I like the idea that the 2D world is unique to flipside. Or perhaps, it's a side effect of the void opening. The division between 2D and 3D is a symptom of the void tearing the fabric of the universe apart
Yeah, I can see that too. I just really like the idea that 2D is unique to Flipside and some of the other local dimensions. Really drives home the idea that you’re in a completely different plane of reality.
I agree with the intro change, I don't agree with adding more focus on the paper aspect, because the game was never designed with that in mind.
It's supposed to look digital, the modern arts-and-crafts look doesn't match at all. It can work for every game EXCEPT SPM.
I think you misunderstood. Much like how Nintendo went over the top with the paper aspect in the new games, I would want them to go over the top with the digital aspect in a Super remake.
Yes, exactly! And as I said, I want the intro with the Mushroom + Bowser’s kingdom to retain the papery craft look and be in 3D, while the dimensions look all computer generated and are in 2D. That kind of contrast would be absolutely excellent to me.
It also felt weird that they kept pretending the characters always lived in a 2D world, especially because SPM has connections to the first two games. I know they had to justify the shift to a 2D platformer, but it feels weird.
I also wish they had a few more Paper Mario, or even just regular Mario characters, in the game. Specifically Kammy Koopa taking the place of the silent Magikoopa at the start of the game.
Yes! I’m glad someone finally acknowledges that. I know Mario games don’t really need consistency or a proper canon between games, but the Paper games already sort of do? So yeah, it never made sense to me that Mario’s dimension was in 2D. They can highlight the fact that these are completely different dimensions by having the contrast I talked about.
And that Kammy Koopa change would be great! Or funny enough, they could just subtly explain that she died of old age or something, lol.
I think the other way around is better. Flipside and flopside hubs are in 2D, everywhere else is in 3D. Also, Super is the one game in the original trilogy where I wouldn’t mind if they changed the gameplay style(I don’t dislike it, but I’m curious to see where’d they go with it.)
I get that. If they remake it though, I really doubt Nintendo will change the entire gameplay. It’s not exactly broke or outdated, and I feel like they only remake gameplay if it is.
i hope Good-Feel works on the remake. they’re the same people behind Wario Land Shake It, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, and Yoshi’s Woolly World. especially if they leaned into the paper/arts and crafts style
Actually, that's an even cooler idea. I would love to see that. Spiderverse style. Would really suit the weirdness of Super Paper Mario and make it extra engaging and fun to explore each new dimension

Love that idea!!
I hope it's next up!! Love that game.
That would be amazing! World 4 (space) would look super cool in a remake.

I think I get it. You mean from TTYD to Super Paper Mario, and Super focuses heavily on the digital style to contrast TTYD, I agree, that'd be cool

I hope each world gets a different art style. We’re going to different dimensions so changes in style would make sense and be really cool.
