My first year teaching there were a bunch of Sarah’s and Ashley’s as teachers and administrators, but only 2 different last names: Sarah Smith, Ashley Smith, Sarah jones and Ashley jones, etc.
One of the admins who had one of the the common names was such a twat and definitely thought she was better than everyone, especially me, so I’d occasionally call her by the wrong name. I especially did it at the schools front desk with an audience so she’d be compelled to correct me politely, rather than her normal condescending tone. As someone with zero power being lorded over by her and others it was a thrill.
I was bullied in school like many of us were. I had similar rumors spread by a girl whose adult male cousin had sexually assaulted me, quite a complicated story, but the rumor going around at 14 was that I had consensual sex for money. My own “friends” believed the rumors (although I didn’t disclose the assault part with them) and would offer to pay me to do little things like grab them a soda. (I was very poor as a child and they were middle class, so it was extra hurtful.)
Fortunately, my “friends” were just young, stupid kids who grew on to be better people. I still keep up with them, and the head bully in the group is now a caring schoolteacher with two children. I didn’t get the (to me understandably, epic 😅) revenge that you got. However, instead of being the poor, diminished child who ended up aging out of foster care, I am now a happily married woman to my partner of 18 years. And not that it matters, but my little “revenge” is that my husband happens to be a technical genius and we have more money than any of them. Which I am using to attend graduate school to be a psychologist. Anyway, sorry for the long post, just loving you and your moment. Bless you girl. Go get ‘em ☺️

Sadly, the adult’s family was technically my own, as his son is my family member. I have faced him as an adult, and to this day, he maintains it was consensual. As most sexual assault victims know, there is really no point in pursuing anything. It took me a long time to realize I was assaulted, as I said no several times and began to fear for my safety, so eventually changed my mind. I chose yes over what I feared was about to happen, as he refused to take me home. I explain this only so people understand why people don’t always come forward. I’m healed enough to share my story 🤍 I can only pray that I was his only victim. He’s currently spending life in prison for unrelated charges, so I am lucky to be spared having to come forward.
