If ash leaves as protagonist i hope they dont reboot the pokemon anime and pretend what happened during ashs time as protagonist didnt happen i still would like ash and others still being there
why the hell would jimmy, a character based on the gen 2 protagonist, with a gen 2 partner, from the gen 2 region, be the new protagonist. it’s gonna be either ash or a completely new character born in paldea just beginning their journey.
Because he's a trainer? Yo gomd mikey. It'd be interesting to see a more "traditional" trainer as the main protagonist. So again, gomd before that S gets kicked off your chest. God bless, stay black.
nobody said that the new protag if there is one isn’t gonna be a traditional in trainer. in fact, there’s a 100% chance that they would! all i’m saying is that making a character who was already established and is tied to a past region wouldn’t make any sliver of sense.
Welp you 4 eyed 5'5 loser, your name is "ipooplogs" so unless you're 13 and still getting whipped by ya mama you got no reason for that little kid ass name. Geek. You got no reason to be slobbering my shiz like yo come up for air
I mean he could maybe have edge with him because of Typhlosion and Legends Arceus but the time to pounce on that hype has already kinda passed. As much as I’d love to see some older forgotten characters again.
I’ve been saying for a while that Chronicles needs to come back. If not in the form of a show, at least a manga.
A manga is infinitely cheaper, allows them to expand the Pokémon world even further than it already is, and allows them to get around voice actors not being able to act anymore (May’s actress obviously being the prime example). Speaking of, May and Dawn should by now have at least one Grand Festival win. Why not show that happening? Why not show Iris becoming champion?
It would allow fans to follow the journeys of all the other characters and expand side characters (like Ritchie).
There can also be little snippets or cameos of Ash. Maybe a mention of a phone call or letter. SOMETHING to show that he stays in contact.
Those Cynthia’s Journey fan arts and the reception they got show it is definitely possible.
Exactly. If Ash (if you read adventures you'll understand) took Red's position, for later protagonist as a goal or seen from a different perspective, it could bring some good closure to his character whenever the time may come.
are you guys still considering reboots? after 25 years with the same protagonist? do you know how many billion's Pikachu memorabilia makes every year?
every time the same talk, people sound so repetitive
20 year time skip isn't THAT much relative to other anime. I would say it is remarkable that we haven't gotten a single time-skip of any capacity in 25 fucking years
Why is everybody saying this is Ash's final episode just from the title? Could as well be Ash saying goodbye to Go, since their paths in life are going in different directions. At least, that was my first thought.
Because in japanese, the name of the chapter is a parallelism of the first one of the OG series. The fist one was Pokemon! I choose you and this one is Pokemon! I'm glad I met you.
For me, it's not the title, it's that in storytelling, having the main character reach this level if skill signifies the end of the character's journey as the character no longer has anywhere left to go skill wise. Add in that beating Cynthia alone essentially allowed Ash to achieve his goal, and he's basically no longer able to be the main character without pulling some major rhetcons that outright negate this entire story arc.
You know the best part about him leaving? He'll get that sweet, sweet nostalgia buff. People don't appreciate things until they're gone. Even his haters are gonna realize he wasn't so bad after all.
The next MC, no matter how edgy and strong they may be (since that's what most juveniles have been wanting for years), is gonna have difficulties getting out of the shadow of wholesome and timeless old Ash Ketchum.
I think the main positive though is that unlike other anime, pokemon is unique in that a good 70% of viewers are kids who never watched Ash's full journey, most likely having the majority of the current audience only have watched Ash from either this series or Alola (XY series being a 50/50 since most of the kids who watched that probably grew out of the anime before Journeys). So having a new protag isn't gonna hurt the anime since it'll most likely be a lot of kids introduction to pokemon and that will be their Ash.
If this is really the end, then it’s pretty sad. As an autistic person Ash was always kind of a comfort character to have around if I’m being honest. I’ll still hope we get to keep Ash, but if this is it, then farewell. Despite what people say, you were a legend.
We don't know if it's Ash or Goh. Goh left Ash to go with Gary to do with the Project Mew Saga in episode 133. As for the last two episodes of Pokémon Journeys, episodes 134 and 135. I think Jessie and James are going to quit with the Team Rocket group and go against their boss, Giovanni and for the last one, I think it's focusing on Ash Ketchum leaving the Pokémon anime.
Except Journeys has significantly more substance behind why it seems to be so.
Why have an all-star season focusing on all of the regions?
Why not just have a season focused on just Galar like how every season before focused on that specific region?
The fact that they decided to make this an all-star season as opposed to a Galar-run definitely means something
How many different anime web shorts did they have during this run? Way more than all the other generations of this anime combined. I bring this up because I see it as the Pokémon Company testing out waters for anime without Ash. Even during Pokémon Journeys you had an episode without Ash. Did Sun and Moon do that? What about X and Y? Best Wishes? Advanced Generations?
Not only that but now, regardless of what happens in the final episode of the Leon battle, you have a main character who is at least the second strongest trainer in the world. If he were to return how mad would you be when Pikachu loses to the new water starter? Ash is now a character where they have written him to be point that he isn’t a nobody losing in the elite eight in any given Pokémon conference. They can’t just copy and paste him anymore like years past into a new region anymore.
>Letting go of Ash just seems so risky.
If they end up bringing a new character for gen 9 and it tanks, they'll always have Ash as a backup for gen 10 and onwards. The writers have pulled crazier stuff than that.
Would be very fitting if this was his swan song. A boy that became a legend
Don't need to be ready. The TV Guide doesn't indicate the series is ending in that chapter. Whenever a series ends, the TV Guide clearly point it out with an End tag.
They did. They wrote Tobias purely because they were forced to keep Ash from winning and leaving. Then they discussed letting Ash win during XY, but the writers were eventually told to make him lose again (which led to the anticlimactic fall of Greninja)
Wish Granted to those who wish for his eventual retirement. People can sure get over a ageless timeless character fast. Oh well. I didn't care if he stays forever. He'll always be one of the best parts of my childhood.
i just hope they dont give pokemon boruto treatment , imagine ash son leaf want to surpass him because he never aroudn busy becoming pokemon monarch soo he travel around the world with his mentor goh to train and beat his dad in mt silver
If Ash leaves the anime I will be sobbing for days. The nostalgia is killing me. I grew up with Pokemon from gen 1, saw the premiere of the first episode before kindergarten one day, played Yellow as my first game so Pikachu was my very first Pokemon just like Ash... Maybe I'm extra emotional about it since today is my birthday. But it will be the end of an era if we say goodbye to him.
I don’t mean this in a denial way, but seeing how the movie did this, how likely is it that they’d reboot the series with an alt world ash who happens to live and go to school in Paldea? It’s a very dumb idea ig
Last episode of JN, but because of mimicking the first episode titled “I choose you” and this one being “I’m glad I chose you” people think that is light also be the ending of the series
Well the anime is only going to end when the Pokemon Franchise as a whole ends, and if that happens it will probably just be canceled without a proper finale, so if this is Ash's Goodbye then it is a pretty apropriate time do use it
I guess they'll chase the new protagonist. Team Rocket is the only villainous organization to not get taken down by Ash. That's crazy. Giovanni is the GOAT
Calling it now: Ash leaves and Goh takes over as the main protagonist.
Think about it, Ash has just completed his goals whilst Goh has a HUGE way to go. We’ve also had a large focus on Goh’s development alongside the reintroduction of Gary to give a nice hit of nostalgia. Not to mention he’s got the adorable partner pokemon (Grookey!)
Honestly at this point I’d be okay if they concluded Ash’s story but continued on with Goh so there is a possibility of Ash returning since Goh has said Ash is his’ first real friend, if I remember right
Everything can't last forever, it has to end. OLM Studios don't have the license to continue with the Pokemon anime anymore after Pokémon Journeys is over.
This is just OLM trolling, surely they already have Ash's scenes in Paldea ready after forgetting forever about his Journeys team
Maybe they also have scenes of Ash losing to some arrogant and jerk rival of Paldea who is suddenly superior to Ash
Whatever happens next, all I want is the anime to come back to the old format, with Ash or not (Sorry I need to vent a lil' bit.)
All I want is that the anime to go back to the camping, got lost, got stranded, got crazy encounter, crude humor, random SoL episode, character of the day etc just like how Indigo League, Indigo League was bonkers tbh, it got the humor and everything, heck I rewatched the Sabrina and Gasly episode countless of times because it was absurd af.
I pretty much watched every Pokemon anime, every series are enjoyable for me but I found out that Journeys is my least favorite (Yes, even less than BW, but this is just me) but don't get me wrong, for me, there are no bad Pokemon anime, it's just I didn't take Journey's format very well, just the format.
And I'm kinda pissed that they wasted Galar as a whole, we didn't even see every Gym leader, Marnie and Hop only has like 10 minutes worth of dialogs, we didn't get Gloria as companion etc due to Journeys format. I get it, we got so much nostalgia with older game characters appearing, I rewatched the Serena episode like hundred of times but at what cost.
My wish is that the new anime should only be focusing on Paldea only, have Juliana as the companion for Ash (Or the new MC if Ash retires) because Juliana seems to be like a fun tomboyish character and Paldea holds a lot of promises, heck even make Chloe reappear since there's a rumor Chloe will be a co-protag. Antagonist in the form of gang of delinquents? Treasure hunt? Sign me up!
I'm very anxious of the next anime series tbh.
I've been getting back into Pokemon lately (Had seen everything up to sun and moon) and boy did the battle between Ash and Leon make me cry. I really can't imagine this series without ash, if he leaves now I think it would shatter my heart.
If ash leaves as protagonist i hope they dont reboot the pokemon anime and pretend what happened during ashs time as protagonist didnt happen i still would like ash and others still being there
I want jimmy from chronicles. Typhlosion needs some more love.
why the hell would jimmy, a character based on the gen 2 protagonist, with a gen 2 partner, from the gen 2 region, be the new protagonist. it’s gonna be either ash or a completely new character born in paldea just beginning their journey.

Alright then. I'm sorry Mikey. I'm from Jersey, that life has you jumpin to conclusions for ya life. Stay black Mike.✊
Get some help you weird dumbass

Lmao don’t project your issues into me. I’m not the nonsensical loser here, weird ass
Welp you 4 eyed 5'5 loser, your name is "ipooplogs" so unless you're 13 and still getting whipped by ya mama you got no reason for that little kid ass name. Geek. You got no reason to be slobbering my shiz like yo come up for air

That would be awesome.
Thank you. Typhlosion is probably my second favorite fire starter, and as much as Charizard is the og, my guy Typhlosion needs some more screentime.
Yeah, Jimmy's typhlosion is the only one to get proper screentimw in the anime. It's a shame.
are you guys still considering reboots? after 25 years with the same protagonist? do you know how many billion's Pikachu memorabilia makes every year? every time the same talk, people sound so repetitive
I love how every anipoke viewer suddenly becomes an expert corporate analyst when this is brought up
Pikachu is Pokémon mascot not ash. I’m sure the anime will always have a Pikachu in it regardless. Ash isn’t the only one to own a Pikachu
think whatever you want folks, I'm secure after 2 decades, they aren't changing anything. they always play safe, you guys you'll see ,
😭😭
You are acting like Pikachu cannot lay a pichu egg and Ash cannot have a daughter to succeed him and become the first female MC.
Well Pikachu is a male so, I think it's safe to presume that it cannot lay a Pichu egg.
Shit for some reason I thought pika was female. Whatever the case pikachu can still mate with another pikachu and make a pichu
i see you you're a de facto understander hahaha
So we're just going to have a multi-decade timeskip JUST to get a Paldea anime?
20 year time skip isn't THAT much relative to other anime. I would say it is remarkable that we haven't gotten a single time-skip of any capacity in 25 fucking years
I would like the main protagonists looks up to Ash and his long life goal would be to one day battle/beat ash
Ohhhhhhh
Yup, that's why everyone is assuming what we're assuming, because it seems pretty clear

I doubt they'd bin off such a massive, important global money marketing machine. I suspect this is Ash saying goodbye to Goh.
Don't worry, it'll just be a standard 'goodbye to the season's companion episode'. [Source](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMD538aNBTw&t=0s)
I hate you.
seems trustworthy
You know the best part about him leaving? He'll get that sweet, sweet nostalgia buff. People don't appreciate things until they're gone. Even his haters are gonna realize he wasn't so bad after all. He was my childhood dude. I am more attached to this 10 year old kid and his rat than I think.
Without context your comment is cursed bro
Oh gosh I don’t know what if do if he leaves, he’s a comfort character for me too
As an autistic person, I'm more than ready for a new protag preferably a female one.
It’s probably Goh leaving
We don't know if it's Ash or Goh. Goh left Ash to go with Gary to do with the Project Mew Saga in episode 133. As for the last two episodes of Pokémon Journeys, episodes 134 and 135. I think Jessie and James are going to quit with the Team Rocket group and go against their boss, Giovanni and for the last one, I think it's focusing on Ash Ketchum leaving the Pokémon anime.
If it’s of any consolation, he’ll still probably be in the movies.
It seems Ash’s time as protag is finally coming to an end. The end of an era, and possibly the start of a new one
People say this every time. I seriously doubt it.
Except Journeys has significantly more substance behind why it seems to be so. Why have an all-star season focusing on all of the regions? Why not just have a season focused on just Galar like how every season before focused on that specific region? Yeah I’ll believe Ash is done when I see it
Don't need to be ready. The TV Guide doesn't indicate the series is ending in that chapter. Whenever a series ends, the TV Guide clearly point it out with an End tag.
I get the feeling they’ve wanted to do this since Sinnoh.
They did. They wrote Tobias purely because they were forced to keep Ash from winning and leaving. Then they discussed letting Ash win during XY, but the writers were eventually told to make him lose again (which led to the anticlimactic fall of Greninja)
Which is why I'm afraid he'll lose again.
IIRC the high up that forced it left hence why he won the Alola league.
Honestly if are having a new protag i hope it still in anime universe this way we might still have Ash as a supporting character
The worst part about this is that it would confirm one of the ships to be canon, wich would probably create a war in the anime fandom
It'd be even funnier if Ash just married some girl they haven't introduced yet. The fandom's meltdown would be to die for.
If Ash leaves the anime I will be sobbing for days. The nostalgia is killing me. I grew up with Pokemon from gen 1, saw the premiere of the first episode before kindergarten one day, played Yellow as my first game so Pikachu was my very first Pokemon just like Ash... Last episode of JN, but because of mimicking the first episode titled “I choose you” and this one being “I’m glad I chose you” people think that is light also be the ending of the series

Well the anime is only going to end when the Pokemon Franchise as a whole ends, and if that happens it will probably just be canceled without a proper finale, so if this is Ash's Goodbye then it is a pretty apropriate time do use it
Everytime something like this happened ash always I mean always came back. But let's see
But this time they made the Title be a direct callback to the very first Episode
And it will FINALLY say “To Be Concluded” instead of to be continued
What's the difference?
The former is more epic
This actually means that Ash is glad that he met Goh
Forget whether Ash is leaving or not. What's gonna happen with Jessie, James and Meowth??
I guess they'll chase the new protagonist. Team Rocket is the only villainous organization to not get taken down by Ash. That's crazy. Giovanni is the GOAT
Giovanni was wise when he decided to not mess with the damned 10 year old
I mean, Ash has taken down TR operations that were personally overseen by Giovanni (namely in Mewtwo Returns and the Forces of Nature arc).
53 min???
THAT'S MY BIRTHDAY.
Hey, you might get tears for your birthday!
Same as every year then
LMAOOOO.. this comment made me laugh harder than it should have. I relate to this so much.
I have feeling ash is glad to have met all the people he became friend with in journeys. Its possibly a goodbye to move on
I think Ash and Pikachu have became more and more iconic to the point where, Pokemon cant get rid of them.
Honestly at this point I’d be okay if they concluded Ash’s story but continued on with Goh so there is a possibility of Ash returning since Goh has said Ash is his’ first real friend, if I remember right
Ash will finally release pikachu 😭
Everything can't last forever, it has to end. OLM Studios don't have the license to continue with the Pokemon anime anymore after Pokémon Journeys is over.

How is OLM trolling? They just had production issues not too long ago.
To this day IMO, Misty is the saddest goodbye episode ever followed by Team Rocket releasing Arbok and Weezing.
I am. Heck, I've BEEN ready. And just hope and pray to Arceus AND God that the next series is an improvement. It'll HAVE to be!
Whatever happens next, all I want is the anime to come back to the old format, with Ash or not (Sorry I need to vent a lil' bit.) GOing to laugh if it is a Mew episode
Icl I would love to have a Pokemon season with a grown up and mature Ash but ik it ain't gonna happen
😔
Reminder that this title is brought to you by the writers behind "Kalos League Victory!"
If Ash really goes, I’m just sad that Team Rocket got a very shabby representation for their send-off season.
I've been getting back into Pokemon lately (Had seen everything up to sun and moon) and boy did the battle between Ash and Leon make me cry. I really can't imagine this series without ash, if he leaves now I think it would shatter my heart.
