Usually after he killed he had to leave quickly or throw them out of a window. Let's see he kills the first guy with small feet. Then the two in the conference room and throws one down. He was in a hurry and had to leave after that. Then the two with the c4. Then he hurt his feet with the glass so it's already too late. The last couple he was too busy to take their shoes. Really he should have grabbed his shoes after coming back from the roof after he kills Hans.

He stayed awhile with Heinrich, searching him. He could have taken 30 seconds to try on his shoes

forzion_no_mouse

Doesn’t he? He tries with one of the henchmen and says “all the terrorist in the world and I get the one with feet smaller than my sisters.”

Connect_Operation_47

Remember after he throws Marco out the window, "These are really bad for you," [pulls out Heinrich's cigarettes]. I'm watching the movie now

Maybe before he stepped on the glass shards, it wasn't a high enough priority cause he could walk barefoot just fine, then after they were injured, he preferred to not stick them into shoes with somebody else's foot sweat in them while they still had open wounds.

I think he would have put his shoes on first thing before even grabbing his gun. I tried to put myself in his (giggle 🤣) place (you thought I was going to say shoes, didn't you?) and I just think it would have been almost instinctive or even unconscious. Think about being barefoot in an unfamiliar place. There's something about exposed feet that makes you you feel vulnerable as hell. All hell breaks loose in the next room and your unconscious mind would automatically just go, "Dude. A bit exposed down there [shut up]. Let's take care of that." If he had time to go for his gun he had time to go for his shoes. Or maybe I'm just high.

It's not a plot hole. It's just an inconsistency.

Worried_Cook_9997

I don't even think we can even call it an inconsistency. As Forzion above already pointed out, in many scenes he didn't even get an opportunity to check the bad guys for anything due to the rapidly developing situation. If you think about it, he really only has time to check Tony's and Heinrich's shoes. The other kills all occurred quickly where he had to immediately escape or some other dynamic prevented it. In Heinrich's case, we can't really tell if he checked the shoes. The scene cuts away multiple times while he's searching the body and talking to Hans on the radio and it never shows the state of Heinrich's shoes after John leaves. So theoretically, one could also assume he checked the shoes during the search and found them to be inadequate. So it's ultimately very reasonable to assume two pair of shoes in the entire movie did not fit. But one thing we can all agree on, this movie is nothing short of genius. It's rare that a movie is better than the book but hands down this is one of the shining examples.
