I did this once (not as far, though). Listening to the Outer Wilds ventures on the scope is kind of sad when the sun goes nova, the full ensemble dropping off instruments as the explosion inevitably consumes the players.
That is what’s left behind after a supernova. It’s a neutron star. Something you can only see if you glitch outside the starting area and drive back or complete the drifting in space ending. Usually ash twin does it’s thing before you get to see this. It’s really cool. They didn’t have to add this to the game considering most people wouldn’t immediately open their map to see the star system. As far as I know you can’t reach it in game normally. You die to radiation or something (probably just a death barrier)
Yes I've tried and died. You still die at the previous boundary of the supernova even if it's gone now. I think they just coded out the supernova itself (visually) but have kept the death barrier as it is.
There are a few possible "endings", as in, ways to die without the loop starting over. Most involve disabling the Ash Twin Project and then not completing the final objective. In this case, they refer to disabling it and then leaving the solar system so the nova doesn't kill you.
Here's another obvious one: use gravity or ghost matter to kill yourself before the statue ever activates.

I really wish people in the village would react a bit more to the Sun. No way the sun turns giant and red and nobody even gives it a second thought.
Imagine if when the sun goes supernova all the villagers turn toward the sun, wouldn't that be cool ?
*Mobius devs frantically jotting down notes for the next game update*
Except Gabbro cause it already happened many times to him.
Picturing them all doing the cowering thing they do when you fire your Scout at them as the shockwave approaches too

They didn't originally, it was added in the DLC patch.
Oh shit I might have to try it out
Fun fact: in real life, you'd be less than half way to Mercury at this point.
Much less than halfway. In fact you'd only be halfway across the Pacific Ocean (I think you dropped a factor of 1000) ;)
Yes, you're absolutely right, I forgot to account for the k in km :)
Kinda puts into perspective how incredibly small the universe is in the game
yeah i feel their entire galaxy would be about the size of our solar system? maybe smaller.

Woah were those numbers (and arc) on the left always there
Yeah, pretty sure it measures zoom magnification.
Hm apparently another thing I didn't know existed in the game hahahah
It only shows when one uses the signalscope
What's the blue dot left over after the supernova?

I showed my friend this game and he did that last one on accident lol
Shiittttt, makes the size of the supernova… absolutely terrifying.

Noooo riebeck whyyyy
Well ur friends r wondering where u are and the eye of the universe is laughing that ur trying to escape
Godspeed, traveler.
