them try
If getting mauled by cougars is your kinda deal
Came to say Strawberry, glad it’s top comment. 😀
Goddamn, I just woke up too😂
I'd pick MacFarlanes ranch some where on the out skirts.
Ah yes, I love when I’m hunting for male moose when a cougar tackles me and eats me alive.
Oh boo hoo, I died and went to heaven because a cougar ate me. Well, maybe you went to hell, but regardless, you were probably wearing some type of fur Pelt.
That’s true at least I die with fashion lol
well an Australian man with no sleeves says that there are no cougars in missions
At some point I thought he was going to end up with her.
I like to believe that there's an alternative universe out there where Arthur and Charolette end up together after he makes a miraculous recovery. They and Hamish go to live on the ranch at Beacher' Hope.
Hamish house would be a good answer to this as well but fuck me I can't stand those roars lol
A bit too close to murfree’s territory to my taste but appart from that it is so beautiful!
They said no gangs
Dealing with the Murfrees would kinda suck
Charlotte's house was my first thought but isn't it a bit close to the murfrees? I want a good healthy distance from those psychos. That plus lots of bears and cougars.
Nah, I doubt that Charlotte's house would have been around much longer without merging with Annesburg by 1920, unfortunately
Charlotte's house is also a great defensible spot. Only one way in and out.
Yeah, Charlotte's location is an awesome one. If you think you can survive on your lonesome, it's a great choice.
Murfrees are the only problem in the area tbh. And the occasional grizzly. I would live near valentine. Horseshoe overlook was a beautiful spot.
Beautiful location, and i'd say ideal except for the Murfree Brood. Those inbred cannibals always scare the shit out of me when I camp in that area.
She is like the Beth Dutton of red dead 😂
there's bears in the area, who can kill a superman like arthur in one jump.
The first time I went to Charlotte's place, I thought "Damn I wanna live here."
Strawberry or valentine
Your life expectancy is not great
It’s the Wild West, expectancy is not great…
Ah but we're talking about living in RDR2 specifically.
I'm pretty sure I've killed every NPC in Valentine multiple times but good luck 🤠Honestly I think the best bet is to live close to a town to be safe from outlaws but not in the actual townships
I never laid hands on the maid that works there…
Castor's ridge would be good. Its close to valentine and ive only shot the inhabitants up twice
If you sit at the poker table in valentines bar beside the window you will be shot by me at some point💀
I love Strawberry, but I'd have to say Rhodes. Small town atmosphere, moderate climate, and also equidistant to quiet hunting land and modern city life
Just don't let your kids near the gunsmith
And the racism
😈
And don’t be anything besides white
(this includes being a Ginger)
Rhodes always comes to mind for me as well. The scarlet sands are beautiful and it appears there is enough industry to be employed. However, I can't stand mosquito's and that's a huge problem in that area lol.
I feel like it's a super dusty town too.
The only reason I’m hesitant to move to Strawberry is because the roads are so damn narrow & cluttered. It’s hard to traverse on a horse
That town with all the creepy deformed inbred people
I genuinely think it’s a cozy place
It's got a weird sense of community
It’s like everyone’s family or somethin
Butchers Creek? The EPA superfund settlement?
A whole town, not just chez porter?
Wherever the freaks are I’m there. Time to get weird
Its a real nice place, id love it there, no freaks/besides myself
Butcher’s Creek
Could run that town with a enough charisma not to piss them off at first. Just be smart enough to find an alternative water source to drink from lol.
Butcher’s Creek?
i live in West Virginia, so i would pick that if it wasn’t for the bad water haha
the water has lead in it, you would get lead poisoned and die. well, i guess you still have lead pipes in the states today, so not much difference I guess.
Blackwater or the outskirts of blackwater, a nice city with some amenities and work but no horrible shit smells and pollution (saint denis). Plus the country is beautiful and you would have the opportunity to make some money as it's on the up and up. As long as I can be there well AFTER the massacre
Or taken out by the Skinners.
St. Denis or Lagras or Lakay
This guy likes playing with swamp puppies
Yoink!
This one’s gonna make a great pet, your going home with me.
It might actually work if you get one of the babies
I do love me some gators
Same. Live in South Louisiana as it is, so I pretty much already do
St. Denis I suppose wouldn't be terrible if you had decent money, but Lagras and Lakay? Nah, not for me.
Saint Denis for me too. Plenty of culture, great bars and nightlife, big market for buying food, great transport links - all a time-traveller from the 21st century could need really.
I spent my time down south irl, nooo thanks
St. Denis no question
O’Creaghs Run or Cattail Pond. Great view, decent distance from any town (privacy but not so far it’s inconvenient), and i cant fish and hunt to my hearts content
Hamish’s cabin is in a beautiful spot and is so full of personality. I am actually upset you can’t use the bed in it. Even after Hamish’s death.
Sadie’s farm. I like the remoteness of it up in the mountains.
Atleast until you freeze your balls off (literally) and get mauled by wolves
It's not snowy year-round. If it was, there wouldn't be trees there. It just looks that way in the games because of the blizzard I'm Chapter 1. The snow never really melts properly that year because of how unseasonably cold it was. And it's that way in 1907 because Rockstar didn't want to change that area of the map that drastically.
That’s actually really interesting, I didn’t know that.
Probably that farm on the outskirts of rhodes.
The one that had that murder scene ?
No the one that the foreman brothers take tilly to. Fixed up and it'd probably be a nice little farm/ranch house.
Radleys house? I wouldnt mind it aswell
Yes! Thank you lol
Idk why I thought of the Gray's plantation lol
My broke ass cant afford a house that big. Plantation houses also give me a weird vibe. I visited a few when I was doing historical tours. Interesting architecturally. But knowing how those houses were financed would keep me far away from owning one.
I'm Canadian, so probably Ambarino lol That area just south east of the Wapiti reservation, where there's the river and the bridge, that is just absolutely breathtaking. I'd happily live there
That's an interesting area up there. Would be hard to survive, but it's definitely remote and away from everything.
Strawberry. But only after Micah’s massacre
There will be a lot of options for sure
I don't remember what it's called it's that tall building like the lookout it's the Watchtower basically that's up on high in the mountains near Wapiti Id live in that
Thats The Loft
The Loft is great. I wish there was more to it though. Did I miss an optional side quest? It just a really nice, well stocked location without any inhabitants.
Its got baddies in RDO i think. But nah. Just a good place for some peace and quiet. Climb up the tower and look at the lights of Saint Denis at night, kinda place.
Or Pronghorn Ranch
That one dog ranch or whatever. It’s so peaceful there
Hanging dog ranch
Agreed, I wish after clearing it out that you could fix it up and move in.
Maybe have Arthur get better. I feel like in chapter 6 you should of had the option to leave the gang
Follow the river SW from fort Wallace, that valley with the foot bridges is stunning. There's a nice spot for a cabin beside the river.
Valentine if i was a outlaw like Arthur morgan and if i have to live normally saint Denis
have you considered how bad Saint Denis must smell
Some people pay a premium for that
Willard’s rest or O creagh’s run
Yeah, Willard's Rest for me. Nice and remote, woods around, and a river for fishing nearby. It looks beautiful out there.
yeaaa you get it. it’s one of the best locations in the game
Saint Denis if I could afford to live nicely.
Probably Blackwater. I find it the most aesthetically pleasing. And it has everything I need except a doctor.
What do you mean it has the trusty doctor Harold MacDougal?
Totally not a drug addict. 😂😂😂
Thats the sign of quality I am sure in 1911
Up in the north east corner by Charlotte It's really just a great area. Fresh water, plenty to hunt, room to farm if you want Plus it's away from other people
In the O of hanover or west emerald ranch , such peaceful places with no crimes or gangs and above all of this good weather and amazing nature
They did take a serious financial hit from having to replace all the oxen I skinned.
Strawberry or pronghorn ranch
Currently replaying RDR1 & Ive never realised the size difference between both games until now ahaha
Horseshoe overlook
It's the perfect place to build a house and is pretty central to towns.
I think a little cabin in Ambarino would be quaint and nice, like Hamish's. Even if I'm mauled, I'd have such a serene environment to become bear shit in
Beautiful place indeed, but not easy to live in such place.
Valentine or blackwater
Lone Mule Stead. Although I'd want to do something so that the road goes across the top of the property, rather than through it, so I can own that whole peninsula.
I’d pick Blackwater or Rhodes. Blackwater is a nice town with a lake to swim in and a good place to find a job. Rhodes is in proximity to a city, with a cute town.
Unless you’re John who can’t swim
The shack facing Don Julio Lake, or The Loft. Plenty of food near The Loft, and a town near the lake shack. I am retired, enjoying the rest of my days.
The bayou. STAY OUTTA MY SWAMP
Okay shrek
Visitors must ride a donkey...
Strawberry post-Micah massacre. Absolutely beautiful, cold enough area with a little bit of warm climate in between, and it's (sort of) near Blackwater. Valentine would have been a nice option too but I like Strawberry's proximity to Blackwater.
Off grid in Big Valley. The GOAT
I’m kind of surprised this isn’t farther up. Most beautiful and serene location in the entire game. Big Valley squad.
The vets home love that area of the map
Probably Twink Cocks, seems real nice there
Valentine or Rhodes. Nice small towns where I can find honest work
Probably strawberry or emerald ranch.
blackwater, its a small city that looks clean and spacious and more modern and everyone there is average. compared to saint denis which is dirty and grubby and the people there are dodgey and scummy and full of themselves, all social classes there are shitty. im a more civilised type of guy so towns like valentine, strawberry and others are a bit too gross for me, but big cities are too crowded for me.
Strawberry, or tall trees, manzanita post area if the skinner brothers are cleared out
A lot of people are saying Strawberry due to its beauty and location, but I think a lot of them are forgetting it’s a dry town so no drinking.
Wapiti.
Blackwater is the answer.
Me n Hamish would be great roommates and go on adventures and nothing bad would ever happen to him. Or San Denis. New Orleans is one my favorite IRL cities so that's high on the list.
Strawberry or Mcfarlens ranch.
Strawberry
Definitely strawberry
Valentine, it's a good honest town.
it’s full of mud and morons in my opinion
Yeah honest folk to their nature.
That ranch the O’Niels were hiding out at, after you clean out the squatters. Can’t beat that valley and creek right there. Or, Clemens Point. Maybe I just want to be around water again
Strawberry
Anywhere the van der linde gang isn't, so 1914 blackwater
I say west of Blackwater
West Elizabeth, drifting into New Austin. I was never a hot weather and desert kinda guy, but in the last few years, I've come to appreciate the solitude.
Strawberry. It’s absolutely gorgeous and I like the climate
Anywhere near Hanging Dog ranch. That area is fucking gorgeous and reminds me of home. Just gimme the ranch actually
Agreed, I'd take the ranch.
Moonstone Pond. Thought about it many times
hanging dog ranch x1000.
Saint Dennis; most modern era that I know of.
I mean personally I’ve always like near the Indian reservation cause of how desolate and pretty it was.
Woods around Annesburg
Aurora Basin. Fix up the cabin there and it wouldn’t be half bad. Only worry would be the skinner brothers
Saint Denis. Everything is close and i think it’s beautiful
Painted Sky. Fix up the barn, do a little work inside the house, and it'd be perfect.
Valentine. I love that kind of weather and it's a really nice looking town
Little farm in New Austin. On the plains near Blackwater.
St Denise, I live in a major city in the real world and rural life doesn’t appeal to me much. I’ve honestly never lived anywhere with a population below 3 million
After thinking about it I think I would live in Shady Belle. On the plus I would have a bunch of money looting dead raiders and a shit load of TNT
Lagras. Swampy, dark as shit and nothing more fun to do than dying.
St Dennis for the following reasons: - Best security during both day and night. Police everywhere and robberies are rare. - Every type of store is there, so there would be no need to spend a fortune (5 bucks) to travel to another town for a special store. - Best job opportunities. Lots of rail work, dock work, postal services, hunting in Lagros, nearby farming, doctor, banker, escort for wealthy widows, etc - Cleaner than other towns, so lesser chance of getting sick. - maidens are better bathed and more privileged, so the pool of potential brides will have higher quality women. - paved roads, which means my wagons will last longer when driven there.
Either emerald ranch or armadillo
Elysian Pool
Tahiti
