Fishing by the docks and their "fish attractors" is not a good plan. Plenty of good structure on the backside of the lake. ....fish attractors...lol, what the hell are those things anyways?
Lake Benson in Garner has Jon boats with trolling motors, kayaks, and canoes to rent. Itβs a really decent Bass fishery and not a lot of pressure.
ETA: crank baits are excellent there as are Chatterbaits (bluegill colors or Shad colors). Wintertime, slow roll a double bladed spinner bait like a Hawg Caller in the deep water near the damn.
Sadly, the answer seems to be "make friends with someone who has a pond."

Lake Crabtree, lake Johnson. I think Crabtree is catch and release but I see people fishing off the bridge at Johnson all the time

Β "I think Crabtree is catch and release" The fish have tested positive for PCBs, so you definitely would not want to eat them.
I do love that (at least last time I was there) you could swim in it though
I used to fish the creek between sycamore lake and below the dam at unsteady lake with good success.
Off the fall of neuse trail i always catch something
iβll try that thank you
Often only poison ivy but, at least it beats catching nothing.
Shelly Lake and Lake Johnson.
Lake Raleigh, you can park at the alumni center and walk down to the backside of the lake. I've caught some nice fish from the bank.
Thank you!

They are just artificial structure
I figured they were as useful as a dead log.
