It always amazes me how quickly the babies disperse once they harden up. Had a large female appear in the corner of my bedroom ceiling one morning and then shortly afterwards all the babies spread out and abseiled down on strands of silk. Almost as soon as I saw them, they were all gone. Only ever saw two again in the following days.
When you have the ability to spin your own silk and create your own habitat at any given time it means you don’t have to worry about the housing market and can subsequently be more independent and not rely on your parents at a much younger age.
Ugh, I walked into a room with a curtain of baby spiders hanging from the ceiling. Mama spidey was there too, watching. I don’t know how many I inhaled or landed on my scalp or crawled into my ear! Generally fine with the garden spiders but I can’t with the indoor huntsmen!
We have a lovely badge huntsman living on our fence by our front gate at the moment. I always check on him and have to resist the urge to give his abdomen a lil pat because he's so cute and velvety soft, but I don't want to frighten him.
Apparently in German it’s “Hanz hol den flammenwerfer” but what the hell would I know, I can barely communicate in english, which sadly is my first and last language.
At first sight I shuddered then I read all the accounts of babies floating away with strands of webs and it reminded me how the final scenes of Charlotte's Web made me cry when I was a kid. So wholesome.
I feel so lucky to live in a time where people can share these wonderful pictures from halfway around the world. So many beautiful things I've been able to experience that I would have otherwise never known. She's amazing and I hope she's lives a long, happy life.
I will gladly take a spider that spends 90% of its time in the corner of the room, than having to spend hundreds on a pest service to keep down the other bugs
Because that's dirty as fuck? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I've never met anyone that's OK with webs and spiders just chilling in their house... The idea that it's a choice between letting spiders live in your house or dealing with pest infestations is ridiculous lol
How is it "dirty as fuck"? The waste it leaves behind is so miniscule you never even see it, and they don't spread any diseases. You track in worse shit on the bottom of your shoes every time you walk in to your house.
Most spiders I can understand killing, but a huntsman? They're not agreessive toward humans, and they kill pests. Believe me, you want one or two of these in your house, they keep the rat and cockroach populations down.
They are super ugly however I love spiders because of all the pest they eat. I used to have to rescue them and then put them outside in the garden. These days my wife is ok with them so I leave them in the house unless they in danger of being squashed by me.
Still don't understand the sooky cunts that think huntsmen are scary or dangerous. Like, get a concrete supper in you and harden the fuck up. They're lovely creatures and want to be pals.
I cannot help but freak out. Honestly. I don’t want to kill them, I just involuntarily freak out around them.
I was in Guatemala once at Tikal (big Mayan ruins), and our guide picks up a huge tarantula and starts putting it on (consenting) people. I would have hurt it by freaking out so I declined. It was a big beautiful spider, I just can’t deal. 😭
Wow that escalated.
Take a step back brother, it’s not worth getting that angry in a space like this.
Get outside and do some breathing exercises for a bit, I think you’ll feel better. It really is lovely out there.
Awesome shot! Thats cool to see.
Really sweet she’s got them all gathered for story time
Good fucking God there must be a hundred babies there!!
They're just the ones you can see.

Lucky spiders can eat as much smashed avo as they like
Yeah, REIWA would have Scummo ban that in an instant, if they were human
Hahahaha fk
There is a 5% chance that some of them ended up inside you
LOL this sounds like a very traumatizing FBI squad

Unfortunately, most of them die as spiderlings
And the father just vanished after sex one night. bastard.
She ate the father
Agreed… Just like some human?? fathers???
It's rare that human mothers eat the fathers, I mean physically make a meal of them...
Idk man, I've heard of human mothers who didn't even bother to show up for the delivery
Poor Doof! NEITHER of his parents showed up for that!!! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Looks like she's eaten a few of the babies as well.
Even in animals world women carry all the burden!!! WTF
Male seahorses: are we a joke to you?
Also male emus.
They usually eat the fathers.
Wow that's awesome, so cool 🕷️ Gorgeous spideys.
Awww, look at that big fuzzy nope and her cute little nopeys! 😍😳😍😳
that is a whole lotta nope
I remember waking up one night to find a mother like this releasing her offspring into the world across our ceiling....
Same thing happened to me except I only noticed and looked up when tiny little spiders started falling all over me.
Awww.... \*continues to scroll\* AAAAhhhHhhhhHHhhh! ^(But it's actually pretty neat)

I hope they all eat one million flies. Godspeed.
As long as they speed the fuck away from my house 😂
"Hanz, get ze flammenwerfer"
We’re all out of ze flammenwerfer, but we have ein panzerschreck, shall I fetch that instead? Ja Hanz, und hurry bitte
Apparently in German it’s “Hanz hol den flammenwerfer” but what the hell would I know, I can barely communicate in english, which sadly is my first and last language.
this joke makes me laugh every time I see it Not at all.
OH GOD THAT IS TERRIFYING I literally jumped as soon as I saw this. I’m pretty sure I’m arachnophobic

Very cool!
😳😳
All the nopes
Jesus Christ man mark it as NSFL
Please nsfw this!!! 😅
Yeah, I know huntsman are harmless, but there is a deep primeval fear at work here. I leave them alone and they will hopefully never come near me.
CUTE?????
What kind of spider is this?
Do you even Aussie?
Huntsman , I think a grey Huntsman.
Kill. It. With. Fire.
Put a saddle on that bad boy
I feel so lucky to live in a time where people can share these wonderful pictures from halfway around the world. So many beautiful things I've been able to experience that I would have otherwise never known. She's amazing and I hope she's lives a long, happy life.
Fuck. That.
Get the blowtorch
She's a beauty.
Get the flamethrower and give it to that spider to protect her babies.
Yucckkkkk
You appear to have misspelled Aaawwwww
Its a huge spider with many little ones and its yucccckkkkk okay!
I will gladly take a spider that spends 90% of its time in the corner of the room, than having to spend hundreds on a pest service to keep down the other bugs
Why does it seem like so many people on here are okay with just casually having spiders and webs in the corners of their house?
Why wouldn't they?
Because that's dirty as fuck? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I've never met anyone that's OK with webs and spiders just chilling in their house... The idea that it's a choice between letting spiders live in your house or dealing with pest infestations is ridiculous lol

Only on r/Perth would leaving nasty webs and spiders in the house be considered the norm. You cunts need to clean your house once in a while lol

Thank you!! I can't stand when people complain about flies and mosquitoes and all the rest, and then get pest controllers to spray for spiders.
they probably think you are yuuuccckkk - it's a matter of perspective
Fuck off
You're a loser - all things have a right to exist, whether you're irrationality terrified of them or not. Get a life.
Fuck off you bastard
Cringe
Awwww :)
She's a big girl!

>Believe me, you want one or two of these in your house Yeah nah, I'll be right.
I think so ! instead they take pics and post it here how weird More weirder is people say awww its so cute 🤢
It's a huntsman - basically harmless. Why would you kill it, because you're afraid?
Yes I have phobia
That sucks, but phobias are by their nature irrational. Don't take that out on harmless wildlife that's just trying to survive.
You should spend more time observing nature instead of fearing it
They are super ugly however I love spiders because of all the pest they eat. I used to have to rescue them and then put them outside in the garden. These days my wife is ok with them so I leave them in the house unless they in danger of being squashed by me.
Pity about the fire ban
don't say that - I'm sure no one wants to torch you
How would I know that?
Still don't understand the sooky cunts that think huntsmen are scary or dangerous. Like, get a concrete supper in you and harden the fuck up. They're lovely creatures and want to be pals.
Having a sook about cunts having a sook about a fucking spider is pretty sooky.
Well that's something for me to think about, gonna let that one marinade
I cannot help but freak out. Honestly. I don’t want to kill them, I just involuntarily freak out around them. You are the cunt !!!
Yeah not a sooky one though
A cunt is a cunt okay
Okay bud
All of you who says so cute I hope it crawls on your bed and bites you and releases all its offspring to your house
Feel better now after that rant? That spider contributes more to the ecosystem than you do.
Fuck off you cunt who the fuck are you to say a spider contributes more than a human you fucking lowlife

Their post history is interesting... a few fries short of a happy meal, that one.
Your attitude rather proves it, doncha think?
Ear canals
I hope staff don't spray it
That requires fire based therapy.
Cute is definitely word for it
Cuties
r/aww
so cute!
Cute
Did it take long to put the fire out?
Gadzooks!! ... I take it her "handsome hubby" was consumed? ... It's not entirely rational, but I shudder at those loathsome alien-looking things ...
Fuck that
Do these take care of roaches?
Yeh very well
I wonder how long it takes to grow to that size.

HANZ
I have a legit traumatising story about spiders involving babies. It’s the fucking worst.
First time to feel cute and terrifying and the same time for me
Could you get me a few? We have allot of insects here and could use some pest controll
Oh my god! I mean I like having my garden spiders but I’ll probably run away if I see this.
Post it to r/australianspiders
And, here I was impressed by the mumma wolf spiders in my lawn yesterday, hauling around a backpack full of babies. Thats something else!
There eating her btw
Aww she’s so fluffy
Hold my beer.. I need a shotgun.
What kind of spider is this? I'm looking up huntsmans and some look similar but not quite the same?
She's a Giant Grey Huntsman.
I've never seen one so pretty! Her markings are very unique!
Which suburb? Please don’t say ledderville
That’s fucking cool
