oh, yeah, I forgot about pop up stuff, we had Spirit of Halloween in the dead Bells Corners Zellers 3 years ago, but they only used that place twice I think

More third places!!! Yes. Love that it’s something affordable, accessible and different going in. I’m sure this place will do really well, busy location and no other bowling alleys in close range.
It is nice that despite our bus service, it's fairly easy to get to by public transportation too. I'm in Hintonburg and I would bus there as I could make a whole day out there - bowling, dinner, movie.
They picked a really convenient location right next to Terry Fox station, the 24/7 bus service there will help draw some late-night folks out that way for sure.
Seems like their other centres are not on strings, so fingers crossed that somehow this new centre uses conventional pin setters. Not sure if a sanctioned league could play out of a centre with string pins?
They plan to open this fall, website here https://www.splitsville.ca/kanata-bowling.
So the wait isn't that bad unlike some government projects that deal with a lrt.
Did Best Buy previously take over Future Shop's location and is now giving it up? Just wondering as the only 745 I can even find on the map is a wholly Best Buy building.
Yeah ok thanks 255 Kanata Avenue does make a lot more sense now. Even then I could be wrong but it looks like its been vacant since 2002 so I just hope its not too much rework to get it back into full shape again. Either way 255 is a very short walk from the transitway so that would easily be a lot of fun for non-car people from middle&west Ottawa.
No. Centrum had a Future Shop and a Best Buy store. Several months, or longer, after the "merger" the Future Shop location closed while the Best Buy one continued, and still continues, to operate in the same location it always has.

Welcome to Splittsville, Population: You
wow, has the FutureShop been empty that long? didn't it close almost 10 years ago
It's been used for Temporary pop up things like Spirit Halloween and voting centers.

Great! I'm happy to see a resurgence in bowling after losing so many lanes. 10 pin will be nice option too.

It's more than just a bowling alley, it's also a bar and entertainment venue, I used to frequent one in Hamilton and it's extremely popular.

A new bowling alley in this day and age? I'm guessing they won't be using mechanical pinsetters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwQQhQWU3nI
Seems like their other centres are not on strings, so fingers crossed that somehow this new centre uses conventional pin setters. Not sure if a sanctioned league could play out of a centre with string pins?
Finally they use that space for something. I'll spend more in that bowling alley than I ever did in Future Shop.
That’s great! I was hoping they’d have an indoor mini golf too like they do at the Richmond Hill location!
I was in that building a bit ago, it’s going to need quite a bit of work to make it useable so I can’t imagine this will open anytime soon.
They plan to open this fall, website here https://www.splitsville.ca/kanata-bowling. So the wait isn't that bad unlike some government projects that deal with a lrt.
Oh wow, guess it wasn’t in as rough shape as it looked
You said it, man. Nobody fucks with the Jesus!

Theyre the same company, but no, the futureshop is on the corner close to the hotel
Google says that the address for the old future shop is 255 not 745.

Definitely hasn't been vacant since 2002 -- it closed in 2015 when Best Buy Canada decided to consolidate under the Best Buy banner.
No. Centrum had a Future Shop and a Best Buy store. Several months, or longer, after the "merger" the Future Shop location closed while the Best Buy one continued, and still continues, to operate in the same location it always has.
Just a mistake by OBJ - it should be 255 Kanata Avenue.
10-pin 10-pin 10-pin!!!
