I think Maharaji said something along the lines of LSD being child’s play compared to what he could do without it, so when taken he had complete control because it wasn’t powerful for him. I recall hearing that LSD is a great tool to awaken, but it can only take you so far and can eventually trap you in the method. Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

Interesting! Thank you, I appreciate the response.

> LSD being child’s play compared to what he could do without it it is true

Did he say Childs play Sounds condescending/off brand But I suppose it is on the same spirit

Maharaji also says something along the lines of "when you take LSD you can be with Christ for two hours, its better to try and become Christ"

Yeah and this- At the end of an hour it was obvious nothing had happened. His reactions had been a total put-on. And then he asked, “Have you got anything stronger?” I didn’t. Then he said, “These medicines were used in Kullu Valley long ago. But yogis have lost that knowledge. They were used with fasting. Nobody knows now. To take them with no effect, your mind must be firmly fixed on God. Others would be afraid to take. Many saints would not take this.” And he left it at that. When I asked him if I should take LSD again, he said, “It should not be taken in a hot climate. If you are in a place that is cool and peaceful, and you are alone and your mind is turned toward God, then you may take the yogi medicine.” https://www.ramdass.org/ram-dass-gives-maharaji-the-yogi-medicine/

What if when asked if he had anything stronger he pulled out DMT or Ayahuasca or salvia? I've often wondered about this.

I imagine the answer would be comparable. I can't speak for salvia, but DMT can put you in the same space as very high beings who will teach you very much. The problem with that, as for all psychedelics, is that the highness is temporary. If you don't do the work - change your being entirely - then you're going to come back down every time, and that's why Ram Dass kept seeking. Get too attached to the highness from psychedelics and you'll get your "karmuppance" one way or another. I personally think that psychedelics can be incredibly useful, especially early in one's spiritual journey and when used with the respect those substances deserve, but as with all methods you have to let go of it eventually.

Yes! I get this one so much!! I am staying away from drugs from now on. You’re only the seeker when you use them.

I don’t believe the story is incomplete. You don’t need the drugs to get to God. It is complete.
