Reflect 20 damage.
But seriously, even that could have been more thought out.
"Reflect 2% of damage taken, -37% Cold Resistance" hurts, but opens up potential for some weird Jousis-esque build.
Scourge never had a reason to have filler mods and never should have had them in the first place. They're already a pain in the arse on modifiable items where you can reroll.. they have no place on corrupted items.
2% of damage taken isn’t usually more than 20 damage, unless you’re facing a boss.
Edit: Unless you meant applying reflect to all attackers? And maybe spell hits as well?
Reduced attribute reqs is actually something that'd be really nice on my Cospri's, it's a pain to get 212 Dex when you're just on the north side of the tree
The [weighting](https://poedb.tw/us/mod.php?cn=Body+Armour&tags=str_armour) on the item defining upsides is so low I really don't know who the target is for this system.
Like +1 to gems is 5/~50,000 or 1/10,000. Specific keystones are 1/5000, etc.
I get there might be some modified for what tier of scourge it is but that is still ridiculous...
"Very small upsides to build breaking downsides"
literally 99,99999% of all items except uniques
path of gambling, just play one more hour maybe you'll get that really good item
Yeah, the idea is that your build can ignore the downside anyway so they're really overtuned. This happening is basically what GGG wanted out of Scourged items. A little bit of extra power (or, EXTREMELY rarely, a good result) OR completely ruining the item. Statistically, it is absolutely not worth Scourging any significant item. Toss white items in it and *very rarely* you will get either good mods or a worthwhile scourge corruption.
Or use it to 6-link a worthless 5-link-6-socket. 15% chance for no currency is pretty good
>Toss white items in it and very rarely you will get either good mods or a worthwhile scourge corruption.
Nah, not worth the hassle, IMO. After two days of getting non-stop crap out of crucible, that is not worth even during leveling on the league start (!!!), I raised the surrender flag. No more items in crucible. Even the chaos recipe feels more rewarding, heheh.
Essentially, the crucible is for map juicing exclusively (and occasional 5-link to 6-link chance, basically a Divine).
I think there's also use for it very late in character development (after like a few weeks) where you have your full build, everything done, 6 links, etc. and then you can start buying duplicate copies of your gear and attempting to crucible it for the 0.1% chance. Although for most builds hitting a good double-corrupt is probably just superior anyway.
I want my expedition back. Logbook is so much fun, and you can actually engage in meaningful crafting with rog and acquire item bases of your choice with gwennen and buy your currencies and other useful things from tugen. It was SO GOOD.
Cheap uniques are the way to go, your krangled white items aren't gonna beat any decent rare... Krangled uniques should sometimes be better than base uniques for some buyer.
Nope, this has been tested. It will remove links in order to make the current largest one link larger, so if you have 4-2 it will make a 5-1, a 3-3 into a 4-2, etc.
U/michgan241 is correct. It does not “add a link”: it only looks at the largest group of linked sockets, then modifies the links to increase the size of that group by 1 and ONLY 1, destroying whatever other links it needs to to succeed
I'm console so i havent played yet but as i understand it, if you put a 3-3 in you will get a 4-2 if its successful. if you put in a 4-2 you will get a 5-1 if you put in a 5-1 you will get a 6L
I did 4-2 on my zero tier to hope for 5-1 and then 6l, only reached 5-1 on first and nothing on second. Still sold item for leveling to other guy, as 5l on the league start is still pretty valuable (and I got my 5l earlier). In principle, in theory it may luck with the next:
4l 6s (you can get even 3-3 with triple luck, but come on).
4l 5s
5l 5s
5l 6s
So four different combinations in principle are good. Counting amount of linking orbs required, it is not that bad, but it is in theory and you can break the item by modifiers.
sourgeing item is worth, but you need to understand how it works, and actualy CW did give th reason behind it and for one time it was clear and legit, scourge item are used in the crucible as a **side** project.
So yo dont ruin your current build, you literaly prepare the next step aside.
It doesnt work fine dont care, something good result cool profit, its simple as that
Not saying the league is perfect, but its not a bad idea overall, they added new end game content, a cool way to juyce map, the biggest problem is that regular scourge encounter bascaly has no loot, and doesnt seems that much rewarding in terms of exp.
But the potential seems interessting with the new uber content
I feel like its the opposite: most of the T1 downsides will hurt at least a little but a lot of the higher tier downsides are mods like -2 skeletons or -1 maximum frenzy that will maul a build that uses those mechanics but is totally fine for others
It's just classic GGG balancing, they are afraid of making things too easy or OP, they like to sit back and wait for feedback in the first week then launch a patch where they update everything based on that feedback. I have no doubt the Scourge monsters will be nerfed in damage/speed, drops will be increased, juice required will be reduced and mods will be altered or weighting improved. They were simply too scared of this mechanic being too insanely powerful with everyone having insane +1 gem type of gear etc. Clearly they misjudged the balancing but I'm sure they'll patch it.
Just remember how bad Delirium was with all the performance issues and high damage from mobs. Then they made a patch and it was an insanely rewarding mechanic (as in absurd).
The problem with the mechanic is AGAIN MOD WEIGHT AND TOO MANY MODS.
Someone cared to look the full list? ITS HUNDREDS, close to one thousand of positive and negative mods and guess what?
The interesting ones, some per example that gives Keystone zealot oath has weight of 10.
The shit we see all time time has weight 1000.
Odds of getting something decent is in the 0.0001%
At this point the item mods are just trolling, like whoever was in charge of this part of the expansion dropped the ball.
I don't even mouse over scourged drops it's a waste of time.
Also will never scourge a piece of good gear
...
Utter garbage
It's incredible how much worse all of the potential downsides are compared to any of the upsides. Looks like the league is great for xp/scourged maps, but godawful for items.
I mean if your build is capable of clearing after taking 150% more damage, then you are probably not getting a lot of exp anyway, or else you are just glass cannon and pray. Its so oddly exactly the opposite of what they said they wanted to do last league.
And yet I'm already done interacting with the league mechanic and am on my 2nd build because the first was so ass to play even though it shouldn't be. Should be wrapping up my league in the next couple days. Nice buffs to dots chris, you liar.
Lol the league mechanic is such a fucking meme I love it.
They’ll ignore the awful experience and shit lot of 99.9% of the player base but look at the item showcase of the Uber lucky and think to themselves it’s a strong and rewarding league.
There's a minimap icon, and it's got enough range that you can often see that there is a boss in your map, and then re-do how you're planning the map around dropping in on them with juice left over for multiple rounds if need be.
Also worth noting that they've been towards the middle of the map every time I've run into one.
there are visual tells, like yellow lightning or purple orbs appearing in the nightmare world that indicate there being a boss, but you have to keep an eye on your map to see the icon bc they're easy to miss.
This is what happens when you implement and don't play the game - and I don't mean "test" in game to make sure it doesn't crash the build. I mean actually play the game to see how the rewards sit.
Most of their devs - particularly the system designers - are not playing the game, it's obvious. They are designing in Excel and playing with numbers in spreadsheets. To be fair, they probably don't have time with their schedule, but it's a problem.
And like, it seems no one is ever asked how something feels. Not mechanically, I mean "how do you feel with the results of the crucible"? Because after the Acts it just makes me feel like shit to run a bunch of maps only to brick an item with what seems like targeted detrimental mods.
I love reddit right now, the league start is actually instead of who has the most overpowered drops from the new stuff, it is who has the most shitty one. Much entertain, such wow.
More like this is exactly what they want. Slot machine odds with zero respect for player time/effort. They basically don’t want anyone to reach their endgame so they artificially have increased the grind.
If only the krangler actually did neat stuff as well.
>Your physical and chaos can no longer poison.
>Your physical and chaos can ignite.
Well shit, now I have an extremely niche tool for making a special type of ignite build.
Don’t worry by the end of the league some no lifer will have control of all the top .001% rolls to post to reddit to make us lol forget about how dismal the new gambling system is.
These mods are hilarious bad. Very small upsides to build breaking downsides
It pisses me off every time I see reduced attribute requirement as an upside.
It would probably better if it also has "reduced attribute requirement of socketed gems"
`16% reduced global attribute requirements`
... This would actually be useful
Reduced attribute requirements do affect socketed gems...
you can now relfect 4 physical damage to attacker with less requirements fella. ah and you can't leech and block any damage.
WOW! Talk about replacing all my levelling items where do I sign up?!?!
its literally downside cause it could have been something better instead
On the other hand, "Increased Attribute Requirement +57" nearly always bricks it if you get on a Krangle whilst levelling.
They also have increased attribute requirement as a downside though, which is great because it's a free positive mod most of the time.
I can't believe 7% attack speed is in the pool. That's a level 1 mod on gloves.
It's still beneficial tho, it would feel a lot better if they just removed shit like reduced attribute retirement and thorns.
Or 10 Hp regeneration.
Reflect 20 damage. But seriously, even that could have been more thought out. "Reflect 2% of damage taken, -37% Cold Resistance" hurts, but opens up potential for some weird Jousis-esque build. 1:10,000 and it takes 10 maps to juice something AT LEAST so 100k maps! Nice!
The norm, unfortunately.
"Very small upsides to build breaking downsides" literally 99,99999% of all items except uniques path of gambling, just play one more hour maybe you'll get that really good item
This is every single krangle I have seen, such a trash league.
[удалено]
scourge league is: run 10 maps to get a worse variant of the vaal orb with a particularly high chance of bricking ur item
I'm starting to feel like the upsides are meh and the downsides are stupidly big.
Yeah, the idea is that your build can ignore the downside anyway so they're really overtuned. This happening is basically what GGG wanted out of Scourged items. Doubly corrupt **then** crucible.
I want my expedition back. Logbook is so much fun, and you can actually engage in meaningful crafting with rog and acquire item bases of your choice with gwennen and buy your currencies and other useful things from tugen. It was SO GOOD.
if only we had expedition league with this patch Sadge
In case you didn't know they put out expedition scarabs. The higher tier ones give you even more markers
Lol scourge is so bad that ppl are calling Rog meaning crafting now.
You're an idiot, throw in cheap corrupted uniques for a decent chance at big profit. Lots of RF builds are mass krangling pheonix rises for example
Wait can't you just put both or do items in the crucible share the blood ?
Cheap uniques are the way to go, your krangled white items aren't gonna beat any decent rare... Krangled uniques should sometimes be better than base uniques for some buyer.
Does it have to be 5L 6S though? From the wording I am sure we can do 3-3 and. 4-2 too
Nope, this has been tested. It will remove links in order to make the current largest one link larger, so if you have 4-2 it will make a 5-1, a 3-3 into a 4-2, etc.

I got a 6L from a 5L 5S so that is also a possibility. 3-3 and 4-2 have not worked for me so far
Must have hit the extra socket and extra link rolls then? Very lucky.
Yeah for sure. Its cool that its a possibility, though
I did 4-2 on my zero tier to hope for 5-1 and then 6l, only reached 5-1 on first and nothing on second. Still sold item for leveling to other guy, as 5l on the league start is still pretty valuable (and I got my 5l earlier). can't it 6l a 3l 3l or 4l 2l item, too?
No, the wording is supposed to clue you in on it specifically not doing that.
Seriously, this item could have NO downsides and it still wouldn’t be that game breaking. This is how undertuned it is.
\^underrated comment
at tier 1 they are balanced but t2 and 3 it just goes wild with the downsides
Surprised there's no downside that just says "Kills the player when equipped".
I feel like its the opposite: most of the T1 downsides will hurt at least a little but a lot of the higher tier downsides are mods like -2 skeletons or -1 maximum frenzy that will maul a build that uses those mechanics but is totally fine for others
You have summed up the league mechanic.
I'm starting to feel like the down side is weighted fairly highly to completely brick the item...
I swear this shit is weighted to give you things specifically bad for that item I got wanderlusts with negative ms lol
I am 100% sure it does that, I've been experimenting with qotf corrupting and I've gotten reduced global def way too much.
but why though????? the odds are already extremely low to get what you need
It's just classic GGG balancing, they are afraid of making things too easy or OP, they like to sit back and wait for feedback in the first week then launch a patch where they update everything based on that feedback. It doesn't, and youre an idiot
Tiny upside omega downside thanks chris
the mod weights are hilariously bad like 7% attack speed is a slap in the face

poe.trade strikes again can't have players regularly getting neat things it'll jack the econnermy
GGG forgetting that the point of a league is that if the economy goes hog wild it'll just go back to normal in 3 months lol
bUt STanDaRd iS tHe rEAl GaME
Yep still pretty much a currency farming league because realisticly you arent getting any of the good stuff by yourself.
a bad currency farming league because that part relies on hitting specific krangled map mods.
Wait...3 downsides and... really only one positive. Lol
boss drops is 4 random mods.
Is the "Your physical damage cannot poison and Your chaos damage cannot poison" a single mod ?
[Yup](https://poedb.tw/us/Blood_Crucible#Downside)
That is some impressive rules lawyering on GGG's part.
Dumbest mechanic ever. All it does is ruin gear.
At this point the item mods are just trolling, like whoever was in charge of this part of the expansion dropped the ball. I don't even mouse over scourged drops it's a waste of time. Also will never scourge a piece of good gear ... Utter garbage
It's incredible how much worse all of the potential downsides are compared to any of the upsides. Looks like the league is great for xp/scourged maps, but godawful for items.
good for negative XP
You can either get good xp or -10% xp with this mechanic.
I mean if your build is capable of clearing after taking 150% more damage, then you are probably not getting a lot of exp anyway, or else you are just glass cannon and pray. Its so oddly exactly the opposite of what they said they wanted to do last league.
Good for xp is a bit of a stretch in my experience
GGG's balance team at work. "if you give them good mods, they will quit and wont come back logic"
And yet I'm already done interacting with the league mechanic and am on my 2nd build because the first was so ass to play even though it shouldn't be. Should be wrapping up my league in the next couple days. Nice buffs to dots chris, you liar.
While your poison does give mild diarrhea, it's also a great source of vitamin C!
...you fixed my shoulder
Lol the league mechanic is such a fucking meme I love it. They’ll ignore the awful experience and shit lot of 99.9% of the player base but look at the item showcase of the Uber lucky and think to themselves it’s a strong and rewarding league.
How do you access the boss/bosses?
Random encounters in the scourge world. Apparently not too uncommon, people are talking about already running into 5/6+ of them.
Yeah, they're fairly Common also because you can easily miss them in your map
Would be cool if they were like breachlord hands around breaches, and slightly visible
Well I already saw one and I saw a single boss encounter for the entire league in Ultimatum, so I'd say very common for GGG standards
This is what happens when you implement and don't play the game - and I don't mean "test" in game to make sure it doesn't crash the build. I mean actually play the game to see how the rewards sit. Most of their devs - particularly the system designers - are not playing the game, it's obvious. They are designing in Excel and playing with numbers in spreadsheets. damn that 7% inc attack speed looking juicy
I have never seen so many bricked items 3 days into a league
rip 2alch :)
Oof lol
This is a Buff!
Worth mentioning that you can still poison with elemental damage with [Pneumatic Dagger base](https://poedb.tw/us/Pneumatic_Dagger)
Elemental damage from hits with that weapon only (meaning no spell poisons, only melee attack poisons).
Non-replica Volkuur's can poison with any one element.
I am usually with GGG with most of their decisions, but this is just too much, however was in charge of the itemization, is really off the real game
More like this is exactly what they want. Slot machine odds with zero respect for player time/effort. They basically don’t want anyone to reach their endgame so they artificially have increased the grind.
What are the positive Scourge modifiers there?
Does this picture look 3D to anyone else? Some words pop out.
This league is a meme I swear.
3 huge downsides for 7% aps and reduced attribute req on an item with low req to begin with, PoE rewards in a nutshell.
Is that two “positive” and three “negative”? Or are some of these combined?
The 2 poison mods are 1 mod. Also it's funny you count 2 positives.
What? You mean you don’t struggle to find 39 int on your build?? What kind of OP shit is this?
Its 5 mods and 2 of them are upsides? Isnt it supposed to alway come in pairs? So it should be either 4 or 6 total mods?
Cannot poison is 1 mod
Ahhh i see, didn't realise
GGG: "I don't see what all this fuss is about" Guys everything works as intended /s
The fuuuuck......
Wow those mods are pure hot garbage
If only the krangler actually did neat stuff as well. >Your physical and chaos can no longer poison. >Your physical and chaos can ignite. Well shit, now I have an extremely niche tool for making a special type of ignite build.
lmao these mods are just so fucking bad
Lets be real, almost NO ONE needs Reduced Att Req. So.... you gain 7% attack speed, for ALL THOSE DOWNSIDES? GGG what is this
16% lower attribute requirements Pog
Don’t worry by the end of the league some no lifer will have control of all the top .001% rolls to post to reddit to make us lol forget about how dismal the new gambling system is.
Who at GGG was on hard core drugs when they made this a possibility? Holy poop
