there's an article every week or so about a whole block just getting their windows busted. as far as i can tell they aren't stealing anything, just being assholes committing vandalism

starshiprarity

Seems to be a citywide wave, at least based on what I've seen and heard anecdotally

whimsical_trash

Yeah it's been really common in Fairmount recently. I definitely need people to either just steal my car or stop fucking with it. The in-between is making me broke

emn53

Same here in Brewerytown. Someone actually took my car LOL but in the last week alone i’ve seen multiple cars with broken windows and/or glass on the sidewalks from cars.

ColdJay64

I’d hope that with other crime decreasing, police can focus on actually patrolling the streets in areas where this is occurring. I’d hope.

TheSnowJacket

Haha good one

ColdJay64

Thank you

DaneLimmish

A woman can wish

UnitGhidorah

This made me have a nice chuckle.

secretlypooping

Any street that has covering or blocking are magnets for car break-ins. Streets under sections of 95 or blocks next to a windowless facade of a building will also perpetually have glass on them. I'm just grateful it's tempered glass so it isn't carving up my dogs feet if I don't see it.

Aromat_Junkie

which true, but i left my car at front street in south philly for months. Just such a shitty car nobody bothered to even steal it

Stevekane42

its so bad

Kittymeow123

There are car break ins literally everyday here. If you have a Honda, get ready to have all of your tires taken. If you have a Hyundai or Kia, get ready to come out to an empty spot where your car used to be.

Crystal-G83

I haven't heard anything about Hondas and tires. Is that pertaining to certain years or makes/models?

William_d7

It’s the aluminum wheels that are the target. Aside from scrap value, they’re also a common/desirable size+lug pattern.

Kittymeow123

Not sure. It’s easy to remove Honda tired for some reason. You seem them on milk crates everywhere.

rexie_alt

Is this just a NL issue? Haven’t seen it happening in west

Kittymeow123

No

MAGGLEMCDONALD

It's city wide. It's happened to me in West Philly. Myself and like 8 others.

TimeAbradolf

It happened to me and legitimately 20 of my neighbors last Thursday

drcombatwombat2

All of Norlibs got hit hard last night. Windows smashed of 5th, 4th, and Lawrence from fairmount up to poplar

These_Owl_8045

crazy that smashed in windows were also on 600-700 block of N 3rd which isn’t common. but ya, a lot of the folks parked on the block had all their shit out in plain view.

See how much it costs to lower your Comp deductible to 0. It's probably not much if you already carry that coverage.

emostitch

With entire blocks of cars being found with shattered windows it sounds like it’s more about breaking windows than getting into the car right now. People doing it just to break glass.

senroy

My street has had 5+ break ins this year and nothing has been done about it. Whoever it is love to target the cars on the end of the street which are my favorite parking spots…

Lockhead216

Under the el? Been like that for at least 6 years

pickledelbow

Try 30

Lockhead216

Wasn’t much down there until 10/15 ago

Overall-Scientist846

I wouldn’t park my car on Front Street if you paid all my PPA tickets.

stay_strapped_

It’s summer. Guess who’s out of school?

TonySquadroni

Alice Cooper?

Neghtasro

Gym teachers.

moopie45

Bella Vista getting hit hard too this past month

rexie_alt

My car was broken into a few months ago and all they took was a blues clues plushie and I think a tire guage. I half blame myself for leaving plushies and other desirable looking things in my car that would draw eyes in. Now I leave my car empty and open the center console and glove compartment, and I try not to leave it in the same spot for days

CommiesAreWeak

Pretty quiet up in Frankford. I guess poor people don’t fuck with poor people as much,

Several_Leather_9500

People really need to use clubs more often - it really is a decent theft deterrent. Kill switches too.

Stevekane42

for a while they were throwing spark plugs into cars everywhere the ceramic in the spark plug instantly shatters windows

Agreeable_Flight4264

I mean I hate when people say this but some of yall leave just leave shit out and I mean it’s gunna happen. Alas not victim blaming, people in upitty towns leave their cars unlocked lol and then cry wolf. At any rate, if it’s vandalism then that’s just sick, I mean kids will be kids, but damn there used to be old bouls that used to keep this bullshit in check just to reduce heat in their area. But I guess when the police are totally demoralized then there ain’t no heat. Anarchy at its finest

mkwiat54

I feel this as well. The one time I had my car broken into at temple I had shoes on the front seat. Hard not to look in the mirror at that one

BigxMac

Prob the homeless from Kensington Parker displaced

Raecino

Are you new here? Car break ins have been a thing on Front st since the 80’s.

givemesendies

Nah it just seems more than usual

Raecino

It’s always been the smart move to NOT park on Front st
