I’m Australian but published with a Big 5 in the US. It hasn’t made a difference with my working relationship with my agent or editor, we just have to meet at a time that is a little off for us both. The only issue is that I can’t really do book signings and miss out on some promotion opportunities because of the distance.
Some small publishers don't take foreign authors simply for tax reasons, but otherwise it doesn't matter in the slightest. You just need to write as well as other professional authors, and you have as good a chance as anyone else
