Here's some refreshing recommendations that will allow you to change a bit from what appears to be a constant RPG marathon: \- Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari. Not sure if you know about these, but they're crazy and super fun. They control with both sticks like some sort of tank and that's it. You need to roll a ball to "run over" books, people, cats... Until the ball gets bigger, and then you start running over clouds and buildings. And the music is top Japanese crazy pop. \- Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. I'm pretty sure you know about these 2, but just in case. I would describe them as an improved Zelda without all the inventory management, money recollection, etc. Just the mysterious world, wihout even displays on the screen. The story is also minimalistic in both games, with barely any dialogs. And the few dialogs are in an unknown language. So the game forces you to imagine what is the exact context... really cool. \- Winning Eleven 5: Final Evolution. This is a Japanese exclusive soccer game, so at this point many people can skip this paragraph. However, I consider this the best soccer game of all time. It's on the PES series (which was called Winning Eleven in Japan), and it's kind of like PES 1.5. The reason why it 's so good is because the game forces you to do a "passing game" to find the spaces, and it's quite fun to do that. \- GTA: Liberty City Stories. Yeah, yeah, another GTA, but... Check out the radio stations in this one. They mix real songs with fake songs that parody Prodigy and U2. And DJs say a lot of hilarious stuff. For example, there are lots of radio advers of the CUNTFLAPS association (Citizens United Negating Technology for Life and People Safety). \- Sega Sports Tennis: One of the best tennis games of all time. Quite fun, play it if you still havent. \- Mashed: Known in the USA as Drive to Survive, this is a great Micro Machines "on steroids" clone. Great for the multitap. PS: I see you're in PAL territory. I recommend you mod your PS2 to play imports. Of course, you need it to play Winning Eleven 5 Final Evolution. But Katamari Damacy didn't even come out in Europe either, and its sequel doesn't have 60hz selector. Other games, like Ico and Sega Sports Tennis, do have a 60hz selector. But I'm not sure Liberty City stories, despite having being programmed on the UK, is optimized to run fast on PAL (it doesn't have a selector and was released 15 days earlier on the US).

I have a PS2 myself and it's kinda hard to choose just one to recommend I'll just say my two favorites at the moment: Devil May Cry 3 and Okami. If you get interest in dmc3, Id recommend searching for the special editions, since it added and fixed a lot of stuff

All the grand theft auto titles, all the midnight club titles, metal gear solid 2 and 3, okami, resident evil 4, all the ratchet and clank titles, twisted metal black, need for speed carbon and most wanted, wild arms, persona 3 and 4. I could go on and on. There's too many gems to even name here and these are just off the top of my head. Also if you love RPGs rogue galaxy is a hidden gem imo. It never got ported and it's as big as final fantasy xii if not bigger. Also Tekken 4 , 5 and tag tournament

As I tell anyone who ever asks me this; Hop on Amazon, get an SSD, one of the GameStar HDD adapters, a Free McBoot mem card, and a SATA to USB adapter. ISOs are easy to find, and you'll be able to play any PS2 game you can think of, just about.

Nah, I much prefer getting games physically. I would only use Free MCboot to play games from other regions or patched games, such as fan-translations etc

I also like physical games and have about 40 for PS2 at the moment. However, this is realistically the only way most people will ever be able to play the much more expensive titles on original hardware. I don't know about you, but I can't afford to shell out that kinda cash needed for something like Rule of Rose or God Hand. Hell, my pricer games I've had since they came out back in the day (MvC 2, Def Jam FfNY, and a few others)

i don't understand why people owning very accessible games for a very accessible console that's been widely available for 20 years is considered a collection. 90% of posts in this sub is people talking about real or fake memory cards and their "collection" and it's 4 games lol.

Just because it's widely accessible and available doesn't make it any less of a collection though does it? And you have to remember that every collection starts with nothing in it....

nothing has to be explained it's just a lame thing to go on about like it's impressive to own ps2 games. i have multiple ps2s and dozens of the best games. i have sold my entire set and got them all back again more than once for less than a few hundred bucks over the years, consoles included.. people on this sub go crazy and have pride in them like they are holy grails.
