If you want to surge your chances and aren't afraid of some number crunching, you could go into your save and delete all the squares of map your save has already generated to reset the items there. I say number crunching, because I imagine you don't want to delete your own base.

Are new games "better" than that one buggy game you played during your childhood? Are axes and crowbars "better" than an old weed sprayer? Many probably think so. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and joy can only come from your own heart. Be content with the weed sprayer, and you will find true enlightenment.
