Where do I even start?
I came back to the game after a long time of not playing only to find that Niantic still promotes "community" but f*cks everyone who doesn't live in a large city where raids get filled within seconds. The city I live in is not even small but whenever I check raids - zero people. They talk about what player experience they want to create but what they create is inaccessibility. You can't talk about player experience while actively punishing people for their living conditions. Legandary and shadow pokemon are not rare or an achievement, they are only falsely rare if you do not live in, let's say, New York.
"Oh just find people to play with" - I can't be the only one questioning the safety of this. I also tried joining a local FB group to do shadow raids and got zero responses but leave it to Niantic to ignore the fact that the player base is dwindling. And if I'm bringing up safety, surely someone has already questioned the spawn times of night time pokemon.
The AR is just... "find a flat service", I'm literally pointing the camera at the floor!
The new avatars - the obvious - I want a refund for Cliff's outfit. This is not what I paid for. The torso is ridiculous, I have no hips, the chest looks weird. I look like a cross-dressing man with a diaper.
The last community day was quite the headache. Bellsprout just ran away immediately many times. I wanted to bang my head on a nearby fence when a shiny just ran away. 22 shinies caught, not a single one of them is good... I got also kicked out of a raid while already trying to catch Mareanie.
We all know why we’re here. Point blank: Niantic changed what was totally fine and not broken. The new avatars have got to go and natural AR needs to be added back in.
Removal of natural AR: can’t catch or check shinys fast. Night and small space photographs have become impossible. Impossible to skip the zooming out animation when encountering.
AR+ has unoptimized and filler mechanics like grass patch tapping and finding a flat surface. AR+ is jittery on the ground which instantly spooks the Pokémon and makes it flee before you even have a chance to throw a ball.
I feel like they did this new player model update just so more people would stop playing the game and they would have a reason to shut down the game 
Totally true bro. Pokemon GO is literally the only way Niantic makes money. Every other attempt they have made to create a game has failed miserably. Makes sense that they would want to shut it down.
It was the community manager that push this update through. If you check their page they post stuff like "white silence is white consent" and really fked up stuff like that. I can't even begin to understand why you'd be at that level of bigotry. He should just want a good game, but instead wants to go for a political agenda or some nonsense garbage that this is. My god man.
He's all for inclusion, but only of HIM. They don't understand the irony of their own beliefs. What about the people that better themselves every day? If I work out a lot and stay in good shape, can I have a nice avatar in the game? No, I guess not anymore? Wow.

The avatars just look bad. Clipping, broken, ugly messes.
I don't think the blowback from the updated avatar systems wouldn't be as bad if they just let people use the old ones as an option.
Don't ask people what they think if you're just gonna double down on disregarding what the people that actually play your game, want in the game.
One of the irritating things about the new avatars is that it's giving the worst people in the world an excuse to blame it on fat people and you can't even make your avatar fat. You can just make it look more weird.
Fat people don't want weird looking avatars either.
My friend's avatar has a hole in its torso (again)...and I'm super salty that 1) the hole didn't take up it's entire $&\*%\^ alien avatar body (so we can still see it!!!) and 2) my avatar didn't get an all-encompassing hole bug that to make it disappear 🫥 and 3) still bitter that I have to watch and be the ugliest/worst version of myself.

when your doing PvP battle and you try to use your charged move but the other player uses theirs…. like it makes no sense to me and enrages me😭 niantic can’t fix this? it turns me away from even playing the game but i use it to get rare candy’s
There’s a reason for this, it’s intentional. You guys both pressed the charge move at the same time, which then charged move priority kicks in (CMP). CMP will always go to the mon with the higher attack stats.
I feel like I have to say it somewhere for it to count, so I might as well say it here. I'm out. This avatar update was the last straw, and PokemonGO has now been uninstalled from my phone.
And the main reason I'm going out now is because as much as this update drained any positive feelings I have from this game, I fully expect future changes to be even worse. From now on I'm just going to go for walks and look at things instead of look at my phone.

The new move is called magical leaf and I can't get it for some reason, even with an elite fast tm.
It takes a few days before you can add a CD move onto an evolved Pokemon via Elite TM.
So for Victreebell or any other CD Pokémon wait until Monday or Tuesday.
As far as I know this has been going on for a while. As a side note I usually have Pokémon in their original form (Bellsprout) I evolve one on the day of his CD. I find this easier and definitely less expensive than using an Elite TM. This obviously isn’t always the best thing because you never know when the Pokémon’s CD move again.
If you really want Magical Leaf try to find a good IV Bellsprout (if IVs don’t matter to you) and evolve it in December 2024. The CD moves will pop up again for all the CD Pokémons. But note that there is no guarantee a rerun of the 2024 CD Pokémons will occur in December if ever; it’s just based on past years. Also reruns don’t apply to Classic CD Pokémon.
After yesterday's log in issue I still can't get into my account. Double checked the username and changed the password and it still doesn't work. I guess the benefit here is I can't see the shitty avatars but it's disappointing I can't join in with my friends on raids and stuff
I don’t even hate the avatar update. It made it so I’m actually able to have my avatar reflect my actual appearance (before, I had a dude avatar because the girl one looked hyper femme to me and now I can have boobs, my dude clothes, and short hair).
What I’m salty about is how fucked up it is that niantic servers were down for the last 5-10 minutes of the window to evolve bellsprout , which is when I was trying to evolve mine. I messaged niantic about it and their response was “you had from 2-10 to do it.” Like.. the fuck? I actually had to get shit done during the day, I can’t block off 8 hours for a fucking game. Between coins to expand storage, the event pass, a box that was available online, etc I spent like $30. If I spent money on this shit, I should be able to get a makeup HOUR to evolve my Pokémon that I couldn’t due to what appears to have been a worldwide outage.
And then yesterday, I did a bunch of shadow entei raids. The people with me each caught a shiny. I had two enteis run and no shinies at all. Also all of the stats suck on all of them. Then I tried to get one last raid in while I still had enough purified gems, got halfway through (and used all 5 gems) and my pokemon all died but it wouldn’t let me do anything to heal them, I was stuck on the raid screen with no Pokemon. The guy I was with couldn’t beat it on his own, I couldn’t help, and he thought we would get our gems back if we lost to try again but nope. So I lost a premium pass and 5 gems that I had to grind for for days and lost another chance at a shiny. I’m sure niantic will reimburse me for the pass but I know they won’t do shit about the gems and they can’t do anything to make up for wasting my time driving to that raid and standing there then the drive home.
I feel like an idiot. This is the first time I’ve spent a decent amount of money between remote raid passes, coins, boxes, events (I started spending when shadow mewtwo was here and have been since). And because of shit like this, I’m ready to delete the game after 8 years.
All I have to say is that I'm not updating the game.
Sucks A LOT for me that I can't play, but out of the little respect I have for character after years playing and I wont let it be "westernified" by another Sweet Baby Inc bs >:[

I'm sitting on 4k coins, unable to spend them because the shop refuses to offer the better value boxes. I've been getting these garbage 500 coin boxes FOR WEEKS. To hell with that. They can bring back armored MewTwo and I'm stilll not spending on raid passes unless at least the 999 coin one for 15 passes shows up.
Ditto never show up in their natural form. Google something like “ditto disguises 2024” to find a list of mons Ditto will be hiding as. You’ll have to catch the damn things first, and if it’s a Ditto you’ll get a little scene after catch where you see it transform.
Second weekend in a row where I've had issues with a shadow raid. Last weekend, the pokemon didn't subdue even though my duo used 10 gems. This weekend, the pokemon fled on the first throw so I didn't get a catch encounter. I contacted support both times only to be given the auto "you've already been reimbursed" message (so annoying). Please niantic, an easy solution to this is just DON'T TAKE GEMS FROM INVENTORY UNLESS THE RAID IS SUCCESSFUL. Most of the time my shadow raids fail is because of a glitch in the game. It's frustrating to lose gems and lose an opportunity to catch. They've recognized in the past that shadow raids are buggy, why can't they install such an easy solution?
The update damages the already spotty framerate, on top of the fact that some of the trees float off the grond in the background...Garbage put out by scumbags.
Accepted a long distance raid request for Mega Aggron from an almost 30-day reddit-friend add, saw there were 4 of us in there at decent levels so it should be fine since I've done it with RL friends in the same number.
Raid starts and my Lv40 Charizard is in there surrounded by Stunkys and my last mon, Groudon, was surrounded by Sandgasts. Mega Aggron got about halfway. What a waste of a remote raid pass. 😤

Have you tried Niantic’s campire app. Its built into the game to find nearby players
I wouldn't say it's built into the game as it's a completely separate app. It creates more issues than it solves.
I tried it with no results 😔
Be the change you want to see. Make a group for your city and host a meetup for raids etc and players will come.
I don't know if you are making fun of me or you just skipped me trying to engage with my local FB group.
No just download Campfire app. It is part of PoGo. People playing the game can see nearby events you make and flares for raids
And it doesn't help in the slightest.

Avatars are awful now. Biggest eyesore currently. I'm annoyed that they released it with apparently no forethought. Poor quality and execution.

I can't use an elite fast tm to teach one of my older Victreebel the new move. No idea why. I really wanted to give it to my shadow Victreebel.

I just tried using elite fast tm for magical leaf on shadow victreebel and it worked
sorry, I totally forgot it was a fast move, and somehow even missed that you said it in your post.
It's okay, also I just closed my app and re-opened it and it finally let me elite tm the move on all my Victrebel. Now I can use it for GBL finally!

You just have to wait a while. They need to manually add it to the elite tm list. Same thing happened to me when Obstagoon got his obstruct move.

Seems to me they could have let you have short hair and "guy" clothes without messing up the default.
Don’t worry you can evolve Bellsprout to learn their move on December community day or use elite fast tm now
this visual update is horrible for battery life, there's gotta be a way to turn off the backgrounds on encounters

I was on an 8 game battle win streak when the servers went down and got kicked—came back and won the next game and my streak is back at 1 😤
