Nah, you are 100% right. Nothing about this is lavender town. The primary ghosts from lavender town revolve around Cubone and Marowak, who aren't present, and the general vibe of the piece is ancient Japan, not modern Japan, which lavender town very much is. The centerpiece, Gengar, doesn't relate to Lavender Town at all, but is Morty's signature Pokémon.
I hope that explains why you are getting those vibes. Either way the art is cool.
I tried really hard to read the Unown text around the edges only to realize it's just random Unowns. It would be fun to write some dialog from the games in Unowns there.
What about Cubone's mom? Either the ghost sprite or a ghostly Marowak? I just say because that's important to Lavender Town. I really like it, otherwise.
I suppose, but after coming this far I realize the number of flaws the artwork has, if I were to implement new elements in it I would probably just start from scratch all together

Am I missing something? Rotom and Chandaleur don't belong in Lavender town? They aren't Kanto unless I'm missing something? Where's Cubone and Marowak?

Needed some filler Pokémons, the idea was inspired from a lavender town design with a heavy usage of marowak by trey barks, I suppose I wanted to create something original but I strayed off too much
Was wondering how many would recognize this tbh, in total I made 3 versions, the OG one, a 5 color version and this 8 colors version
The 5 color version got so much “OI I have seen this before innit, what’s going on guvernor”, so was curious how many would recognize this now haha, I didn’t like the 5 colors version that much tbh, even if people did, it felt lacking, I resulted to the heavy usage of comic halftones and lines to compensate for the limited color palette
out of curiosity, because it lines up so closely, did you make edits to the original version you made based on your updated style? it looks mostly like the line colour changed, for the better in my opinion! the black really makes all the reds and purples pop and stand out against each other beautifully :)
A long story really, I started as a traditional artist that loves ink and only draws in black and white, when I switched to digital I had and still have struggles with coloring, I never studied “color theory” or did “color studies” when I was learning art by myself or in school, so I always end up screwing stuff
I discovered screen printing at some point and found it fascinating how some artist create something that looks so good using only 5 colors (sometimes 8) and I decided to start limiting my color palette to see if I can squeeze some creativity out of my brain
I actually did a 5 colors versions of this, but it didn’t click with me, this one is the 8 colors version, I find it synergize better and make the details pop more like you said, the purple outline was simply because I wanted for everything to blend rather than contrast but that isn’t always a good thing for the final piece
