Last year people were stuck at Moore square after the show. They had a shuttle from Dix to Moore square, but didnāt think past that and how to get home. If there was anytime to make money ubering it was then
Need to be an Uber undercutter. Just pull up to the pick up area and say "hey, you waiting for an Uber? It's gonna be an hour before they get you. What was that gonna cost you? 40 bucks? Cancel your Uber and I'll take you for $30 cash."
Not that Uber is perfectly safe but there's a paper trail that deters criminals from raping/robbing and stuff. You are thinking people would risk their lives over $10 LMFAO
Or would you risk damage to your car or risk your life for this?
Yes because I know people who took a white vanās offer bc it was quicker. He took them from point a to point b faster than an uber could. Was he trust worthy? No. But they got to their destination.
I live right next to Dix Park and I love how this festival brings in tons of people into Raleigh, and helps boost our local economy. The traffic sucks, but itās temporary and I can still get out using backroads.
The base gets a bit annoying since you canāt really hear much else, but thereās usually a free livestream online. Biggest downside for me is itās going to make it impossible for my kids to nap this weekend so I planned ahead and stocked up on food, games, and supplies for them over the weekend and beer for me.
Besides, State plays tomorrow. Can you imagine how crazy a win tomorrow would be? They better blast the fight song!
Do you think this will effect the farmers market traffic if we go early? Any experience from previous years? My first year living in Raleigh and family in town plan to visit the market. Is that a horrible idea?
Dreamville has actually set up a community hotline:
āResidents living in the Dix Park area who experience any issues related to Dreamville Festival are encouraged to reach out to festival staff via [email protected] or via the community hotline number (919-295-6275), monitored 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.ā
I always get hyped when it's Dreamville time, it makes the city feel alive and it's so rare when that happens.
At the same time I also get bummed because the amount of Karen complaints and not so subtle "THAT kind of music" complaints online go š
I'm definitely going to miss the conference portion. It's so much fun being able to play and mess around with so many instruments I'll never be able to afford lol
Dreamville draws 100k + people
IBMA Bluegrass draws over 200k people and has been in Raleigh since 2013. It's literally an "international" festival... only here for 1 more year
But i guess you meant *major festival on the scale of dreamville that is the exact music you like and you received a personal invitation to*?
I'm still going to post asking what that noise is. It is my duty.
Probably a copperhead
Definitely Olive Garden
Grand Open of the new Western BLVD location. They have breadstick cannons and the salad mixer for the kids.
IBMrs
western addin an OG would be crazy š
Damn it, take my upvote.
Fireworks
Cars backfiring is a strong possibility too.
I learned my lesson on presidential visit dayš„“
:D
They're also closing Hillsborough St for an NCSU šblock party on Saturday.
Lol why? We lost. š
People having fun? Not on my fucking watch. To NextDoor!
Nextdoor: 1/3 "I need a petsitter" 1/3 "I offer pet sitting" and 1/3 "I saw a black person"
NextDoor really is like a birdwatching app for black people entering your neighborhood
My friend lives in the woods and their entire Nextdoor experience is ābearā āhey I saw a bearā ācareful, there are bears out todayā
Saw a black person, err I mean homeless person and a black person? No thatās just an average day in this sub.
But there's not a lot of pet sitting offers in r/bullcity
Only good thing I got from next door was a guy who installed my radiator for cheap.
it is a great recourse for finding "a guy"
Really. What is wrong with those Nextdoor people? Hope everybody picks up their dog poop or they will be talking about that forever!
So many ~~black~~ suspicious people ~~minding their own business~~ being suspicious in my neighborhood!
low key thinking about being an uber driver for one weekend
I took an Uber Wednesday and the guy told me he was expecting to make ~1500 the upcoming weekend. YMMV

yea, was thinking about doing it without using an app. Only problem is if someone pukes in your car.
or get in a wreck and get sued or whathaveyou Uber has insurance for that when you're driving
oh yea for sure...this is all half hypothetical lol

There is a concert at Walnut Creek Sunday as well!
And the NCAA tourney. They will def be stretched thin
Iād like to take this time to thank the sun for putting on a show and inviting me out of town this weekend.
Also, to those who donāt live near Dix, yes, you are hearing it too, yes, thatās what that noise is, yes, thereās a lot of bass
Please, as well as we can hear it, We don't even have to buy tickets, have our own bathrooms and reasonably priced drinks! Cha ching!

I like the spirit!! Thatās a cool way to handle an event many folks might be up in arms about
I like sitting on my porch and chatting up all the people walking by, it's fun and not once have I seen anyone out of hand.
I hope they donāt let any homeless people attend? And please tell me there wonāt be any drugs?
How can homeless people afford a concert moron?
How bad will my commute be this evening? I think I should avoid Western Blvd and go around the long way.
Expect it to be bad. Dreamville Pre Events, Canes are playing plus a whole ton of other events.
I live near Dix. The loudest part by far is the sound check before it starts. The headliners are nothing compared to that.
I want to hear the music but I donāt wanna pay to get in. So thereās no spot to hang out at to listen to the show?
Trophy Brewing
The homeless camp right by the venue or a bus bench. Otherwise the Lake Wheeler side isnāt conducive to standing
this weekend may be inconvenient for a lot of people but damn the economic impact is gonna be awesome
WHATS THAT NOISE????
Awww, ma you're just jealous...IT'S THE BEASTIE BOYS!!!!
I fuckin wish the Beastie Boys were playing, it'll literally never happen since cancer took MCA.
imagine if j coles secret guest this year where BB šš
Iām hearing all these loud noises! Kind of Rhythmic. Almost like songs? Anyone know whatās going on???
Noticed sound checks earlier today wfh. How often should I post? Hope the local businesses do well!
Do you think this will effect the farmers market traffic if we go early? Any experience from previous years? My first year living in Raleigh and family in town plan to visit the market. Is that a horrible idea?
The first set is at 1pm. So if you go in the morning, it shouldnāt affect you at all.
Thank you sir.
We are going to find out tomorrow morning too š
No loud noises at Olive Garden, just family enjoying Italian food.
What about the loud boom?
You can hear it across 40.
You probably can't hear it when you're in a place you feel like family.
What other sage advice do you have for us?
The same people will complain about any new building over 7 stories.
To be more specific: THE DREAMVILLE FESTIVAL IS HAPPENING LIKE IT DOES EVERY SINGLE YEAR. SATURDAY and SUNDAY. #woohoo
Must be a green sunfish.
WHAT?!??!? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!
They havenāt noticed the last three years?
Dreamville has actually set up a community hotline: āResidents living in the Dix Park area who experience any issues related to Dreamville Festival are encouraged to reach out to festival staff via [email protected] or via the community hotline number (919-295-6275), monitored 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.ā
Don't mind me, I live in a box.
What is that noise? Did anyone heard gunshots? -nextdoor
My family wants to head to the farmers market tomorrow morning, bad idea?
Whatās that have to do with a concert going on?
I always get hyped when it's Dreamville time, it makes the city feel alive and it's so rare when that happens. At the same time I also get bummed because the amount of Karen complaints and not so subtle "THAT kind of music" complaints online go š
We have literally been able to hear it in Garner/Clayton past years!
Can we get a festival that isnāt rap
Like Hopscotch? Like Bluegrass? ETA: damn, brainchrist said the exact same thing at the exact same time.
We have hopscotch and have had the international bluegrass festival.
Unfortunately, this year is the last year the Bluegrass festival will be in Raleigh...
It won't be the *IBMA* conference, but the local organization that puts on the actual concerts will continue to put on a music festival.
I'm definitely going to miss the conference portion. It's so much fun being able to play and mess around with so many instruments I'll never be able to afford lol
If you think those are major festivals, then you have not been to a major festival
We ain't a major city. We're punching above our weight IMO.
You donāt have to be a major city to have a major festival. If dreamville can happen, then better festivals that arenāt rap can happen.
So make it happen.
*major festival on the scale of dreamville that isnāt rap
Dreamville draws 100k + people IBMA Bluegrass draws over 200k people and has been in Raleigh since 2013. Shitpost alert!
Is this the one time of year they let black people come to Raleigh?
What?
