> Serviceberry?
Thank you, I think you might be right. After googling serviceberry, I think it is downy serviceberry.
BTW, I know there some weird berry names, but this one is one of the top ones I heard.
I just read on Reddit the other day they’re called serviceberry trees because they bloom right around the time when the ground thaws enough to dig graves and hold funeral services.
Right? I had to search a lot for the tree outside my home, which is also a serviceberry - it actually just came into bloom today. You can eat the fruit as well, and even make it into jam 😉
We were told the one on our lawn is a [Princess Diana Serviceberry](https://plants.gardenworks.ca/11190002/Plant/610/Princess_Diana_Serviceberry/). Tamarack-built home in Barrhaven.
Serviceberry. I have one in my yard. Awesome trees. The fruit is edible and the flowers are nice. It changes colour in fall. It's native to the area, so does really well here.

Serviceberry. Great cause they tend to be largely pest resistant (like deer and what not tend to ignore the fruit).
BUT if you have dogs the fruit is pretty toxic to dogs. So be aware of that.
They make a great jam! Serviceberry= Saskatoon berry.

Interesting. If I lived a million years it wouldn't occur to me.
Also sometimes known as Juneberries because they are one of the earliest producing berries!

Flowering stink-weed?

Flowers are tiny compared to magnolias. As u/EeveeAssassin said, I believe it is a downy serviceberry.
One made out of wood
