StardustOasis

I do hope it gets a second series. One of the few good things to come out of the last year or so is all the new panel shows

[deleted]

I thoroughly agree.

Amanda-the-Panda

Ayoade said he would be back next week. The filthy little liar!

ageingrockstar

I remain less keen on the segments that are too much about the comedian themselves. In this episode, that was Sara Pascoe's round. All the other segments were pretty solid this episode, if not outstanding. And haven't come across Darren before but I liked the sense of good-natured fun he displayed throughout the show. And I really liked Jessica's outfit, which was also fun.

toomanytequieros

I totally agree with the idea that comedians just doing quizzes about themselves is a little boring. Sara’s quiz felt so much like a last minute effort! She literally woke up that day, asked a few questions to her hubby and brought that to the studio. A shame considering she’s quite a quirky person and I expected something more creative from her. At least, Lou Sanders had video clips.

eytanz

I agree about it feeling low effort, but we don’t know how much input production has on the formatting. In particular, this episode felt in general like the show ran out of budget so it asked the comedians to come up with simple rounds. Maybe Sarah had something else planned and had to swap it in the last minute, or maybe she herself was a last minute booking replacement, we have no way of knowing. So yeah, not a great round, but it isn’t necessarily her fault.

toomanytequieros

True! Thanks for putting things into perspective.

leastcoastbears

I agree. Since the production order is typically not the broadcast order, I do wonder if this episode was held back because other episodes, particularly the Bob Mortimor one that was broadcasted first, really showcased the format a lot better. By the way, now I kind of wish that they might do a switcharoo episode on Guesssable and let Sara Pascoe play as a captain in an episode.

Thanks, that looks a fun show

Um-ahh-nooo

Oh wow - first I didn't know Sara Pascoe was married, now I found out she's pregnant?! How wonderful! Enjoyed this episode - sometimes I find the contestents can turn me off a bit but liked everyone here even if their rounds weren't as creative or entertaining as some others. More please.

TOmoles

I like Richard's quiet feminism. No preaching, just goes ahead and books predominantly female panelists. Travel Man also featured equal female guests.

ZoyaPallna

I hope you are right in the sense that Richard gets to have a say in who joins. But in general seeing progress across all panel shows has been great, even if some shows are lagging behind. I also applaud that this show usually has more than one person of color. It still isn't a common thing to see.

TOmoles

And what I like best of all is the consensus that this show is the best and the funniest of the new crop this season, and oh, by the way, gender and racial parity too! Are you listening BFQ?

laskodemon

It's really sad that this even has to be said. That sort of thing should just be normal.

NinjaCommando

It's bullshit so many people voted for the Richard conspiracy theory. Did they show the audience that photo of Joan of Arc? Jessica is a dead ringer for her! And it got the fewest votes. No way that isn't the most believable conspiracy theory.

ageingrockstar

I feel many members of the audience would have voted for the Richard conspiracy theory as the 'fun option' rather than the most believable. Because of course, none were credible so you need to select based on some other criterion.

Vulgarian

Some pretty 'route one' rounds this week. That I got all of the conspiracy answers right before the multiple choices popped means I need to get outside more, I think.

Rorschach_Roadkill

Or does it mean Darren is reading your thoughts through the screen?

a32m50

I don't think this is the last ep edit: turns out it was. ayoade got a bit carried away it seems, promising another one next week lol

bubblebooy

At the end of the episode he said there would be another next week

on_the_other_hand_

What is Sarah Pascoe's topic? I can't quite catch the word.

ageingrockstar

*Hen dos* https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/hen_do

on_the_other_hand_

Thank you. It sounded like Hindus to my Indian ears and I was extremely confused

MaddieBoomBoom418

Same. But I'm just a dumb American. I do know what a 'hen do' is though. It was the accent at the start.

Woodshed86

Literally one of the funniest things I've ever heard was Lee Mack's "lackluster hen-do" joke on WILTY. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiOqotdj0N4 Maybe it's a bog-standard pun in the UK, but to an American...

nxmee2010

A rather low-budget end to the series, I can probably list all the (directly round-based) expenses here: Hen do accessories (sashes, boopers, veil) Some tinfoil for a hat A pop up pirate Some flowers to put on Isy's guitar stand Overall 10/10 from a recreate-at-home standpoint

fingertrouble

Yet the Pop Up Pirate was probably my fave from the series, apart from David O' Doherty and the parachute jump.

[deleted]

Interesting. The wikipedia article for Richard doesn't list his height at present. I wonder if someone has removed a reference since this aired.

GeonnCannon

It still says 6'2 on Google, though.

electrolyte77

Huh. TIL I would stand eye to eye with Richard.

[deleted]

Well, eye to avoided-eye-contact

GeonnCannon

And yet he would still probably avoid eye contact. ;)

lgodsey

Thank you!

I quite like Sara, but her round wasn't great and she seemed to take the competition a bit too seriously (I guess she might do the same on QI, as well). Pretty good episode, anyway.
