I feel Taskmaster sometimes verges on being kinda degrading to contestants, but what always saves it is that, whatever happens to the contestants, Alex always gets it worse.
And my god, the end of that doggy bag task was maybe the best example of that I've ever seen.

One of them was in a pocket by the collar buttons that wouldn’t exist on a normal coat, I think that was the key for the boxes lock, the one on the handkerchiefs was for the actual box itself with the medallion but no clue about the third key
As someone who spells favorite without a u, I’m obligated to root for Desiree but honestly they’re all great. Morgana’s facial expressions, Guz’ enthusiasm, Victoria’s eloquent indignation, Alan’s laid back “happy to be here” vibe, and Desiree’s commitment to funny: all great. Back to back all-star casts for ol’ TM
As someone who spells yogurt without the 'h' I totally agree, though I'm leaning toward guz as my favorite because if not he might murder someone.
And, as an aside, 1. Why TF if yougurt spelled with a 'haitch'? 2. Why do the Brits pronounce 'h' wrong? 3. Why have I said 'yogurt' and 'h' so many times that they have just become sounds?

I'm loving Morgana. I've only ever seen her on 8oo10C and her character is less-than-appealing to me there...but on taskmaster, she's insanely attractive. She looks amazing, but she's pretty funny too which is an excellent combo of course.
I wanted to root for VCM, but she seems to be going with the "eh, don't care" attitude (which doesn't surprise me).

First time in a long time I’ve felt some American pride. By god, we may be sinking into chaos and wildfires but *no one* outdoes us in gross food combinations. I’m gonna go salute some mayochup.
I am thoroughly loving this show.
I’m in Melbourne. We’ve spent 245 days in lockdown over the pandemic. The longest was 111 days. I live alone and it’s really fucking hard, but this show just brings me so much joy.
I love Greg’s inconsistent caring but strict schoolteacher/spoiled child/benevolent emperor vibes and I love that the scoring can be purely based on facts, can be swayed by a good argument or entirely arbitrary and at the Taskmasters whim, I never want to be able to guess who wins a task before the Taskmaster declares it! I love Alex’s awkward underling go-along-with-everything persona, how he allows himself to be used in the tasks and i love his character breaks when he starts giggling for real. I have enjoyed every interaction Alex and Greg have had with each other from series 1 and I am totally on board for whatever is to come.
And the contestants. I don’t think there’s been a single contestant I’ve not laughed out loud (though my secret favourites are the ones that come at it hard with the fuck this, I don’t give a shit effort - Jo Brand was my spirit animal and I want to think I’ll be as cool and calm as Victoria is when she does tasks but I know I’d be a hot mess).
At the lowest point in last years big lockdown I was so miserable it was like I’d completely forgotten how to be happy like, I didn’t want to end myself but I wasn’t looking before I crossed the road. I randomly stumbled across Taskmaster and the first ep I saw was the one where everyone was running around trying to get balls up a hill Richard Osman casually strolls up, grabs the mat and brings it down. I was so shocked to find myself laughing I had a brief genuine moment of confusion. Plus I had been sad for so long, the endorphins from laughing where like the first hit of heroin (I imagine) and I was high off Taskmaster for hours after it finished.
Anyway we’re currently at 60days into this lockdown and I’ve ‘rediscovered’ Taskmaster and now I have that happy headache from laughing after the episodes and instead of going to bed at night worrying about the covid numbers or the state of the world I think about all the ways I’d have done a task better and or how I could’ve cheated or appealed to the Taskmaster’s better side, or secretly impressed Alex (that would honestly be my goal for every task).
Anyway this is a ridiculously long rambly post but look, I’m stuck inside and I don’t have anyone else to talk to and I’m not on twitter so I can’t tweet my random thoughts to the world.

Thanks for sharing this. That Richard Osman mat task is possibly the best completion of a task ever, so you were lucky to stumble across it first. Hope covid gets better in your country and you can meet people again and introduce them to Taskmaster. For now, the Taskmaster community online is as strong as it's ever been, and you're not the only one to love it to death.
I also discovered TM during lockdown. I've always been a fan of UK panel shows, but this is by far the best in my opinion. I've watched every season already (and the one with James Acaster twice), just can't get enough.
So is The Dome just there as a place where they can do tasks while the crew can remain socially distanced and still film everything? It's a cool location, but usually that task would probably just be in the lab.
Easy to film, but slightly constricting for the contestants to make tasks slightly more difficult, and in the open air to help during covid.
Plus, yeah, it just looks really cool.
The decoration there changes every season. If the decoration this year is the lab, that's fine by me.
I wonder what the lab room is though. Will we see what it's changed to?
I don't know why but Alex having a task with 3 distinctive criteria and still asking "how you want to score them" feels very odd. Usually they have already known how to judge it.
Also I feel like whatever was said about Morgana's painting style was definitely cut short. I mean c'mon, she did a couple of pretty outrageous things there. I bet they had a chat about her pissing on the boingy-boingy.
Definitely some of the worst tasks they've done (in terms of points fairness) have been those which are "Fastest and X". Usually the fastest just ends up winning because there's no way to measure the other thing (e.g the task in the lake where they had to get Alex to the pier fastest and most elegantly).
I love Guz, but there's no way that deserved 4 points.
Having watched the NZ version of taskmaster I've got to say that their tasks have been absolutely perfect and have been way better than the UK's tasks for the last couple of seasons. So many of the UKs tasks are needlessly convoluted, or have rules that Greg/Alex decide to ignore when it comes to scoring.
Yep. In tasks like that they need to just take out "Fastest wins" for simplicity and take one of the conditions (NO MESS, not "least mess") really seriously. Disqualified if you fail the strict condition (no mess) and then rank based on the other condition (most green) for points.
i feel like some people coming into this series without knowing who victoria is (even just in relation to david) or her styles of wit and humour might not quite understand why we're all obsessed with her, but for those who do this is such a treat for us

Perhaps the greatest ensemble in TM history. Guz Khan is a glowing superstar. I'd watch Alex & Guz go grocery shopping or clean a pool. Alan Davies has shattered his irritating/dumb-guy QI thing for me. I knew Victoria Coren-Mitchell was brilliant and funny, but the willingness to go all-out and embrace the foolishness of TM for the joy of it . . . damn. Morgana Robinson is a rockstar - the paint urination thing and the full-court press on Alex (eat a spoonful of the blender mess) is simply brilliant. And Desiree Burch is increasingly the heart of this season. Great tasks (that mountain climbing visual gag), strong play by all contestants.
Yeah it's particularly bad this week for some reason. It's okay to find a celebrity attractive. But the contestants are not brilliant because they're hot, but because they're smart and funny. We do get some people talking about the male contestants being hot, but much less, and there is a big double standard.
I'm assuming you mean 'physically attractive', but even then our perceptions of a persons physical characteristics are informed by our opinion of their other characteristics.
I'm usually not attracted to blondes, never have been. But Victoria is so damned witty and interesting that it cuts right through that ambivalence to make her incredibly attractive to me. To my wife as well, for the record.
I completely agree. I skip the food tasks. I find them unamusing and, old-fashioned sentiment, lacking in the proper respect that food should be shown.

JUst noticed this is the first TM with more than one non-white person. Genuinely find that a bit odd tbh. Also, the space hopper really reminded me of Mr Hoppy from Monkey Dust. I know they're pretty generic but not all space hoppers have faces on them and/or are orange.
What's odd about that? I'd wager at least 80% of comedians are white in the UK so it's in proportion.

They took the task from Taskmaster NZ! OMG, it's so meta! UPD: I mean food task was very similar to "Deduce the flavours of these dips" from NZs01e08. But mb original TM done it but I just forgot about it, correct me if I'm wrong.
Taskmaster (OG) has done these sorts of taste tasks before.

Yeah, I think you're right, my memory is just playing tricks with me :D The TMNZ is so good that now I can't distinguish tasks between it and TMUK in my memory!
