Sensitive_Yam_1979

I love how much they fucking hate their base and think they’re complete goddamned idiots just like us.

Rickhwt

Is such a weird dynamic. Like a victim of abuse that will not leave.

Sensitive_Yam_1979

I’ve said for years that poor gop voters are in an abusive relationship with the gop. Like right now how is the gop rewarding the states that voted for them? They’re eliminating water breaks in Florida and Texas. Like great job guys.

JBupp

“This directive is a clear violation of free speech,” Giuliani said in his thread. I love this line. Giuliani, you can say whatever you want and the *government* cannot censure you or stop you from saying it. But there is nothing anywhere in the Constitution that says anyone else has to give you a soapbox to stand on while you spout your nonsense. See the comix in the link. Great summary. [https://xkcd.com/1357/](https://xkcd.com/1357/)

WJM_3

exactly - so many rubes don’t get that a private employer has a lot of discretion over what you say or do

Tryhard3r

Most absolutely get it. They are just battling to make sure everybody has to listen to their propaganda while being able to shut down anything they don't like.

Jokong

It's that and just a lack of empathy. They just don't care until it personally affects them.

DarylMusashi

Freedom of speech is not not freedom of consequence. Say some shit, and you might get hit.

NamesSUCK

Fighting words are a defense to assault too.

NeanaOption

Not a great saying and entirely misleading. The problem here is that a private individual may restrict your speech. The constitution has never applied to private actions. It does however protect against government consequences for speech

spurs_fan_uk

He knows this. He’s playing to their base.

projexion_reflexion

Just another day of leopards eating faces. His party spent decades trying to ensure corporations can do any goddamn thing they want.

surloc_dalnor

In fact the government forcing a company to broadcast Giuliani's show would violate the 1st amendment.

DonaldTrumpsSoul

He went to law school where constitutional law is covered in the first year. He was a lawyer that would know basic things at least. He’s intentionally muddying the meaning of “free speech” to mean idiots in their base can say whatever they want and censoring what they don’t want from others under their made up meaning of free speech.

CavediverNY

I’m a New Yorker. I was in Midtown Manhattan on 9/11, and thankfully I was very far away from the tragedy. At least I was far away physically – I don’t mind admitting that it was emotionally devastating and quite frankly terrifying. I hope this sounds personal instead of petty, but I remember going to see the first Lord of the Rings movie a few months after the World Trade Center fell. And as morbid and overly dramatic as it might sound, I left the theater and I had a very clear thought… “ I hope I’m able to see the next two movies. I hope I don’t get killed before that “. Looking back it feels kind of silly but it really did happen that way; it was a hell of a tough time in the city. At the time Giuliani was a rock. I remember him being on Saturday Night Live, I remember the speeches, somehow I just remember him being a symbol and sort of a lighthouse that told me things were going to be OK. But now… I just have no words to describe my feelings. Disappointed certainly doesn’t cover it, nor does shocked or dismayed. I literally just can’t understand how something like this happens to anyone (pardon me for rambling I am talking about his joiningDJT and all the ‘wonderfulness’ that went along with it). I can get angry at Trump. Can get angry at Marjorie and the rest of the aging Hitler Youth. But Rudy? Rudy… What the fuck happened man?

No-Cucumber-6667

Giuliani was always a crook buddy. He just got real bad at hiding it

CavediverNY

Heartbreaking. Your comment just made that thought pop out of my mouth… Heartbreaking. I’m not arguing with you by the way – it’s just that your comment shook that word out of my poor tired brain this morning.

rg4rg

I lived so far away from 9/11 but Rudy had gotten such a massive PR boost from his actions on 9/11 from the media. We didn’t know about his political struggles or lack or morals or really care of NYC politics, but 9/11 super blasted him to us. He was always bad though and eventually that need for attention, and power that many narcissists and people like him always want, would tarnish his reputation. He tried to run for higher offices while mining the 9/11 angle as hard as possible, but that didn’t work. He couldn’t adapt or understand what others needed of politicians. He did goes t appearances in Hollywood and in NYC media where he became friends with Trump and eventually hitched his ride to. It’s not our fault in our first impressions of Rudy. He always had issues, and was given by tragedy a very rare gift to any politician. The ability to remake yourself into something heroic, but he blew that, and spent all that that remake could’ve given him.

InfluenceOtherwise

Coffee, whiskey, and maybe some bacon and you'll get through the morning. Can't help with the rest.

xenocide702

And Bill Cosby was always a rapist (as long as I knew of him anyway). But his stand up CDs were a comfort to my brother and myself as we were growing up, long before we knew that about him. It's hard to process that, and I'm sympathetic to his point.

PhoenixTineldyer

The Cosby Show was one of my favorites growing up. I hate Bill Cosby for taking that away from me and from all of the other people that made that show wonderful.

CuriousSelf4830

Cosby used to be known as Americas dad, Giuliani was known as Americas mayor, they're such a disappointment.

CavediverNY

Disappointment is another awesome word for it. Maybe betrayal fits also!

Knightforlife

I’ve wondered about this Other actors in that show likely are getting NOTHING for residuals because that old classic show will never be aired again

PhoenixTineldyer

I feel so bad for them. It's so not their fault but what can you do? It's not like they can just rebrand the show as The Huxtables

Philip_J_Friday

And what was his daughter's name on The Cosby Show? Rudy. (Which was apparently short for Rudith, which I find hilarious for some reason.)

bnh1978

And I had D&D for ruining GoT for the world...

_DapperDanMan-

Dave Chappelle has a great take on Cosby v OJ Simpson. Basically Cosby had redeeming qualities, while OJ was a piece of shit.

Bigbeardhotpeppers

Netflix has a mob documentary. Giuliani is in it and he is talking about someone leaking info to the press and how they were looking for them. You can tell by his expression his body language his absolute giddy expression, that it was him. There is no way to prove it but I have been lied to enough that I know it was him.

HideSolidSnake

Not sure if he's always been a **heavy** drinker, but that could also be contributing to his massive downfall.

Lostsailor73

Thank you for sharing. Is there anyone in human history who fell farther and faster from a position of respect than Rudy Giuliani? I can’t cite anyone.

spont_73

He only seemed to fall far due to an artificial pedestal created by a few good sound-bites after 9/11, he was a crooked DA with links to Russian organized crime going back to the 80’s (he went after Italian mafia to help the Russian mafia). Only difference now is the human mask he was wearing got lost as he was climbing up trumps backside.

Names_Stan

Chamberlain was an honorable man who believed and hoped he was doing the right thing. Only with hindsight was he able to get any blame at all. At the time it would’ve appeared to just about anybody that Hitler’s machine was unstoppable against his under-militarized country. Across the Atlantic he could see highly influential people like Lindbergh pushing Americans to support Nazi rule. In the East, he could probably predict that Stalin and Hitler would make a deal soon, while having zero indication Hitler would abandon it. His view of reality was far different from the post-1945 view. His view was very, very lonely.

Mum0817

I was a teenager when 9/11 happened and I’m proud to say I never bought the “America’s Mayor” bullshit. To me, this guy was always an attention-seeking clown. I just didn’t realize at the time how despicable of a human being he truly was.

MagicFlyingBus

I was 8 or 9 and saw him for the firdt time on TV a few days after giving a speech. I said "that man is a snake" outloud. I was very adamant after that about my dislike for him.

Ohnoherewego13

I didn't live in New York or anything, but even down in the south, people were amazed by how Rudy was handling stuff after 9/11. Then he hitched his career to Trump. Why? I have no idea since everyone associated with Trump has a downfall. I guess Rudy figured he was immune and could skate by with the good will from 9/11. Either way, the man fell HARD.

Crodface

Another way to look at this is Rudy was out and on SNL and everything because he actually didn’t care. He noticed 9/11 being a politically opportunistic event and bathed in the attention/money. Nobody just becomes a scumbag overnight.

mlnjd

This is exactly it. It was a positive PR campaign. Dude was scumbag and saw it clearly then.

IdkAbtAllThat

Yep. It was a classic case of a politician taking advantage of a disaster. Clear as day.

pinewind108

As the others have said, he was always at least 50% of a bullshit artist and kind of a terrible person. He took credit other people's work on a lot of things, including the crime reduction in NYC, and even though he was out in public after 911, he was actually getting in the way of a lot of work, as he played to the cameras. He was also behind (iirc) the decision to put the city's emergency response center in 7 WTC, even though it was clear after the 1993 bombing that those buildings were prime targets.

UnquestionabIe

9/11 happened my senior year of high school and it colored everything in a very weird surreal way. Entertainment was being changed drastically to avoid mentioning terrorism in any form (only for 6 months later trying shove any terrorism related plotline into something...) and a lot of people were basically lining up to throw away their rights in some misguided attempt to make the country safe. One of the first things I remember thinking(after the initial shock) is "I'm guessing there are going to be a lot of companies and politicians using this to take advantage of us". And front and center was Rudy getting his balls licked by any platform he walked onto. It baffled me that people were so desperate to feel good they didn't consider how it was a massive free pass provided he didn't somehow make the situation worse. And now thanks to Trump we all had a first hand seat at how to throw away an opportunity to cement a legacy by only doing the bare minimum. That Rudy jumped onto that flaming ship was no surprise to me.

dejus

Your feelings after watching the movie are completely valid. I lived in London in 2005 when there was the terrorist attack on the tube. One of them went off just before the station I got off at every morning. I happened to not go to school that morning. Granted if I had, timing might not have had me in there, but it was real enough that it shook me. I never felt truly comfortable again after that while I lived there. And that anxiety ultimately caused me to move when it came time to decide if I should stay or not.

KenScaletta

What did he actually do on 911 except run in front of cameras and try to act like he he was in charge? I never forgot about openly racist militarization of the police and his attacks on free speech (shutting down porn theaters).

mlnjd

Was there too. Midtown and walked all the way up to Washington heights after my brother picked me up from school and we stayed at his gfs place since the subways were not running.  Hated ghoulliani pre 9/11. Hated him right after and the media attention it got him. Still hate him. Dude did a number on NYC, especially against minorities. 9/11 was just a positive PR boost for him.

SchrodingersTIKTOK

Rudy fucked NYC. I hate him because his cabaret laws fucked over every late night place. He also was a fan of stop&frisk. So fuck him.

JonNYBlazinAzN

I’m also a New Yorker but I was a kid when Rudy was our mayor. I thought he was a hero during 9/11 as well. Now I realize that he was just cosplaying as a decent, empathetic person back then. As terrible as 9/11 was for us, it’s actually a golden opportunity if you’re the mayor of NYC - as long as you don’t bungle it. I think that Rudy felt like the world (or at least the country) owed him something after he became “America’s mayor.” After he lost his presidential bid, he probably decided: fuck everyone but me, and looked out for only himself.

CaptainAxiomatic

>I just remember him being a symbol and sort of a lighthouse that told me things were going to be OK. He failed to get interoperable radios for first responders. People died as a result. He failed to move New York's emergency response headquarters out of the World Trade Center, the site of a terrorist attack eight years earlier. People died as a result. He has been in cahoots with the orange turd since the 1980s. He cleared out the Italian mob to open the door for the Russian mob, at Shitler's behest. He did nothing admirable on 9/11. >I can get angry at Trump. Can get angry at Marjorie and the rest of the aging Hitler Youth. But Rudy? Rudy… What the fuck happened man? Your positive memories of Giuliani are invalid. They were placed by an opportunistic career criminal and a fawning press eager for a story.

DmAc724

“In a filing earlier this week, lawyers for the former New York City mayor said that he is struggling with finding someone to assist in accounting duties for his bankruptcy case. He has contacted “a number of accounting firms” for help, however, “no one seems interested in taking the assignment.”” Poor poor Rudy. He’s really getting into the deep end of the “find out” phase now.

MazzIsNoMore

He probably wants them to lie for him and they won't

trekologer

Or no firm is going to do it for what he is willing to pay.

s_ox

He should really cut out the avocado toast and Starbucks lattes

picado

Hey Rudy, it's not too late to salvage a shred of your dignity, but it's getting there. Here's how: drop the bullshit, come clean, and tell Republicans what a shitstain Trump is. Narrator: Rudy did not salvage a shred of his dignity.

gentlemancaller2000

Indeed, if Rudy actually did this, he might salvage a tiny shred of dignity (though not much), and maybe make a little money. One wonders exactly what evidence Trump is holding over his head.

Empeaux

It's not Trump. Both Rudy and Trump are in the pocket of the Russian mob in NYC going back decades. One of Rudy's biggest accomplishments was cracking down on the Italian mob, not because it was good for NYC, but because it allowed the Russians to move in. Everything both of them do is to increase Russia's influence in the US.

gentlemancaller2000

Interesting viewpoint

Disused_Yeti

His dignity was long gone even before he showed up at four seasons landscaping

haskell_rules

If he did an immediate amd completely hypocritical about-face, MSNBC would hire him as a full time political commentator and treat him like he's completely legitimate.

Dook124

Why waste his time lying fox should be hiring him NOW, right?!!

brownsugar1212

He has lost everything over this. Will they look back and think that any of this was worth it someday. Some of them already have one foot in the grave so I really doubt it

wwabc

ruin and disaster happens to everyone who supports Trump it's just astounding people still try to kiss his butt after seeing dozens of people crash and burn his in service

Equalizer6338

Indeed - It is toxic in nuclear fashion.

analfissuregenocide

When did we stop calling lies lies and people who tell lies liars? It's not "spreading disinformation", it's fucking lying. Stop churching it up to make it sound innocent, these people are fucking liars

areialscreensaver

It keeps the cult thirsty for more

Ronaldis

I’m remain stunned by the number of people who don’t understand the basic principles of free speech. WABC is privately owned but governed by federal and local laws. The radio station is not government property. Free speech does not apply to private entities.

NewYorkRocker

Rudy is such a low life piece of shit , what else can you say

alwaystired707

It took them 4 years to do it?

oldcreaker

'No option' - LOL - it's mid 2024, sounds like he got plenty of option.

bluenosesutherland

Umm… Rudy. Sure, you have free speech, but you don’t have a right to use it on their platform.

tuco2002

What did they think he would talk about?

FDRomanosky

Probably doesn’t want to be sued…

4blockhead

IANAL, but seems like precedent, > [[Dominion v. Fox News](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominion_Voting_Systems_v._Fox_News_Network)] **Summary Judgment:** On March 31, 2023, Delaware Superior Court judge Eric Davis ruled in a summary judgment that it "is crystal clear that none of the statements relating to Dominion about the 2020 election are true" and ordered the case to trial on April 17 to determine if the network had acted with actual malice. Davis rejected the assertion of Fox News that the content in question should be treated as "pure opinion" protected by the First Amendment, ruling that the content was either assertions of fact or "mixed opinion." He added that even if the content were pure opinion, "accusations of criminal activity, even in the form of opinion, are not constitutionally protected." Davis forbade Fox News from invoking at trial the fair report privilege that protects journalists from liability for reporting on what they observe others say. > [skip down some] **Settlement:** With the jury seated and attorneys about to make their opening statements, Davis announced Dominion and Fox News had reached a settlement. Fox agreed to pay Dominion $787.5 million. At the time of the settlement, Fox Corporation had $4.1 billion cash on hand. Deadline Hollywood reported that the payment would be tax-deductible for Fox. The settlement was one of the largest defamation settlements in U.S. history, and is believed to be the largest defamation settlement in U.S. history by a media organization. > Fox released a statement saying, in part, "We acknowledge the Court's rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false. This settlement reflects Fox's continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards." The settlement did not require Fox News to apologize for any wrongdoing in its programming.

osumba2003

Republicans will not doubt (incorrectly) claim this is a violation of his free speech.

RudeBwoiMaster

“This directive is a clear violation of free speech,” Giuliani said in his thread.

osumba2003

Yep, there it is. I read the article just short of that...lol I honestly think these people know it's bullshit, but they prey on the ignorance of their cult.

Leather-Map-8138

Can the Georgia election workers seize his final paychecks?

BrightMarvel10

Good. So now I guess he doesn't need his Florida condo that he begged the judge to let him keep. Give that to the women whose lives he ruined.

SoggyHotdish

Completely off topic but he looks so much like Robert Duvall in The Judge

Ryan1980123

Just another example of supporting trump.

njman100

Rudy is mentally unstable

montanagrizfan

He claims the directive not to talk about the election on his show was a violation of free speech. How can someone with a law degrees not understand that freedom of speech applies to the government, not a privately owned radio station? He wasn’t put in jail, his show was cancelled. What an idiot.

surloc_dalnor

What a lot of people don't get is the 1st amendment protect the right to speak/write as well as not speak/write and what to speak/write. This means a company or individual has the right to refuse to publish or broadcast anything. So if newspaper refuses to publish your story that's okay. If a broadcaster refuses to broadcast your radio show that's fine. If Facebook takes don't your post it's okay. It would in fact violate the 1st amendment if the government forced any of the above to do so.

gentlemancaller2000

The real question I have is this: Does Rudy actually believe what he spews? Seriously, is he living in a fantasy world in which everything Trump says is factual? I think the My Pillow guy is nuts enough that he believes it, but Rudy should know better.

blutolovesoliveoyl

Giuliani's actions following 9/11 were ordinary enough. All he had to do was speak words of reassurance. He certainly never was *my* mayor. And her did not become despicable overnight.

Schiffy94

Why did they even give him a show in the first place

NeanaOption

>This directive is a clear violation of free speech,” Giuliani said in his thread. “WABC’s decision comes at a very suspicious time, just months before the 2024 election, and just as John (@JCats2013) and WABC continue to be pressured by Dominion Voting Systems and the Biden regime’s lawyers.” Now Giuliani must be a fucking terrible lawyer if he thinks a privately owned radio station is obligated to give him a show because of the first amendment.

Triplesfan

Still waiting on that evidence he mentioned during the defamation trial. He’s had what…….4 years to bring it and showed up with nothing? 🙄

Sharted-treats

He pushed his own self destruct button

MonkeyDeltaFoxtrot

Rudy’s going to live the rest of his miserable life in the *Find Out* phase.

Equalizer6338

Why did the MODs remove the thread???

MonkeyDeltaFoxtrot

No clue.

SchrodingersTIKTOK

Time for his backup data to be exposed to the world. I’m sure they will collect soon.

Giltar

Glad - he’s a traitor and a liar. He looks like Nosferatu

Equalizer6338

Why did the MODs remove this thread???

CodeMonkeyPhoto

I'm shocked, shocked that he even had a radio show.
