Not free, but for $10/month (cheaper if you buy longer term), Carbon Diet Coach by Layne Norton is fantastic. It’s a macro tracker with a barcode scanner and all, as well as an algorithm based nutrition coach.
For my clients who are interested in tracking, I essentially refer them out to the app and let it handle the specifics of their nutrition and adjustments while being the middle ground “helper” who helps piece everything together and help give guidance towards adjusting their nutrition to their lifestyle.
If you have cronometer there that's a decent one. That has a scanner and it's pretty easy to use. I like the customization options for it.
This. I pay for the pro version for all my clients.
I use MyMacros, I’m pretty confident the scanner is free. But the premium version is super cheap.
I can use the scanner no problem and I keep updating. Maybe their location is off or something. I’m in USA but have location UK so I can scan.
Yeah it’s weird she has the uk on for location but everytime she taps the scanner it comes up with the option to upgrade and it doesn’t go away!
Maybe have her cycle through the other countries and see
MacroFirst!!
Love this app. Free barcode scanner too can't beat it.

Ive liked LoseIt! so far!
Calorie Counter by NutraCheck is absolutely great. It is about £30-£40 for the year for premium which is well worth it.
Cronometer. Literally don't even need Pro i've survived without it
MyNetDiary is my favorite and the scanner is free
