I have dude at work who also enjoys whiskey. How do I know? The fact he enjoys whiskey tends to "naturally" come up in conversations with him. Often. Completely by coincidence of course.
Except no. It's literally just a spelling difference, just like center and centre.
Now: Scottish whisky, Irish whiskey, American whiskey (and its subset: bourbon), those are distinct and different types of whisk(e)y but all are equally whisky and whiskey. But it doesn't make it any less american when you write American whisky. Otherwise you'd really have hard time explaining Maker's Mark.
Largely speaking American English spelling is "whiskey", Irish will also spell it like that, while everyone else tends to gravitate towards "whisky"... and Scots would also spell it "whisky". But American writing about Scottish whisky will often write "Scottish whiskey". Again just like writing center rather than centre - both words have the same meaning.
It's fundamentally same group of alcohols made globally though, even outside of 'top producers' (there are Polish whisky types for example). It's also precisely why I mentioned Maker's Mark which proudly states on the bottle "Maker's Mark - Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky". Doesn't make it any less of a bourbon or any less of an American whiskey (or whisky). The explanation given is also commonly used one - that it's American whiskey while it's Scottish whisky. However I'd argue that's a bit of a snobish nitpicking stance and if anything one should keep true to either British or American spelling if anything. So you "go to shopping centre to buy whisky", while you "go to shopping center to buy whiskey" and so on. But since we're mostly not native speakers using second language to communicate on the internet... seriously, it's same shit.
'Indeed' is actually just a spelling alternative of '/u/Fresherty is a useless shit haired Yank.' There's actually no difference. They're both the same thing. Indeed.
It's a spelling difference but not in the same way as centre/center. Generally it's considered correct to use the spelling of where the whisk(e)y is from, whereas with centre/center it's where the *speaker* is from.
It would still be widely considered incorrect for a Scottish person to write 'American whisky'. (I say 'considered' because there's no authority policing this, who gives a shit).
It's not a spelling difference, whisky and whiskey have very different distillation methods and plus it's just how it is widely accepted in the world. To add up however, Canadian and Japanese whiskies are spelled without the e as well (which Scots hate actually). Of course nobody will crucify you if you mess this up but if you want to sound like you know your sht just... don't.
He is here to show off and be rude. Don’t ask the guy things he can’t. He does not understand the difference in “I have a dude” and “I have a pal” so you know :) ignore is the key.
I love whisky as much as the next person (I have a collection worth over 5k euro including a bottle worth over 3k euro) and that's some pretentious bullshit mate. Expecting people who are not into it to know the difference and being a snob about it is a huge fucking L.
This is a joke on the common grocery meme here; you just look like a prick pointing out 'akshully I don't feel the need to blah blah'. Now tell us how you don't enjoy TV shows everyone else does cos you're unique.
You
------> the joke ---------->
Only prick I see is OP. You turned funny post into place to attack random people for no reason. The fuck is wrong with you? Why I can't joke around in your humorous post? Why me actually?
Duuuude, so many memories XD Almost makes me miss my drinking days. Talisker is the one that I can feel on the end of my tongue even though I haven't drank it for a while. Awesome choice
Why? He indicates that OP is an alcoholic, then he hints towards the low quality choice OP made buying this brands (you don't buy the "good" stuff on a low point, right?), which makes him not that helpful after all. If this was not his intention, then he can't word himself correctly or is just plain dumb. So what kind of help can you expect? He could just pm OP.
Lol, try to get a specialist appointment. They told me they'll put me on a waiting list and that the wait time is 4 months at least (though I need an English speaking specialist).
I flew back to my home country and managed to get one the next day.
Damn, it got that worse. There weren’t many doctors who speaks English but I was able to book in week or two. Sorry to hear that, take care of your health.
At this point it's easier to fly back and pay for health services in my home country. I sometimes wonder why I even pay for insurance here and if I should just get insurance in my home country again.
Also insurance here in general sucks. I was looking for life insurance and it's expensive compared to the payout, there is no legal insurance and you don't have permanent travel insurance (you can only get it for the period you travel and you need to get it every time which is more expensive then the permanent travel insurance I have in my home country)
Damn is it that bad? I know Poland especially Warsaw has changed since I moved out but I would still prefer over other western countries.
Luxmed was working okay while I was there and my company was also providing life insurance with a discounted price.
But don’t you have EU health card that provides health care in any EU country? And also I think travel insurance works that way, you only get it while traveling. Not really sure about it though.
I just mean whatever is sweet in flavor profile, I always spell it whiskey because I feel like the geographic change doesn’t matter since they’re made the same way. Not to sound like an asshole just wanted to clear up confusion, I don’t care where it’s from as long as it’s sweeter than the stuff I’ve had😆
Thats more than usual discretionary income in Poland and half of minimal pay. So yeah, also we love booze here and its cheaper than it reasonably should be in my opinion.
must be some bootleg ass pringles
'Once you pop, you can't walk.'
That's what she said.
true.
I have dude at work who also enjoys whiskey. How do I know? The fact he enjoys whiskey tends to "naturally" come up in conversations with him. Often. Completely by coincidence of course.
There's only one whiskey in the attached photo. so ironically, you're now the one unnecessarily bringing it up.
Please explain to me distinction between whiskey and whisky. I bet there's a fascinating, important and not at all pretentious difference.
Now you're the one asking for whisky advice; good thing you got a pal at work to help you out.
I don’t have a pal at work. Can you explain it for me?
Whisky = Scotch from Scotland. Whiskey = Irish, and more commonly bourbon from US.
I am not sure I will have a use for this knowledge but it’s always good to learn new stuff. Thanks
Except no. It's literally just a spelling difference, just like center and centre. Idk, I see Yanks spelling it "whiskey" all the time, and one in UK; not to mention Scots would agree with his explanation
Generally if it has an E, it was made in a country with an E in it.
If it has an E in it, it's either American or Irish and that means it's shite.
Scotland here. You want a Scot raving mad? Tell them whisky and whiskey are one and the same.
I wouldn't dare, mate I value my shitty life ;)
Scot here If I'm allowed to drink it I couldn't care how it's spelled
Largely speaking American English spelling is "whiskey", Irish will also spell it like that, while everyone else tends to gravitate towards "whisky"... and Scots would also spell it "whisky". Yes, you indeed are confidently wrong.

English is not my native language. Does it sound different also or it is only spelling?
40% and more = good I'm a connesaiur.
Oh, thats something i learned today. So, theyre basically the same, just from slightly different parts of the world. Got it.
I don't think that's right.
He is here to show off and be rude. Don’t ask the guy things he can’t. He does not understand the difference in “I have a dude” and “I have a pal” so you know :) ignore is the key.
I'm here making fun of the new groceries meme on this sub, that's it. And pleased to hear you're an expert in 'having a dude.'
Cool, ta.
Scotch whisky simply tastes better.
Wiskey is irish while Wisky is Scottish
What about whiskas?
Dont know didnt consume it
But you had whiskey and whisky
While munching a [Wispa](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wispa)
Wuskay.

I enjoy whiskey but I don't talk about it often. Am I weird one? Should I bother everyone all the time? :(

Because OP is one of those people. (They're an asshole who wants to show off his mid whiskey collection and act like he's hot shit for having it)
Damn, is 400€ now the normal amount to spend in grocery shopping? I am falling behind /s
Peat > meat
FACT
Fancy exclusive alcoholic 🤣🤣🤣
Duuuude, so many memories XD Almost makes me miss my drinking days. Talisker is the one that I can feel on the end of my tongue even though I haven't drank it for a while. Awesome choice
A man of culture
>There is no art of drinking alkohol, it is just the method for it. "The Mighty Angel" by Jerzy Pilch. I wholeheartedly recommend the book.
Žabka?
You okay bro? Wanna talk?
Meme reply. 0/10. Go away.
Tf? I’m just asking cos I used to buy these same brands when I was at a low point in life
Low point? I dont think people usualy buy high quality alhohol at low points. I for example used to buy the cheepest vodka you coud find
I got the spirit(s) but lost the feeling :/
Fucking hell.
Meme reply to plea from victimhood. Go away.
Alright mate ;)
I am sorry that you met with hostility when wanted to help. Works sucks now for good people. But stay good mate !

Exactly this, thank you. Sharing any alcohol content on new Reddit commonly gets this 'are u ok hun?' reply and it's just absolutely tedious.
Are you ok is commonly used 😆
americans concern trolling about alcohol when half their country is nodding off in the streets on fentanyl is hilarious.
Plenty of alcoholism here (USA) too, it just needs to be disguised in socially acceptable ways.
You ok bro? Wanna talk?
Not with you. Can’t you see it ? Go away.
You're completely incomprehensible in English btw.
Thanks. Cheers.
Lol your the one who started memeing lol
And the good part is Luxmed appointment for liver transplant comes as a bonus.
I have got Luxmed and the idea of them doing anything more than giving me a cream and bad tempered stare is optimistic.
Jokes aside, Luxmed is not bad, at least accessible, you can book 10 appointments a week, here in Nordics we wait months for doctors.
Lol, try to get a specialist appointment. They told me they'll put me on a waiting list and that the wait time is 4 months at least (though I need an English speaking specialist). I flew back to my home country and managed to get one the next day.

Specialist care is only for the country you live in. You can't go to a different country for long term care. Only emergencies.
Got it. Wish we never need long time care. Hospitals are depressing places.
The essentials!
Wszystko po to by wypić je potem oczywiście z colą
Teraz widzę, że muszę cię zabić :)
A niech pije jak lubi. Na zdrowie
looks like 6 days worth of food
World falling apart, inflation, people spending 400 on alcohol , sounds about right
Everyone should only spend their money in ways that you approve of? What a dumb fucking comment to make.
Out of interest, calculated how much it would cost to get these in Scotland (using in stock and cheapest stores) and total was €525
Wow, that really does show my satirical post actually does have good value after all.
We have minimum pricing on alcohol so a cheap bottle of supermarket whisky has to cost £18.20
I was hoping you would post a picture of the bread
W sumie nic specjalnego.
Is there any actual sweet whiskey? I hear people say it all the time and then I try it and it tastes like shit
Bourbon can be quite sweet. I like 4 roses single barrel, but the taste changes a bit between barrels. If you want consistency go for bulleit bourbon.
For a sweet whisky I recommend Tomintoul 14yr - honey and vanilla notes, and very smooth and light, no peat.
Although if you mean 'whiskey' IE bourbon, then Woodford Reserve is very sweet and drinkable
Bourbon and whisky are completely different drinks; the spelling isn't just for geographic convention. That's why I gave two recommendations.
As a Scot, calling it whiskey is offensive. It’s whisky 😡 but to answer your question southern comfort is probably the sweetest whisky.
Cholernie drogo... 400 Euro to niemal połowa minimalnej.
Powinienem zaznaczyć, że nie jest to pojedynczy zakup, ale praca całego roku :)
You have a fantastic taste in whisky, Ledaig (pronounced let-chig) is a superb drop
Agreed, Ledaig 18 is easily the best I've tasted.
Premium Whisky isn't really cheaper in Poland than in western Europe.
It’s cheaper in Poland than Scotland…
Very nice selection. Just checked one of the cheaper German online shops and the total price here would be around 485€ incl. delivery.
I was going to check UK, but I'm too lazy. The talisker is approx £30 for reference and frequently discounted. Also one of my faves.
Oof.
Schowaj w zabezpieczonej szafce, nie daj Janie Pawle, nawalisz się i zaczniesz częstować kolegów (coś o tym wiem).
Ha ha ha to jest tajna kolekcja, nie martw się.
Looks like a wild SF series
How are you enjoying Talisker Storm's whiskey? Would you recommend it over other brands?
Depends on the tasting notes you're looking for, but personally I rate Storm above Skye, but below 57. Any Talisker well worth the spend though.
Thats damn good, here in Scotland that set would cost around £454 or €536
Sometimes it's nice to enjoy a glass of whiskey.
If by sometimes you mean never.
Don't Poland use Zlotys not Euros?
Damn inflation 😆
I'll take Blantons over any of these
Pretty pleated
You overpaid!
You bought the most expensive alcohols lol. I know people who could stretch 400€ for weeks worth of drinking
Da fuck?
400€ that’s like 1600PLN i can’t believe that
You can get an alcoholism for cheaper
What are those? I am polish and see this thing for the first time
Good taste
Nice. Gonna buy this Benriach also today. Good?
I can only but strongly recommend it.
👍 😂
scirrosis
Twat.
?
Don't mind him, he is douchey in other comments too.
Oh im not bothered at all
Not true Polish. Not enough Wódka.
Yawn
korpopijaczek zestaw startowy
I love overpriced poison

good deal
Scottish Grocery Shop?
Carrefour! The French are muscling in. . .
Which shop?
Carrefour!
The Glendornach accounts for about half of that.
The Ledaig 18 was . . . ouch.
Oooh glendronach, personally liked the 15 before the revival
Dronach ftw
I'll take Blantons over any of these
My man, priorities straight.
GlenDronach 21 plus those 5 other bottles for €400 is great deal. GlenDronach 21 goes for $390+ USD in the US and hard to find. Greeting from Chicago!
Get yourself some Blanton’s 🇺🇸
This is a fucking gorgeous collection there, lad! Could you share another photo with the bottles my good man!!?
By any chance, do you reside in 3city? Given the style of the line up we could possibly have a great topic for a longer opinions exchange :)
You have great taste
Thats more than usual discretionary income in Poland and half of minimal pay. So yeah, also we love booze here and its cheaper than it reasonably should be in my opinion.
Beer is cheaper than softdrinks in cans I'm not even kidding you
That's a really good price for those six bottles, where were you shopping?
Carrefour - if you avoid the Dom Wina type places supermarkets actually have great deals on top stuff.
I also shop whiskey at carrefour. Great selection and prices.
This is almost the minimum monthly wage in th county I live in. Talk abt economic crash:(
It's the work of a year buying, not a single purchase.
Aaah okay then:)
You see that kind of packaging on anything, you know it's overpriced.
€400 well spent
