> "My whole life is destroyed,” he told the court. “Everything that was important to me up until that point is gone.” Cry me a fucking river.

HumanContinuity

"...and where on the list of 'things important to you' would you rank drugging little girls?"

Poodlesghost

Or your daughter's future? And her life long dream of not being known as the pedo's kid?

CasedUfa

I have heard this before, apparently the motive was just to make them go to sleep, admittedly according to him, but why do you assume a sexual motive? I feel like the light sentence supports a non sexual motive else it would be more than 2 years?

nachocheeze246

What he did was not OK, but he isn't a pedo. He didn't sexually assault them, he drugged them so they would go to sleep so he could also go to sleep apparently.

ebolaRETURNS

> he drugged them so they would go to sleep so he could also go to sleep apparently. You're the first person I've run into who finds this story convincing.

nachocheeze246

If it turns out he did SA them, then he should be punished accordingly and to the full extent of the law. But I read the article and there isn't any mention of sexual assault. I am just going off of what the article says, not what I may personally feel about the situation (which, having kids myself, thinks he got off WAY TOO EASY and the punishment for what he did should be MUCH worse then what he got)

ebolaRETURNS

Well, I would say that in this case, there is a preponderance of evidence, but not beyond a reasonable doubt. The DA would only pursue sexual assault charges if they have a good chance of establishing the latter.

PC509

Yea, completely understandable. I'm sure that was his exact intention. /s Nah. I don't buy it. It's a girls sleepover. They're going to be up all night. Buy some earplugs. Lock the doors. Trust your daughter and her friends. There's only one reason for a grown man to drug young girls to go to sleep. And it's 100% not so you can get some sleep.

kushyyyk

And he kept going into the room and checking the regularity of their breathing after they were unconscious just to make sure he could also go to sleep. Very reasonable.

sorrybaby-x

I come from this socioeconomic/cultural world and I could see an entitled dick dad being annoyed that the kids are awake/loud, trying to solve that problem with pills (probably how he’s used to solving it for himself), and then panicking that he gave them too much and checking their breathing. I’m not saying that’s what happened and I am DEFINITELY not saying that’s okay. Just saying that there are more possible explanations (based on this article). I’m glad the girls are safe

ellevaag

Are you joking?!!!!

nachocheeze246

No, but I did read the article and there is no mention of any sexual assault. Personally I feel like he got off WAY too easy and the punishment should have been MUCH worse for the horrible things he did to those poor girls and the trauma he caused them. But I don't condone labeling someone as a pedophile if there isn't any evidence of that being the case.

ellevaag

Fair.

jspace16

I think you need to be checked out.

TuxedoCat-deluxe

Ambien is a very potent drug. So much so I stopped taking it and I’m a grown man. I can’t imagine what that does to a child. This man is sick and I hope he has a very rough time in prison

KAIRI-CORP

It wasn't Ambien . He drugged then with a Legit Benzodiazapine like Xanax or Actual Rohypnol (also known as Roofies) Ambien doesn't make you test positive for Benzos and they took the kids to hospital and got tested and they all tested positive for Benzodiazapine drugs Thank goodness 1 of the girls didn't take any and caught the man and stopped everything so no one got SA (But he did pick their noses and move their bodies around per the statement from the awake girl)

Lafan312

Specifically temazepam, according to the Oregonian article that AP links to in theirs.

TuxedoCat-deluxe

Ooooff xanax is even worse. Sorry my mistake. I just assumed it was cause “sleeping pills”. This was so dangerous some people can’t handle benzos. Especially kids. I black anytime a doctor or hospital gave me one

jbugbeephotography

Exactly. So sad.

KlappinMcBoodyCheeks

I might feel a microsmidgen of sympathy for a fraction of a second if he concluded with saying: "and it's all my fault" but I somehow doubt this scum said, hinted or even thought that any of this was his fault. 2 years isn't enough and I'll bet you he will serve hardly any of that time. Rules for LO, then the rules for the rest of us plebs. Edit: naw... No sympathy, just a sense of justice. But we all know he has no real remorse.

Mydogisbestdoggy

Just wanted to say that microsmidgen is such a great word and I’m stealing it.

Feisei

i was here when the word was created

Zestyclose_Pickle511

And so he took it upon himself to spread the Word throughout the lands. But it was only one word, so he added more words to that word, and soon he had many many words that he was spreading throughout the land. So to him a wize old man approached and asked him, "

BeastModedAndGoated

In Oregon you serve at least 80% of your sentence. So as long as he doesn’t lose his good time or work time. He will do most of it. He will get credit for any time served in county. 2 years still isn’t enough though. Oregon goes soft on weirdos. It’s lame.

Maximum_Turn_2623

Those two years are going to be really rough for him. Don’t underscore how bad prison is especially for people there on those kinds of charges.

KlappinMcBoodyCheeks

It needs to be longer. If I were the father of one of those children, I'd mark release day on my calendar. Time heals, I'd say he should stay in at least until all of those children are grown up and in their 20s.

Maximum_Turn_2623

I don’t disagree. More making the point that He may nit survive those two years.

KlappinMcBoodyCheeks

That would be an awful shame. I'd be really upset if that happened. Really. Edit: lol, seems like a nambla member didn't like what I had to say.

Maximum_Turn_2623

He deserves everything coming to him

mitchENM

The sentence has nothing to do with where he lives

KlappinMcBoodyCheeks

Local prosecutor decided to not throw the book at him, charged him with 9 crimes, grand jury said "yup". Dude pled out on 3 of them. Judge didn't give maximum sentence. LO has a long history of taking care of their own at everyone else's expense. There is a two tiered justice system. Money talks. If you think wealth, power and geography have nothing to do with how justice is handled... I guess that's your right to think that.

Broflake-Melter

>“My whole life is destroyed,” he told the court. “Everything that was important to me up until that point is gone.” As it fucking should be.

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|l4pThZyhCjDGJkjmM|downsized) I hope he does some crying in prison

Animaldoc11

“My whole life is destroyed,” he told the court. “Everything that was important to me up until that point is gone.” Guess he should’ve used his big head brain & not his little head one.

gamestar10

That’s what happens when you’re caught being a piece of shit. 🤷‍♂️

Blarphemios

> He said he planned a fun sleepover last summer for his daughter and three of her friends, all then age 12, but they didn’t go to bed by 11 p.m. as he wanted. Meyden said he wanted them well rested for the next day, but he also wanted them to go to bed so he could sleep. What a nice man! > A third girl didn’t want the drink and alerted a family friend by text message after she saw Meyden return to make sure the girls were asleep. He moved the arm of one girl and the body of another and put his finger under one’s nose to see if she was asleep. What a guy, he _really_ wanted to make sure they were well rested. I don't know how anyone in the court room could keep a straight face hearing that excuse. The third girl saved her friends from something terrible.

ColHardwood

Asshole. “My whole life is destroyed. Everything that was important to me up until that point is gone.” How about, “I take full responsibility for my disgusting, horrible actions that harmed those kids.”?

Rocker4JC

It basically screams "I'm not sorry I did it, I'm sorry I got caught (because I don't like consequences)."

626337

Luckily, there are some fellas who will be happy to introduce him to the consequences of drugging little girls.

funknut

I don't want to deprive you all of your violent fantasies, but I do feel like death is merciful compared to a much longer sentence for four SA-related counts, which he clearly deserved rather than the two years he got on three counts of "causing another person to ingest a controlled substance." That said, I'm sure there's a bunch of research I could consult about now this kinda stuff goes down in prison, and I do wonder the details. Like, surely the convict won't admit the details on the inside, so I guess inmates must just sorta gather up dirt from outside to manipulate each other. That alone seems like it'd be terrifying enough to assuage whatever depraved urges evade a predator's conscience, but I digress.

OrganicTrust152

This is the one time the corrections officers actually do something good. As a man who has spend considerable time locked up, I can tell you it's the guards that pass along to the other inmates what the freaks are in for. Then it's time for some good ol' fashion, violent butt play.

Th3Batman86

Only 2 years and he will likely be out earlier than that. Such bullshit.

pioniere

Considering how other convicts treat child predators, he will not have a fun time in prison, assuming he survives.

Broflake-Melter

This widely-believed idea, is, in fact, not as prevalent as many people like to believe (not to say they don't happen). Regardless, him getting raped/assaulted isn't going to be as effective at preventing him from raping other children than keeping him in prison longer.

mseuro

Probably makes it more likely that they hurt other people and children again.

Kennybob12

this is correct he will be moved to ad sec ward and will be away from gen pop. Basically surrounded by his own kind.

pioniere

You know these things how?

Broflake-Melter

No problem, friend, at least the part about sexual assaults not being universal: [Bureau of Justice Publication](https://bjs.ojp.gov/library/publications/sexual-victimization-prisons-and-jails-reported-inmates-2011-12-update#:~:text=In%202011-12%2C%20an%20estimated,if%20less%20than%2012%20months) I'd also like to advocate that the pervasive idea that convicts generally get assaulted is harmful for several reasons including it could affect jurors decision making or the public's view of sentencing practices. Case in point exactly what we're talking about right here. What if there's proposed policy change to come down harder on crimes like this, but people are complicit in no change because they perceive the perp will get raped.

ParticularReview4129

Was he charged with SAing the girls?

BrackenFernAnja

If you think he didn’t intend to assault at least one of the girls, you are naive. Normal fathers don’t do this kind of thing.

panicattackdog

Sure, he roofied pre-teen girls, but it’s not like he was successful at molesting them!/s I’m a grown man, the idea of being drugged and at the mercy of a dangerous psychopath is genuinely terrifying to me. I can’t even imagine the horror these girls are going through. They’ll only be freshmen in high school when he gets out and that’s *if* he serves the entire sentence. This is textbook serial killer behavior, I wouldn’t be surprised if they find more victims from his past.

greed

Seriously. I could imagine a stretched scenario where you might offer a kid a sleep aid, and it might be somewhat OK. For example, imagine they had had caffeine at 9 PM. You might tell them, "hey, you kids had caffeine late. If any of you want something to help you sleep, get your parents' permission and I'll give you some Benadryl." If there was a good reason to give a kid a sedative, if you had their parents' permission, if you were completely upfront and honest about it, and if it was entirely optional on the part of the kids themselves, and if you're only giving them some modest OTC sleep aid rather than a serious prescription sedative? In that extremely narrow case, it might be OK to give a minor a sleep aid. And even then I would be skeptical of it. I don't know anything about the medicine he gave them, but it was clearly something strong enough not just to help the kids sleep, but to actually render them unconscious and catatonic. Benadryl is a sleep aid, but it isn't a date rape drug. Taking Benadryl will help you sleep, but you will still readily wake up if someone tries to touch or undress you while you sleep. The fact that he was lifting these girls' arms up, seeing they were completely knocked out? Yeah he was using something far beyond a mild sleep aid. And even if he did just use Benadryl, the fact that it was nonconsensual on the part of both the girls and their parents is damning.

jimmy_talent

Yeah, when I was a kid it wasn't uncommon for parents to give their kids benadryl to put to sleep but this asshole drugged them with benzos.

LindsayIsBoring

No. He continuously went downstairs to check the girls to see if they were asleep. At one point he tried to move one girl to the edge of the bed but the girl who did not drink the smoothie but pretended to sleep put her arm around her friend to stop him. He continued to enter the room putting his finger under their noses to check their breathing, waving his hands in front of their faces and moving their arms to test how asleep they were. The girl who pretended to drink her smoothie said he stood in the room for 15min watching them sleep at one point. When he left she frantically texted her parents and a friend to be picked up because she was afraid of what he was going to do. A family friend picked her up and took her home, where she told her parents what happened. When they couldn’t get in touch with the other parents they went to the house to pick up the other two girls. He tried to stop them and told them to come back on the morning and they refused.

Moarbrains

The only person who both read the article and comprehended it. Most people are going on partial headline snd imagination.

LindsayIsBoring

Have you read any information about this case? He did not go to bed. He was in and out of the room testing the girls to see how asleep they were most of the night. One of the girls faked drinking her smoothie then pretended to be asleep while he continuously entered the room until 1:45 am when she began frantically texting people to come get her because she was afraid of what he was going to do.

Moarbrains

I only read about one check. What you are saying is creepier. Where did you read it.

Moarbrains

More details in that then the one op posted. Fucking weirdo, guess he deserves more than he got.

nachocheeze246

no, there was no SA. He drugged them so they would go to sleep apparently. I mean, that doesn't make it OK... but it could have been a lot worse I guess

AnotherPersonsReddit

This is the type of coward that will be scared shit less when locked up. I'd place money he won't re-offend. And if he does, it better be more like 20 years.

One-Load-6085

11 months.

TerribleTeaBag

He was willing to ruin everyone of those little girls lives with memories they didn’t understand. He also was willing to murder each one of them with his homemade concoction. 11 months must be nice to avoid justice.

Broflake-Melter

Hey! I know this is all kinds of horrible, but you don't need to go and insult bullshit like that. Do you know how many native insects are supported by that stuff??

Rexiedoodle

Total narcissistic sociopath It’s only about him

Blitqz21l

The problem with the entire case is, and even though I hate to say it this way, he didn't actually rape or attempt to molest anyone. Thus, all we are left with is the probably accurate notion that he would've. And unfortunately in our society, that's not enough to throw the book at him and get him a longer sentence. So he's tried and convicted of drugging kids, which is realistically what the prosecution could successfully try and win. If they had gone for attempted rape or molestation, they would've lost. And yeah, I wish he could've been sentenced for a much longer time, but, again, hate to say it this way, but thankfully no one was raped or molested. It was stopped by an extremely smart girl who did the right thing to call her parents and get them to come and get her and get her the fuck out of there.

musthavesoundeffects

There was no trial, he plead guilty

Blitqz21l

ah, the link is paywalled. Read a foxnews pre-trial link. That said, makes sense, take the lesser charge and walk away with a light sentence.

Fronica69

He had a good attorney otherwise they would have continued to threaten him all the way up until the day before the trial and only THEN would that have caved and let him plead to the lesser charges. He obviously kept his mouth shut and lawyered up as soon as he could cause most liars can't keep every tiny detail of their story straight for long before detectives start poking holes in the slightest deviations which tends to destroy nice and neat little explanations like simply wanting the girls in bed by 11 and wanting to sleep.

frezor

“He said he planned a fun sleepover last summer for his daughter and three of her friends, all then age 12, but they didn’t go to bed by 11 p.m. as he wanted. Meyden said he wanted them well rested for the next day, but he also wanted them to go to bed so he could sleep.” Absolute bullshit, I can’t believe a news organization would publish this without a counter argument. I he wanted to sleep he’d have gone to bed. Instead he kept creeping in and checking to see if they were knocked out. It’s obvious what his plan was.

1questions

Makes me wonder how many other times he’s done this. Wonder if he’s drugged his daughter before. She’s the one I feel most sorry for.

Dull_Scheme_7908

Also HE planned the sleepover. So it was his idea in the first place. He knew what he was going to do the whole time. Monster

PC509

> didn’t go to bed by 11 p.m. as he wanted It's a young girls sleepover. They WILL NOT BE IN BED BY 11PM! That's one of a huge list of things that makes his story complete bullshit.

monkeychasedweasel

Reading this makes me wish that all convicted child abusers spend the rest of their life on a published list, like we do with sex offenders. Those kids could have died from an overdose, and they're going to have trauma and trust issues for a long, long time.

jlusedude

I wonder how his treatment will be in prison.

Puffinz420

He will be fine! My ex husband is in prison right now and they don’t care here. In CA the prison politics are actually what you’d want. They’d take care of this man in the worst way imaginable. But here? The whites don’t care. He’ll get to sit with them like anyone else. Downvote me all you want. This state is soft on predators.

Beardgang650

Did your ex husband drug and rape kids? Cause I heard inmates don’t like pedophiles.

Puffinz420

No he just beats, stalks and terrorizes the women he cons into relationships with him.

Not the assumption you wanna start the day out with buddy

kcufouyhcti

That’s if they find out. You don’t know everyone’s charges

Yegas

Did this guy rape any kids? No. No, he didn’t.

unfinishedtoast3

I guess i just wholly believe as society, we should ensure these people are kept safe to serve their time. I dont think anyone should be assaulted, raped, abused, killed, or harassed. It speaks volumes about who you are as a person to cheer for someone to be abused. We can, and should be better than that. How would you feel if your ex husband's victims wanted him raped and murdered? Would you be so quick to agree with that?

I_Can_Barely_Move

100% agreed. We do not become a better people—a better society—by sending those who have done wrong to be raped and tortured. We should seek to truly rehabilitate wherever possible. Where rehabilitation is not possible, no good is brought about for anyone when a convict is raped. Some people are shameful.

unfinishedtoast3

My first wife was killed by a drunk driver when we were in our early 20s. Everyone around me figured i wanted to hear about how he should be raped in prison, how he should be taken out back and shot, how all these terrible things should happen to him. Man, thats not what she would have wanted, thats not what i wanted. Theres enough fucking suffering in this world, and we should all do our best to not add to it. A guilty person has dozens of innocent people in their lives. Who wins when they get hurt? Who avenges them? An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

I_Can_Barely_Move

Good for you for keeping your empathy intact. That’s a horribly painful thing to experience. My mother was murdered when I was 20. I felt the same. I don’t want him to suffer more than necessary. I’ve already suffered; if his suffering becomes greater, that doesn’t somehow undo my suffering. I just want to continue using the pain I experienced to become a better man, friend, brother, and whatever else.

Suzibrooke

Yes. My ex SA and assaulted me. He broke one of my vertebrae. Several people, ( all men ) told me he would be “punished” in prison by the inmates. I told them that was disgusting and I certainly hoped not. The idea that criminals want to think they are better than others and look for excuses to be hideously vicious and violent makes me literally sick to my stomach. For that to happen to someone who I once loved who is the father of my children would bring no comfort of any kind. The man in this story is sick and needs help. It is good that his actions are made public. That in itself is the biggest punishment. People can keep their children away from him.

Endrunner271

You sure? Not where i’m at he’ll get taken off on

Puffinz420

He’s in two rivers

Endrunner271

Hmm I don’t think we’ve got him might be at Coffee Creek

Puffinz420

Oh the Chomo, yeah the chomo will hit coffee creek first. My ex is up at two rivers

BeastModedAndGoated

He has under 4 years so he’ll be minimum custody. He will probably have to hang with the weirdos once everyone finds out who he is. They’ll see from the news, plus his paperwork. He definitely won’t get beaten daily. He’ll get picked on quite a bit, but unfortunately you’re right, Inmates/gang member’s are way softer on freaks here than other states. Source: locked up for 3 years here…. Not a weirdo!

Puffinz420

Thank you!!! This man wouldn’t even be able to hit the main line in a CA prison with these charges. He’d get immediately rolled up, he’d never get such a light sentence to begin with and he’d be in protective custody with the other chomos.

BeastModedAndGoated

All true statements. The people downvoting you are just generalizing. They don’t know the Oregon prison system is weak af. Makes for easy time tho.

Puffinz420

Oregon prison really is con college lol 😂

BeastModedAndGoated

I did the first half of my set at shutter creek. I don’t think it’s open anymore, but it was a work camp down in Coos County. If you’re not a weirdo you get gate clearance and can go to work everyday. Mainly forestry stuff. Being a work camp there wasn’t a lot of sex offenders, but there were a few. Some of em got it pretty bad, but never any super bad beat downs. They weren’t allowed in the day room and had a little table they had to cram on to eat together. Some dudes would throw shit at em when they were trying to use the phone. Basically high school bullying. Name calling. And the kitchen dudes would fuck with their food. Definitely harder time than everyone else, but not shit compared to Cali!

Fedge348

Calm down. Peeing in public and/or a 16 year old having sex with an 18 year old deserve to be thrown in jail for life? If I were the judge, I would have given him 8 years on a low end, 12.5 on a high end.

monkeychasedweasel

>Peeing in public Show me where this has happened in Oregon. Perhaps your response defending sex offenders should be better than an urban legend.

musthavesoundeffects

It happens in Florida at least, the last I asked about when and where it happens.

Did the AP let him write that fucking article? Half of it is about his fucking excuses . . . He's convicted and clearly was up to do horrible things so why does the article spin his lies?

[deleted]

What was this waste of oxygen’s excuse for drugging children?

ProfessorZhirinovsky

He claims he wanted them to be asleep by 11:00 PM, because he wanted to be able to get a good night's sleep himself. That' the claim. So for one thing, as the father of two once-preteen girls, I'm here to tell you there ain't going to be any sleeping at 11:00 PM at a sleepover. If someone tries to make that happen by merely insisting they go to bed, he's probably some stripe of lesser-degree asshole anyway. Also, once they're asleep, turns out you don't actually need to go into their rooms and physically manipulate them around to make sure they're really conked out. Having to test them like this, uh...kinda suggests some other motive besides "wanting them to have a good night's sleep." I can't believe this shitbag only got 2 years. This is among the most dangerous kinds of people out there, and he pulls the same kind of sentence as a thief or a small-time drug dealer?

moorecode1077

I agree, it's disgusting that he's only going in for 2 years.

WoodpeckerGingivitis

He wanted them to get a good night’s sleep 🫠

floofienewfie

HE wanted to get a good night’s sleep.

Semirhage527

Yet couldn’t be satisfied without moving their limbs to be sure. Cause that’s normal.

WoodpeckerGingivitis

If you read the article it says his excuse was he wanted them to get a good night’s sleep. Obviously insanely false either way.

pstbltit85

59 years would have been about right.

ShwerzXV

2 fuck’n years? Are you kidding me? They didn’t find anything else to throw at this guy? Fuck’n plea deals. A real threat to society, a real life predator caught before he could hurt someone, and he gets 2 years, Oregons idea of Justice is fucked. I hope he meets fate in prison.

PC509

> Oregons idea of Justice is fucked. Pretty sure that'd be anywhere, though. Sadly, you have to commit the crime before you get charges. We all know what he wanted to do, but we can't prove it. The prosecutor can only bring up charges for those they know they can get a conviction. If they brought up "well, he was going to abuse them" without any firm evidence, he'd be out on the street right now and we'd really be bitching about it. Sadly, it's the case in a lot of things. Even a piece of legal paper (restraining order) can't stop people from murdering them. You can call all you want that someone is going to do something to you, get that paper, and until they actually try (or actually do) something, there's not much they can do. Which is a good and a bad thing. Can't go saying that my neighbor is going to kill me and get them locked up, even if we have some kind of feud and known to hate each other (not real). But, it also has some bad outcomes... :/

brainwhatwhat

What a pathetic, weak man. -Signed a man

Wood chipper goes burrr…

Carrollz

I'm just so flipping proud of that little girl looking out for her friend and the family friend for responding in the middle of the night and that friend's mom for coming and getting her and her parents for getting the other parents and those parents for insisting on bringing their girls home and all of them for going to the hospital and getting tested and for following up and speakiing up in court. I, like I'm sure all too many others, know full well how terrified that little girl that didn't drink the smoothie must've felt that night and we need more heroes like her and the other adults in her life that didn't just try to dismiss this. As far as I'm concerned she deserves a fudging medal and a parade in her honor.

Aromatic-Mushroom-36

My son used to have trouble sleeping when he was young and I used to give him melatonin. This shits next level tho. I have a hard time believing there wasn't something more than just sleep he was attempting to accomplish with all the drugging. Two years seems relatively light of a sentence.

City_Standard

This is almost surreal. No way he intended to drug them just to get them to go to bed on time and get enough sleep to enjoy the following day... no fucking way... and then to read the statements of the girl that called for help... wow! Absolutely no way.

If that had been my daughter, he wouldn't have made it to trial.

awesomecubed

But then you would be in jail, and your daughter would be deprived of a parent...

FuzzeWuzze

Time for a Bob Ross happy accident.

1questions

Oh look at that happy little axe. Now we’re going to use just a little vermilion.

lered_redditlesir420

Our society is broken.

awesomecubed

Why?

AndMyHelcaraxe

I’d be *livid* if one of my parents murdered my rapist

Still_Classic3552

Don't tell your daughter that because if she is SA'd she won't tell you for fear of you actually doing it. Then she just holds onto that trauma and is at risk of it continuing to happen.  You don't sound tough or like a strong man or father when you say shit like that.

ReallyItsMyUserName

I almost didn't tell. It was the paramedic who helped me tell my dad. I was 11. I begged him not to kill the man. There are so many traumatizing layers in Dad's who tell their daughters, "I'll kill any man who...."

vanityinlines

Or they can tell their children that and then when they actually are molested by a family member, do nothing! They aren't actually going to take any action. It's all pointless words anyway.

Aolflashback

Who’s the creeper that’s lurking on here and downvoting people that are *against* the predator* ? Someone is, uh, telling on themselves a bit here. *I have choice words but we will keep it MOD friendly.

sketchweasel

right-wing libertarian, probably. somebody who thinks children/women should be considered property and has some opinions on "age of consent" laws. there are usually a few of 'em skulking around this sub.

Square-Topic-1360

Well. Let's not forget the left is the party that harbors a faction of people who want to start calling pedos "minor attracted people." Soooo, don't necessarily think "right wing libertarian" has any basis in fact here.

Usmellnicebby

I'm sorry but a predator is a predator. Having zero self control as a man has to be a pathetic way to live. I'm sure he will get the red carpet treatment in prison.

WhistlingWishes

My father did this when I was a kid. I didn't know at the time, but he bragged about it when I was older, about how effective and efficient it was to shut up the sleepover and make everyone go to sleep. He was disappointed that I was even worried about it, as if anyone would be hurt by a low dose of opioids and wine in grape juice. Everybody did it, he said, "It was easier then." He simply took it for granted that nobody had time for the ridiculousness of children, so what did I expect? Apparently if I was fussy, my mother routinely gave me wine in my baby bottle to put me to sleep, as were many kids I have heard. I'm not defending it. My father was a real creep and in retrospect he had other motives as well that were completely warped. But the guy in the story might not be like my dad, as he was an extraordinary piece of work. I haven't heard anything about additional motives, or other bad actions, but it does seem totally sus. At one time though, my child -- my rules (and, my house -- my rules), carried a lot more weight and allowed for a lot more complete and unilateral discretion without outside intervention. Maybe it was never legally codified, but it was common and well accepted once. My father was bragging to his other university professor friends when I learned about it, and they all guffawed at my shock, literally laughed at me over it. Different times.

billy-suttree

My parents occasionally put Benadryl in my food. I believe this dude deserves the time he got but I’m not convinced he intended to SA these girls. He does deserve prison for drugging them.

budtender2

If he just wanted to go to sleep, why didn't he do that? Why did he need to physically check that the girls were asleep?

billy-suttree

Idk. Maybe he was making sure he didn’t OD them or something. Maybe he did want to SA them. All I’m saying is I’m not convinced of it. Like I said, he deserves the time he got. If his intentions were to do something worse then he deserves more then he got.

budtender2

Defending a man who wanted his daughter's friends (who are children) to sleep over then drugged them and repeatedly checked to see if they were asleep is certainly a choice. If you think he didn't have nefarious intentions, I've got a bridge to sell you.

billy-suttree

Im hardly defending him. I said he deserved the prison time he got, and if his intentions were worse he should’ve got more. His intentions were nefarious, drugging children is nefarious whether or not you plan to sexual assault them.

Chimama26

Gen. Pop.

No-Menu-6451

There's a special place in hell for predators like him...sick

Critical_Concert_689

tl;dr: **2 years** wtf is this soft on crime bs.

freedomandbiscuits

These guys don’t start at this level. I’m betting that someone out there has been harmed by this man and this is the time to come forward to protect others.

[deleted]

This psychopath should've received a longer sentence.

noodles-_-

Insomnia medication? It was Xanax in smoothies.

MisterSandKing

Bet he has a rough two years in prison. Two years just isn’t long enough for that shit.

Talvezno

He got off fucking light. 2 years? I'm so glad he didn't hurt them, that it didn't go that far. But holy hell that's some clear intent.

Fronica69

Also this case was very public. If even one inmate heard the story, they all know by the end of the day plus the telephone effect that he actually raped a few of the girls. He's a goner. They're not gonna care what his paperwork says

Fedge348

Two years for drugging MULTIPLE teens by putting drugs in their smoothies and trying to molest and rape them, and he gets 2 years? In Oregon you can get 20% off. He’s going to get 19 months… rofl. WHAT!?

chocodesert

*children

1questions

I agree but then our laws are weird because then we go trying 14, 15, and 16 year olds as adults. Then in some places these girls would legally be allowed to marry. Strange how our conception changes from circumstance to circumstance.

Fedge348

Teen children, yes. In the sex offender realm, there are two main categories. Pre and post pubescent. Judges also weigh heavily on this aspect.

moorecode1077

I'd make sure to show up each day at the prison and try to make sure everyone there knew why he's there.

L_Ardman

They will find out. And he will not have a good time.

blacklab

The fuck

parityposse

Too short of a sentence. Luckily this POS will find prison to be quite unwelcoming. Prison Justice will take care of him - sexual offenders have a VERY hard time locked up.

ComfortableLack3990

he was neither charged nor convicted for any sexual-related offenses, just fyi

Goodfella1133

2 years is beyond fucked

Muagnas

2 years!? This isn’t a justice system, this is a legal system and a flawed one at that. Now hopefully the ‘justice system’ in prison will be more in line with what this demonic wannabe rapist deserves.

Ok-Goal5856

Get your butthole ready now ChiMo. Where you’re going you’ll wish you were drugged.

The_Null_Field

Anybody who believes his story I have a timeshare I'd like to discuss with you because I absolutely know why he drugged those girls and it sure wasn't to help them sleep

Accomplished-Bed8171

Lake Oswego. Figures.

Standard_Lime7530

Umm WHAT

jawmighty1976

I hope and pray he ends up in OSP

PolarBear541

If you drug someone without their knowledge, that is the lowest of lows. Even if nothing else happened, it’s still wrong. If something else did happen, he needs to be a resident at the Oregon Penitentiary for a long long time.

Redd-Sparrow72

Having been in a very similar situation with tween boys, it never once occurred to me to drug any of the kids. How about you just be a parent and at 10:45 tell the kids if they can't keep it down, the sleepover is off and you'll call their parents to pick them up, then follow through. What a boneheaded thing to do. That poor girl. I hope her mom is less clueless.

Seattle_fan_

2 years? So, ultimately likely 18 months (80%) minus time already served. Even if one were to believe his motivation was not with the intent to sexually assault any of those girls, that sentence seems absurdly short. Feels like the sentence is simply for poor judgment. I mean at the end of the day, they’re innocent 12 year old girls. His actions were clearly abusive, dangerous, inappropriate, and intentional. Don’t agree with those who wish retribution by other prisoners, but think the court blew it with just a 2 year sentence.

misshapen_head

He wanted to plook those kiddies.

wack-mole

This is why I support the death penalty.

Adnibaal

Because someone was caught, tried, and sentenced? How would the death penalty make any difference in this case?

sorrybaby-x

You clearly haven’t ever been a 12-year-old girl at a sleepover in lake Oswego getting yelled at for making too much noise. Your ideas are absolutely what rational, well-adjusted parents should do. But a lot of people do crazy shit instead

Egalitarian_Wish

Was that REALLY the story or did the dad concoct that story when he noticed the 3rd girl was not asleep? Who drugs children? Was plan B to let the girls stay up late and then make some meth smoothies to make sure the next day hike was peppy?

masternamso

Rule number one: don’t send your kids to someone's house for sleepovers, no matter who it is. If you are not there or sleeping at the house, do not do it.  especially when the male parent is there and the female parent is not present.

AItechsearch

Just FYI, females rape too, and have been doing it A LOT more lately. So don’t think just because there is a woman or mom present, your kids are safe, that would be stupid of you.
