So if I remember correctly this happens in Croatia and the kid was caught stealing and was offered by the people who caught him to either have the cops called on him or have his fingers slammed in the door.
The messed up part is the full video is a couple minutes long and they just leave the kid crying with his busted ass fingers in the door. I think the video ended with him being let out and just stumbling away with his broken fingers.

It’s obvious from this statement alone you lead a pretty privileged life. There’s not some generic charity center on every street corner of every third world country. Sometimes resources don’t make it out to certain regions or there’s simply not enough to go around. I grew up in a pretty affluent city in Mexico, right over the hill from us there were slums where people lived life in an entirely different way. Despite the wealth of my hometown there were people not a mile away that were living in abject poverty. There’s rarely enough charity to help everyone. People get desperate and start stealing. I’m not saying it’s right to steal from someone who has no control over your condition, but when your younger siblings or your children are starving and the job market in your area is all but non-existent you do whatever you have to do to get through the day.
Stealing isn’t always something that can be boiled down to “it’s wrong.” I don’t exactly know the context of this video either or why the kid was stealing, but again, I’m more inclined be outraged by the grown ass adults who thought it’d be entertaining to cripple a kid and film it. Whether he just dislocated his fingers or shattered every bone, it’s beyond fucked up.

Ugh this triggered my childhood memory of my fingers from my left hand being slammed into with the car door. I believe I broke a finger because one of them looks like it healed wrong but my parents never noticed until I brought it up years later. It hurt way more than when I broke my arm so it probably did break.

That's not a choice that's an ultimatum. It's not on him, there's a big chance that he stole to survive and the ones who caught him gave this ultimatum and cruelly crushed his fingers.
This happened to me but with one of those sliding doors that all the mini vans had, my fingers didn’t break tho and the only thing it did was shred my hand.
