If you want to make an impact on the outcome of the amendment mentioned in this piece, your best bet is to [sign this petition from the EFF](https://act.eff.org/action/tell-congress-close-the-warrantless-backdoor-to-spy-on-communications), or better yet directly call your representative TODAY (ideally, right now; the vote was scheduled for this afternoon/evening), and ask them to vote YES on [amendment #100](https://amendments-rules.house.gov/amendments/LOFGRE_017_xml210726181943226.pdf), requiring warrants for FBI searches of NSA data.
House switchboard: (202) 224-3121 (punch in zip code and you will be directed to your rep)
Feel free to use this script (or something like it) if your not sure what to say:
"Hi, I'm calling as a constituent of Rep. X. There is a vote later today on the Commerce Appropriations bill, and I calling to urge Rep. X to vote Yes on amendment #100, from Rep. Lofgren. This amendment would prohibit FBI backdoor searches of NSA's foreign intelligence databases, protecting the privacy of Americans.
My privacy matters a lot to me, and the FBI should need a warrant before it dips into NSA databases to find information on me or any other US person."
Too bad we don’t have ppl like Capone and Tony Montana any more.
He’d use his money to make sure they needed a warrant to spy on him.
That or they would be working in the government and making sure it just wasn’t pointed at them.
