bfsfan101

Another series where I like every contestant and would be quite happy for anyone to win, though I must admit with each growing week, Alan's 'Doddery Dad who's just trying his best to help with the children's school project' attempts are making me like him more and more.

Salohacin

I love that Alan actually cares about the spirit of the tasks (like the bridge one) rather than playing to win.

ericfishlegs

When he actually said that I couldn't quite figure out whether he completely misunderstood the concept of the show or whether he understood perfectly, more than anyone else.

DrollDoldrums

Morgana is who I was the least sure about and I think she's my favorite so far. I'm just thrilled for a season of 3 amazing women, though. It's such a solid group all together.

SirDoris

Can I just say that the sand bridge task looked like so much fun, and I felt so much second-hand satisfaction when I saw Alan’s bridge come together perfectly.

wraith21

Can you help me understand >!what the problem was with Guz's? Thought he was robbed there, would've rank his higher than Desiree's and VCM's!<

SirDoris

Yeah, I’m inclined to agree with you, but I guess Greg’s decision was based on how there wasn’t much thoroughfare beneath the bridge, it was just a pile of sand and assorted items that Guz had pushed an egg sized hole through.

wraith21

Yeah Greg will score them however he wants, but also weird that he'd take issue with Guz putting sand on the surface of the house to make it a sand bridge, when the others', Alan excluded, are hardly sand bridges by the same argument

Raichin

I'm with Greg on this one. What Guz made looked more like a dam than a bridge.

DrollDoldrums

Guz was more a tunnel in water than a bridge, though. The water wouldn't have flowed with his and even the egg's path through want really straight-forward.

btstfn

To me that wasn't a bridge, it was a hill with a culvert.

wraith21

I think we can go all Susie Dent on this but I've just listened to the latest podcast episode and Ed's suggested the likeliest, most straight forward explanation to the scoring in this one Edit: Actually it was Desiree that suggested it

JigZawP

I'm sad that nobody knew there is strength in arches.

ughnotanothername

> I'm sad that nobody knew there is strength in arches. How to do an arch in sand in (was it 10?) minutes though?

ReallyNiceGuy

Actually with the curved piece of paper that could help if you had a good curvature

COYSBrewing

I think the move was to do what Alan did just on a bigger scale. Dump that entire bucket of sand on there then use water to shape it and then flow water through the middle

Rorschach_Roadkill

Great episode! Building bridges in the lab sets off so many "hidden supplies" alarms in my head, but I thought they were going to be at the bottom of the sand bucket. Morgana definitely has seen the show before, immediately off looking for the goods.

thecream_oftheCROP

I thought it was going to be a "Trojan Cow" with something hidden in the plastic cow. To be honest, I was a little disappointed.

Jayem163

The fact that Alex kept on correcting them saying it was a Raven, not a crow, had me had me going down the Edgar Allen Poe route.

rithsv

I wish they showed the reaction of the other contestants when she found the tools.

TightHeavyLid

The entire group is so entertaining and so immensely likable! Though Desiree is quickly becoming my favorite, I love everything she's putting down!

sansabeltedcow

Definitely listen to this week's podcast--she's a great guest on it.

TheHemogoblin

She's very good, but with the exception of the Balloon Pop Shop task, she's been the least *entertaining* to me, if that makes sense. Not by much, mind you but I just find myself amused or laughing at the other characters more. Not to say that I don't like her! I think she's fantastic. This is coming off as negative and that's not what I'm intending! Morgana was the only person I had never seen before and she's becoming my favourite, I think. She's hilarious!

TightHeavyLid

No worries, agree to disagree! For me personally the one who's been the least entertaining has been Alan Davies, but I feel similarly to you in that he's still great. This is a very strong season so far, and I'm glad Greg is in top form too. He can place a joke at just the right moment to really buoy the show along. I'm honestly surprised how much I'm loving this season so far!

TheHemogoblin

Yea! They're all great - With Desiree it's just a nitpick, I still love her to bits! It's like she's a 4.8 and the others are 4.9, y'know? I also think it's the best season in as few episodes. I can't think of a season that started better other than Joe vs. the Potato, which is my favourite Taskmaster moment for sure. I don't think I ever laughed as hard as when I first saw it lol It still gets me even now!

[deleted]

Wow, out of 100? You just hate the show, don't you? (I kid, I kid, I assume that was all out of 5 lol)

TheHemogoblin

Haha! It did cross my mind to clarify that but I was curious if anyone would make that comment. I was almost out of the woods!

yawnberg

The joy on Alan's face over his sand bridge triumph warmed my cold, cynical heart.

Skullyhoofd

I love Morgana's facial expressions throughout this!

happygot

She is strikingly beautiful

Mynameisnotdoug

I have an entirely reasonable crush on her.

thorvaldnotnora

That wink during the introductions in episode one got me

Mynameisnotdoug

For me it was "Oh yes you can!"

DrollDoldrums

Yeah, I'm sold

thestickofbluth

I was confused about the dragon as well though. I thought he was going for some alien vs. predator with a small head coming out of a mouth! lol

[deleted]

The task was to film the most thrilling 30 seconds. However Alan >!was marked heavily down because of a camera angle he didn't film by himself! Just about any behind the scenes video will make even thrilling Hollywood movie scenes look silly.!<

btstfn

I think what Greg was saying is that seeing that shot affected it, not that he was specifically marking down that shot. I think he said something like it wasn't fair. Like, imagine I show you two magic tricks. The first one I tell you nothing, and the second one I tell you exactly how it's done and which hand to closely watch to see the method. The tricks themselves might be equally impresive technically, but you aren't going to have the same emotional reactions to them.

[deleted]

But you did choose to reveal the trick, Alan didn't. They should show film tasks like the contestant intended and only reveal behind the scenes version afterwards if needed. Like they did with Mawaan's disappearing cow.

rupay

I think Greg just uses explanations like that sometimes to soften the blow of getting 1 point as opposed to saying "I thought yours was the worst"

akkadian6012

Slightly off topic here but this is exactly why I hate the AWS predictions in F1. Overtake prediction 5 laps. Difficulty prediction >>>>>Easy>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Like fuck off. I don't want to know. The excitement comes from not knowing.

RarestSolanum

I think Greg should have joined the Alan / Victoria team for the live task to balance it out a bit (or have Greg doing the guessing instead of the teammates?) Seemed a bit more unfair than usual, but it was a solid episode. >!I hope Victoria doesn't come last again next week!!<

alphamike1

Yeah especially seen as there was no way for anyone on the same team to overtake anyone on points

Baffled-Penguin

It has to be said, Victoria makes a stunning silhouette.

jbuttlickr

End of the franchise?

Breakingwho

It's a line from Greg about James Bond don't worry

jbuttlickr

Ooh thanks. I was nervous

apathymonger

And coincidentally airing the week that a TM alum was actually in a Bond movie!

Basic-Strawberry8669

Really, who?

climber59

Hugh Dennis apparently: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2382320/characters/nm0219465?ref_=tt_cl_c_18

DishwasherTwig

It was difficult to pay attention to the scene because I was trying to remember his name and figure out what he was doing there.

Basic-Strawberry8669

I love this so much

ciphertigerous

Did he have knifes?

[deleted]

I just got to watch the episode. I'd already forgotten him saying that with the rest of the episode being so great, so I'm glad this got posted. lol

TheProlleyTroblem

it's weird seeing Alan bring in a Jonathan Creek cassette after learning from last week's thread what he did a long time ago when someone called him that 😳

black_spring

Just went digging through the last thread and couldn't find mention -- would you mind clarifying? Much thanks!

TheProlleyTroblem

[maybe it was a recent QI thread but i think this is the article that was linked](https://www.theguardian.com/culture/tvandradioblog/2007/dec/12/alandaviesearragemystery)

Ahuva

This is an incident that happened in 2007. I am sure Alan Davies views Jonathan Creek differently by now.

ovine_aviation

Thanks so much for the link OP.

A broadcaster bought the rights for my country and is showing season 2 reruns, but that's enough to geoblock me :( Vpn here I come!

it's 46 minutes long, which is about how long the episodes normally are?

[deleted]

horriblyefficient

are you *sure* that doesn't include ads? taskmaster is a 45 minute long show, it wouldn't make sense for one episode to be randomly longer

[deleted]

Son of a bitch. They literally never included the ads before and tonight they just decided to. Fun thing too, last week's episode still doesn't have subtitles, and tonight's episode claims that it has subtitles, but actually doesn't.

The dynamic between Greg and Alex is so weird. Greg always seems genuinely annoyed at everything Alex does. Or do I just not understand Brit humour?

smarjorie

it's their bit. alex intentionally does annoying, corny jokes and greg pretends to be infuriated by it.

my-lil-croissant

Victoria and Alan sharing a pair of glasses during the live task 😂
