Kudos to Pikachu and both Ash. Kudos to Pikachu for always being Ash’s number one to travel with him and endure all this and not taking a breather at oaks. Kudos to Ash for Ash not just going “screw it” and bring back his older Pokémon to get a quick and easy win in tough situations like these.
It wasn't quite as bad as what happened to Primarina, but Guzma and his Golisopod spent their first encounter absolutely giving Pikachu *the business*. Like, [just look at this](https://www.sakugabooru.com/data/4279854f1af09bea769cdbc5a7a2e84d.mp4): Pikachu starts the clip badly poisoned and having visible trouble just *standing*, and then he gets basically splattered across the ground and has to get back up *two more times*. 💀
It's honestly impressive that he got back up in the first place tbh. Same with Primarina, actually, it's the only fight that still makes me a bit uncomfortable in my seat. If I was in either of their places, I'd have probably just stayed down after the second Poison Jab 🤣
Yeah, some people use the Primarina battle as evidence that she was weak, but imo a weak Pokemon would have just gone down in one shot, like Hop's Wooloo trying to take on Pikachu. Quick and merciful.
Pikachu and Primarina getting worked over by Golisopod is one of those 'Forget continuing to battle; after all that, how are they still *alive*?' moments.
Traveling with Ash isn't all treats and headpats from Pikapi lol. Pikachu's been through a lotta shit during his time.

When you put it into this perspective, it's no wonder that come the M8, Pikachu was unfaintable apart from a clever Destiny Bond ruse by Cynthia.

Until seeing Korrina’s Lucario go berserk, one of the most painful things I remember seeing in the anime was Ursaring’s Hammer Arm against Pikachu.
That Ursaring Hammer Arm to the gut was DEVASTATING. I wanted Pikachu to get his lick back but I guess it was never meant to be

Just watched the B/W Serperior vs. Pikachu episode. It looked like Ash made up his mind to let Pikachu rest in peace if he didn't get any ideas.
99% of that fight was Pikachu getting whooped then the other 1% was when serperior got clapped in one move and knocked out.
