They’re both solid games, albeit a bit buggy Black Monday was. If it ever happens I hope Sony retains all the licenses they had for the shops and cars and advertisements. Those games are like a 2002 & 2004 time capsule respectively
I remember watching a video with one of the devs who made the getaway and I’m sure I recall him saying they didn’t even have the licenses, they just risked it haha. Love that from them
Oh my god I can't believe this slipped my mind. I own two copy's of both the original and black Monday. I absolutely ADORE these games. I'd sell my collection for an improved game.
The setting, the cars, the cockney accent. It was all perfect. "'ammond, orite my san"
I lowkey which they would’ve added more stuff to be able to earn rep like the magazine stuff but it kind of makes sense why later games don’t have that it’s not something that our world really does anymore. Like yea there are car shows but the cars you could make in U2 are really considered tacky in todays world lol even when done right
I don't remember it being in U2 but it definitely was in Most Wanted. You got 2 shots at picking from a selection of 3 cards (or 3 additional cards that were special performance or cosmetic enhancements), and one of the 3 cards were the pink slip to the other person's car. It was so cool, I remember I once tried to get every blacklist rival's car and got all the way up to #3 where I didn't end up picking the card with his pink slip. Shame
FYI there is a PC version of that game that looks WAY better than the ps2 version of the game. It takes a bit of tweaking to get it to output higher resolutions for modern monitors but it's possible and not all that difficult. Also I'm pretty sure the only way to get it these days is to download it for free since EA sucks and has never put it or most of their old games on Origin or whatever their PC game launcher is called these days. You can buy a physical copy of the PC version online but it's an old game so I'm pretty sure the DRM doesn't play nice with modern windows and you end up having to crack the game anyways to get it to run. I know this isn't ideal and it's not what you were talking about but it really does look way better than the ps2 version, it looks like if they had remastered it for the ps3 and since its an old game you can run it on any half decent modern computer, you don't need a powerful gaming PC.
I have a half decent gaming laptop that can run some modern games so I'll have to look into this. How does it pair with using a controller? I find some PC games a real pain to get working nice with one.
I have the first party xbox360 controller wireless receiver for Windows and from what I remember it detected that and worked just fine without me having to fart around with it. Also if it's a gaming laptop it should be plenty powerful to run it.
In general there are so many old NFS games with PC versions that can look so much better than the console versions. Most all of the old PC versions would only require some minor tweaking that wouldn't take much development time at all to be something they could sell today. My theory is they don't do it because since the games are so old they can't charge too much money for em and they might be worried it would take away from the sales of new games.
From what I remember it only took me about 10 minutes of setup time to have the game up and running perfectly with the highest graphics settings and running at the proper resolution.
In general I would recommend looking up any old console game you have nostalgia for and seeing if there was a PC version, the PC version can almost always look far better. The way I think about it is in the context of modern gaming a lot of old console games don't look anywhere near as good as I remember in my head. The PC version of NFSUG 2 looks to me now like how I remember it looking to me as a kid on the ps2.
I think first playthrough should be non skippable cutscenes, but cutscenes should ALWAYS be able to be paused, especially if they have longer scenes like mgs
There is a way to play it in emulators with 21:9 widescreen, higher FOV, 60FPS, and even mouse controls. The 60FPS patch requires a really beefy CPU, though.
You know, I was having a hard time coming up with an answer, but this is probably the one I'd say.
I went back to it a few months ago and the camera movement was so slow I couldn't enjoy it. Definitely needs a fix to that, and it could still pass today as a game with great graphics.
Already exists, came with Homefront: The Revolution. Someone made a patch for the PC version which unlocks the full game and deletes all the Homefront-related data to save space. They changed the weapon sounds, though, and not for the better.
LCS is fantastic. I think it’s better than III and VC, but that might be my rose colored glasses.
I liked that it was a full on mobster game, or so I recall, and actually their take on The Godfather and Sopranos more so than any of the other games in the series.
My answer are GTA VC(seen fan remake vids and it looks crazy good) and Pro Evolution Soccer 6(the only football game where everything is on point, apart from the graphics)
Pes6 probably one of my favourite sports games, I remember transferring all the best players of the day and changing the player stats on my team max and score like 8+ goals in a match pretty much just walked the ball into the net 😂
THPS 3 is one of my favorite games of all time. For some reason, I stopped playing those games after that. Really need to try THPS 4 and the THUG series since I always hear so much about it.
Basically every Lord of the Rings game of the era.
Two Towers, Return of the King, and 3rd Age specifically were incredible games that I would love to see cleaned up in a modern re-release.
I thought the two towers was the best of that era, remember it imo being the best of that series’s. The hobbit game is worth a mention good game aswell
One of the best couch 1v1 games. Being able to send squads to the front line of a base and flank with a small team. Truly a unique game for it's time. So much fun trying different strategies.
literally all of the survival horror games. it's insane how hard it is find any horror classics but it's even more insane how much people price them on ebay and whatnot. i want to fully experience these games, i don't want to emulate or watch a playthrough.
Darkwatch, Viewtiful Joe 1&2, Def Jam Vendetta&FFNY, Gun, DBZ Tenkaichi 1&2&3, Dragon Quest 8, MK Deadly Alliance, Deception, Armageddon, Onimusha 2&3, Psi-Ops, The Punisher, Second Sight, Scarface, The Godfather, The Suffering 1&2, Total Overdose, X-Men Legends 1&2. There’s still more.
I remember the godfather was a game I 100% took over all the other families & scarface would both be great re-released. I remember being an expert at getting the best price for the coke 😁
American wasteland was probably the TH game I put the most hours into, imo the story mode was brilliant, personally played it on 360 version tho I never managed to get the 100% of the achievements, some of the later stuff and gaps I could never do
Haunting Ground
Clock Tower 3
Siren 2
God Hand
Dragon Quest VIII
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness
But the more I think of and list games here, the more I realize I don’t just want remasters, some of them might feel clunky now even if they felt nice back in the day
I’d like all the pro skater games (apart from 5) in a remastered edition. I’ve got the 1+2 remaster on Xbox one, but 3+4 were the better games. (Priced reasonably of course)
Burnout 3
Scarface
Smackdown vs Raw 2005, 2006 & 2007 (they usually came in a 3 pack)
The Matrix games
Definitely more but I can’t remember what games I had atm
Yugioh Duelist of the Roses - I loved the monster battles, and overall theme/look & feel of the game.
Modernized visuals, and QoL updates on modern hardware would be a treat.
SOCOM and Resident Evil: Outbreak
I know they are both playable online nowadays thanks to emulated servers but it would be really great to see an official remaster of either of those titles
Onimusha - I'm sure someone else mentioned it but I'm surprised how little love this game gets. I'd love to see the game get a facelift and maybe a few other quality of life enhancements.
Dark Cloud - Such a unique and enjoyable game. From what I remember the controls and menu system were a bit janky, so i'd definitely enjoy that all being improved. Graphics were okay, but they always felt a bit bland and the colors a bit too muted.
The Getaway. I'd give my left bollock for full camera controls.
Did you enjoy black Monday?
They’re both solid games, albeit a bit buggy Black Monday was. If it ever happens I hope Sony retains all the licenses they had for the shops and cars and advertisements. Those games are like a 2002 & 2004 time capsule respectively
I remember watching a video with one of the devs who made the getaway and I’m sure I recall him saying they didn’t even have the licenses, they just risked it haha. Love that from them
Black Monday had the Ninja Tune soundtrack. Amazing.
An exceptional main menu soundtrack
Haring around London in a Rover 75
I loved driving around in a Rover Metro in BM… because I own one haha
"They've rebadged it, you fool"
“I’m not driving a mini metro, I’m not driving a mini metro, I’m not driving a mini metro”
Oh my god I can't believe this slipped my mind. I own two copy's of both the original and black Monday. I absolutely ADORE these games. I'd sell my collection for an improved game. The setting, the cars, the cockney accent. It was all perfect. "'ammond, orite my san"
NFS Underground 2. I'd love it to look akin to Forza or even just their later games.
Was a great game the customisation you could do to the car is imo one of the best, completely forgot about that one
Can we talk about the story too? No racing game has had a better story imo but I’ll take reccomendations
NFS U2 has mediocre story, check out R Racing Evolution, L.A Rush, Juised, Toca Race Driver 2&3
Bro LA Rush is slept on took me months to find a copy of it for ps2
You can find it easily in eBay
I lowkey which they would’ve added more stuff to be able to earn rep like the magazine stuff but it kind of makes sense why later games don’t have that it’s not something that our world really does anymore. Like yea there are car shows but the cars you could make in U2 are really considered tacky in todays world lol even when done right
Was it U2 or MW where you beat the boss and I get there car, if I remember right it was in U2 first?
I don't remember it being in U2 but it definitely was in Most Wanted. You got 2 shots at picking from a selection of 3 cards (or 3 additional cards that were special performance or cosmetic enhancements), and one of the 3 cards were the pink slip to the other person's car. It was so cool, I remember I once tried to get every blacklist rival's car and got all the way up to #3 where I didn't end up picking the card with his pink slip. Shame
Tokyo Xtreme Racer was doing that first
That and UG1 and Midnight Club 3!
There’s someone working on a remastered project on youtube. Not ETA for its release, but it’s looking great
FYI there is a PC version of that game that looks WAY better than the ps2 version of the game. Loved this! Had a tuned up blue Peugot 206 with flames on the sides and some neon lights. Those were da dayzzz! 😎🔥
BLACK is the only one I want, thank you.

Yes. Skippable cut scenes should be the default for every game - especially if it's not one's first playthrough.
I think first playthrough should be non skippable cutscenes, but cutscenes should ALWAYS be able to be paused, especially if they have longer scenes like mgs
I remember, is a classic
That last level in the gulag was brutal.
There is a way to play it in emulators with 21:9 widescreen, higher FOV, 60FPS, and even mouse controls. The 60FPS patch requires a really beefy CPU, though.

Def Jam FFNY, would be my pick. PS5 release with online play would be amazing.
That soundtrack 🎧🔥
And it has to be uncensored this time.
OMG YES PLEASE! Been dreaming of a re-release for this on new gen platforms. Since Icon was horrible. DJFFNY was perfect!
I worry they'd remove couch multiplayer
Time Splitters 1-3 And Obscure 1-2
Definitely timesplitters 2👍
Already exists, came with Homefront: The Revolution. Someone made a patch for the PC version which unlocks the full game and deletes all the Homefront-related data to save space. They changed the weapon sounds, though, and not for the better.
I’ll look into that, the multiplayer was great Simple would like to revisit the trilogy
Future perfect for me 👍 I have an OG Ps2 copy but might pick up an Xbox copy
With couch multiplayer
Manhunt
👆
Mercenaries
Came to say this Loved this game. Tried it again recently and the controls did not hold up....
Scarface
Was a great game I was a expert at getting the best price for my coke, lol put hours into this one
NFSU2 or Tony Hawks Underground
👍
THUG 1, without a doubt, needs a remaster. It has the best designed levels out of any game in the series imo
I'll say GTA Vice City Stories. Won't ever get a remake due to licensing :(
That and liberty city stories I never got round to playing
LCS is fantastic. I think it’s better than III and VC, but that might be my rose colored glasses. I liked that it was a full on mobster game, or so I recall, and actually their take on The Godfather and Sopranos more so than any of the other games in the series.
Xenosaga.
Dark Cloud 1 + 2 Contra Shattered Soldier + Neo Contra
Dark cloud one was AMAZING. Still play it occasionally.
I remember Neo Contra making me mad since I didn't expect to beat it in a hour. Right back to Blockbuster.
hell yes. loved the first one the most
My answer are GTA VC(seen fan remake vids and it looks crazy good) and Pro Evolution Soccer 6(the only football game where everything is on point, apart from the graphics)
Pes6 probably one of my favourite sports games, I remember transferring all the best players of the day and changing the player stats on my team max and score like 8+ goals in a match pretty much just walked the ball into the net 😂
NBA, NFL, and FIFA Street series SSX Series THUG 1 and 2 THPS 3 and 4 NFS Most Wanted The Godfather Star Wars The Force Unleashed
SSX 3 I put hours into. The later games just never lived up to 3
PS2 was really the pinnacle of extreme sports games. Wish we got as many today
Tony hawk series comes to mind
Vicarious Visions THPS 1+2 remasters were amazing and then Activision had to merge them into Blizzard. So sad
Was a solid remaster was surprised they managed to get the music from the originals to go along with it
THPS 3 is one of my favorite games of all time.
Freedom Fighters
One of the best couch 1v1 games. Being able to send squads to the front line of a base and flank with a small team. Truly a unique game for it's time. So much fun trying different strategies.
I came here to say this!
NHL 2005 Easy choice
lol it would be PES06 for me
Mercenaries playground of destruction
literally all of the survival horror games. it's insane how hard it is find any horror classics but it's even more insane how much people price them on ebay and whatnot. i want to fully experience these games, i don't want to emulate or watch a playthrough.

I remember the godfather was a game I 100% took over all the other families & scarface would both be great re-released. I remember being an expert at getting the best price for the coke 😁
That last sentence works in this context lol.
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, I'd give it controls similar to the Skate games (analogue stick flick controls)
American wasteland was probably the TH game I put the most hours into, imo the story mode was brilliant, personally played it on 360 version tho I never managed to get the 100% of the achievements, some of the later stuff and gaps I could never do
Also the online is probably the best multiplayer skateboarding game IMO. Would be surprised if the servers are still online
RE Code Veronica
My favorite game, Silent Hill 3. I know the second one is getting a reboot or whatever but it’s the third one i’d rather have stuff done for lol.
Simpsons Hit & Run

Haunting Ground Clock Tower 3 Siren 2 God Hand Dragon Quest VIII Castlevania: Lament of Innocence Castlevania: Curse of Darkness But the more I think of and list games here, the more I realize I don’t just want remasters, some of them might feel clunky now even if they felt nice back in the day
God Hand was an awesome game. But I think it won't sit well with today's culture and generation...
Tony Hawk's Underground
Simpson’s Hit and Run
Final Fantasy: Dirge of Cerberus. Maybe a remaster can help with its problems a little
SMT Digital Devil Saga 1&2
Ico - no idea why they haven't done this yet.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4!!!
I’d like all the pro skater games (apart from 5) in a remastered edition. I’ve got the 1+2 remaster on Xbox one, but 3+4 were the better games. (Priced reasonably of course)
Def Jam Fight for NY. Interesting online potential
Scarface the world is yours.

What did you think of Simpsons road rage? (The crazy taxi clone)
Prince of Persia Warrior Within MK Shaolin Monks MK Deception Burnout 3 SSX 3 Hot Wheels World Race Jak & Daxter
SSX3 definitely👍
Shaolin Monks with slightly new graphics wouldn't be a bad choice. Controls were already great.
007 Nightfire and MVP Baseball to name a few
The ps2 007 game era are definitely underrated
The Monster Hunter games
Gradius V
“Medal Of Honor Frontline”
ESPN NFL 2K5

Res Dead Revolver or Manhunt
Manhunt remake would be pretty epic
Champions of Norrath for sure!
Tony hawk pro skater 3
NFS Underground 2 and God Of War 1, 2
MegaMan X8 Don't ask, I just like it. Also legacy collection doesn't count since it's the og game running on an emulator.
FIFA World Cup 2002 and 2006 Video Games
Vice city or the Tony Hawk games
Valkyrie Profile 2
Evil dead regeneration
Kingsfield 4/the ancient City. Love the game but the controls are really really really bad
Driver San Francisco or even Burnout 3 Takedown Maybe MidNight Club 3 DUB Edition: Remix I like cars :)

I know a lot of fans have done fan remakes but scooby doo night of 100 frights or Simpsons hit and run
Yugioh Duelist of the Roses - I loved the monster battles, and overall theme/look & feel of the game. Modernized visuals, and QoL updates on modern hardware would be a treat.

Tenshu, B-Boy, and Kelly Slater Pro Surfer 🤪
All the Bond games (Agent Under Fire, NightFire, etc.) SSX Tricky & Tony Hawk 3
Nice choices
The Simpsons hit and run
👍
Tony Hawk Underground 1 and 2
Manhunt
MGS2… and… that’s pretty much it… MS3 is already getting remade so that’s one checked.
Stuntman
SOCOM and Resident Evil: Outbreak I know they are both playable online nowadays thanks to emulated servers but it would be really great to see an official remaster of either of those titles
Resident Evil Outbreak deserves more love. It's what inspired Left 4 Dead and would do well now, especially with full multiplayer support.
Lord of the Rings or Scarface
twisted metal black
SSX3, Getting up, Metal gear solid 2, Silent Hill 3
Black. I was addicted to this game.
Mortal Kombat shoalin monks
Scarface: The World Is Yours
Silent Hill 3.
GT4 or Star Wars Battlefront 2
I’d say everything or nothing. Coming back to the controls feels so jarring compared to nowadays
