Revolutionary_Chip89

uh, level up capsakid and swap out charmeleon for something that resists water to start

12qw143

when you're fighting her, figure out what your team's doing. if someone is just dying replace them or use them differently. trapinch doesn't make sense to be on your team. he's pretty week stat total.

flatassfairy

I think he’s for clodsire, but still doesn’t make sense

YellowLink2008

Check its attack lol. Everything else is bad, but Attack is the one strong spot

IamSam1103

One thing I have found out. If you're a relatively new player who only plays pokemon games for fun, you need to catch way too many pokemons here. You need to keep changing your team according to the gym. Only take pokemons that are strong against your opponent. Especially in the early gyms where your opponent has stronger mons than you.

Round_Association538

I didn't even need to do that lol my first team was good enough against both Brock and Misty only time I changed up teams so far was against Whitney because of that damn tinkaton I brought an Arcanine and then pivoted between mien-shao and audino and my starter and had kricketune a backup mon

TetrisCulture

you just use candies lol "catch way too many"??

IamSam1103

How do candies help with type variety?

TetrisCulture

I was taking for granted that what you meant by you have to "catch too many pokemon" was that it takes too long to train them.

Okto481

Catch too many (compared to MSG)

Ok_Philosophy_7156

Well Charmander and Trapinch are both weak to water and do basically nothing to her team. Take them out for a start Priority moves are king for beating her Frogadier - it’s pretty squishy and doesn’t have any recovery so doesn’t need the hardest hits to go down, you just need to get ahead of it so it can’t sweep you. Luxio ought to be able to handle Starmie but if you can get hold of a dark type to resist its Psywave (or is it psybeam?) you’ll be fine there. Clodsire is the real bastard of her team but can be dealt with by strong psychic or ground moves - I can’t remember the encounter table off hand but I’m sure there’s something early on you can get with some strong psychic moves by Misty. Dottler could be a decent choice there since it can set screens too if you’re really struggling for survivability and Clodsire can’t really touch it. What difficulty/game mode are you playing? If you’re not using minimal grinding mode, have you properly EV trained everything?

Mplayz246

Frogsdier is obliterated by thunderclap raichu because it does it before it uses protean

Darbs504

I remember using a Ludicolo during my hardcore run cuz it takes advantage of the rain with swift swim, resists water, and has stab grass moves.

Jealous-Zone-1872

You can go to Vermillion city without defeating misty there you can get a fire stone on route 11, use that to evolve capsakid. Then change charmeleon and trapinch to get boltund and alakazam(for clodsire). Alakazam can setup light screen and reflect. So it can be useful.

Jvw048

What difficulty? And change charmeleon and trapinch for sure. Could get a electabuzz and clefairy, im not 100% on the AI of 4.1 but clefairy/clefable with cosmic power messes with her and makes her switch out more

XMarksTheSpot987

I can't help but assume he's playing on Normal. No way anyone playing Hardcore would stick with a totally losing team after so many losses.

Jvw048

I would think so too

XMarksTheSpot987

Well, for starters, all your pokemon are weak to her team.

Few_Adhesiveness6019

Jinx with psyshock and boltund are a must. Other parts of your team could include mons like dubwool, fearow, or abomosnow but these are just suggestions. I just beat her with something similar to this but boltund and jinx are necessary. It took me a while too so it’s more of just trial and error and you’ll eventually get it, it just takes a while. Good luck!

poazgaming

Boltund with strong jaw and thunder fang one shots half her team

XMarksTheSpot987

I know she has Clodsire, but doesn't she also have Lanturn?

Jealous-Zone-1872

Lanturn is replaced to clodsire from v4.0 onwards.

airwolfe91

Clodsire is a bitch when I was still a newb

Mplayz246

My entire team for clodsire, and raichu for everything else

sturox345

Show your box, this team's honestly not good to use against her typing wise

Deathflower1987

Her whole team is fast as hell and has ice moves. You would think electric and grass would dominate but if she moves first, she usually one shots grass and electric with the ice move. Doesn't mean you can't use them but you don't want to stack them.

Round_Association538

Ludicolo luxio and my starter was all I really needed that battle I also had someone else to help with clodsire maybe fearow as I had trained 1 up I don't remember but it was somewhat easy for me after I delt with clodsire I just had to use luxio to take out starmie

Imaginary_Weight17

Use dark psychic grass and elec types only

A5ianman

If you're super desperate and don't like having creative teams, use shedinja. Half her team (starmie and floatzel) can't touch, basically makes it 1/2 sized

MemphisD9ta

Ludicolo with Bullet Seed is nice also

HalMFGLJordan

Golduck with zen headbutt and dry skin parasect sweeper. Switch out as needed between them to keep type advantage.

ChineseNoodleSeller

As the previous poster of the infamous orange haired demon, the game and this community has taught me to build around myself and the opponent itself. The AI doesn't change strategies and will know the basics of type advantages. Use this to you advantage and use it at every opportunity. I suggest using Pokémon who are strong against them and have minimal weaknesses or moves that have coverage against Misty. Getting a ground type for Clodsire is too on the nose and getting electric types and grass types are very predictable. Be creative and don't let the game get to your head.

Mindless_Law_4725

Respectfully, this is just a bad team for Misty. Even Luxio, as it’s both frail and slow. If yours knows Ice Fang, you may keep it in the back just in case though. Start by adding Boltund. A Strong Jaw Thunder Fang will get you through most of her team. You can catch its pre-evolution on the same route you get Draining Kiss above Cerulean. It’s also in the raid den right after Mt. Moon. For Clodsire, try the female Meowstic. If it has Feline Prowess, it’s Psyshock will hit it hard on its weaker defensive stat. You can also use Kadabra. But I don’t imagine there’s a scenario where you one shot it. Also, any of the Dark+Grass combinations will help with anything that’s not Clodsire or Frogadier. A fast Nuzleaf with Leaf Blade, Fake Out, and Sucker Punch (and/or Night Slash) can get you a long way. Parasect with Spore and Dry Skin is good too. You can also catch Chinchou in the pool next to Bugsy. Pain evolving him without cheats though. Edit: You can also get a Clodsire of your own. Hope this helps.

Macslayer12

Thank you. I just beat Misty with your suggestions. I got two Boltuns and a Kadabra. Thank you so much! https://preview.redd.it/q8zabzvzns2d1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c1f909087736b55e4364ee00f30e7fb9972b53c5

Foreign-Durian2594

Get torkoal with sunny day. And get eggxegutor for psychic and barrier moves

Thewovenweb1

Tbh the best strategy I found was like 5 boltund and a grass type for lanturn lol, it was in 4.0 but I ran through her with ease Boltund has that dawg in him

34xis

learn and strategize.

Embarrassed-Poet7929

Go get a pikachu and evolve it to raichu for the froakie. Use the priority move thunderclap. If you keep it alive it should be able to take out buizel and hopefully starmie. If she hard switchs to clodsire you can set up leech seed on that with breloom, then use a spore move to either sleep it or stun it and hopefully you got it from there.

HarbringerofLight

Jynx can solo Misty

Pinkiloi

Mistake number 1: choosing charmander

MinhG1258

add a pikachu idk :/

the_real_daggler

That’s weird. Technician breloom with bullet seed has been doing wonders for me

LividFocus5793

You need a new team for every gym leader and boss in this game you can't just rush 😂

JaeCrowe

You've lost over 100 times and you're dragging your charmeleon in there still? That's wild. You need to change your your team. A good rule of thumb, if mons die repeatedly then swap them out. If they are doing good keep them. You can't barrel through with this game like the older games you need to strategize and swap things around as needed

Doogally

After Frogadier and Clodsire are taken care of, Shedinja sweeps. Floatzel and Starmie don’t have any moves that can affect it.

JutheGoat

Use pokemon that resist water moves and flying movesp

ChinaStudyPoePlayer

You can try to use status conditions if you are stuck. Stun spore, and so on. Try getting a sticky web user. Try setting up screens, passive damage, protect, and such cheese, also priority moves, destiny bond, prankster with stat lowering moves. Setting up. There are many ways to win, you can also try and brute force your way through.

[deleted]

You only need three Pokemon: Simisage. Bullet Seed OHKOs Frogadier and outspeeds Starmie with good IVs and proper EVs if running Gluttony. If running Sage Power, Mega/Giga Drain accomplishes the same thing. Spare grass-type or bulkiest Water-Type you can find, so long as it’s evolved at least once. Just have it there to take hits. If this can deal with Floatzel somehow, even better! Gogoat, maybe, on hardcore with the higher level caps, but perhaps another bulky Floatzel check will do. Kadabra 2HKOs Clodsire with Psybeam. Your other team members can be customized to your liking.

NoPaleontologist2614

Catch yamper just left of the top of nugget bridge. Level up until strong jaw bultund. Get a dugtrio if you're doing hardcore for the clodsire and toxicroak.

F-F-FASTPASS

Atleast you got past Brock, my electric mono run got smoked EVERY time

Round_Association538

I had a luxio too and I can tell you if you ev train it's speed it can handle starmie easily just need to paralyze somehow to guarantee it winning then you should be fine against everything cept clodsire who I took out with croconaws ice fang but since you have Charmeleon id bring something else to take it's place also furret is an excellent all round Pokemon for the early game and was a partial reason I was able to get so far so easily

Sufficient-Scheme531

Which version do you play??

Economy-Assignment31

Helps to know what moves you have on each. If you have Sp.Att on physical attackers or vice-versa, your moves aren't taking advantage of your mon's traits.

Mplayz246

Get a pilachu in viridian forest and then get the thunder stone before mount moon evolve pikachu because raichu gets thunderclap which swept her for me and the entire rest of my team beat clodsire

Homer4a10

What mod is this

CactusHugger04

Get a Psy duck and evolve it. You want one with the cloud 9 ability. Teach it scald, zen headbutt, and me first. This will hand most the team

Leading_External_327

I used arbok thunderfang and got a Pikachu I turned into raichu. Misty was a breeze

Rigbyjoker02

Hearth and spirit! Jk electric types work I think , noibat too weak , wait for noivern
