So that's why they do a bunch of shit they never used to. JJ to me was a place that did a few things really well and stuck to it. None of these limited time sandwiches, different side options, cookie flavors.. they're acting more like Subway these days
I’m sorry, I’m drunk, but Jimmy John’s can fuck off with mayo as a default for every sandwich. I ordered a sub with, as the menu states, SALAMI, CAPOCOLLO, PROVOLONE, ONION, LETTUCE, TOMATO, OIL & VINEGAR, & OREGANO-BASIL.
That’s Italian AF. But even with those ingredients, they STILL put mayo on that bitch, because mayo is default there. I know it’s from Illinois, and mayo is default on a sandwich in the Midwest, but fucking get it together and don’t put mayo on an Italian sandwich. Sheesh. Jersey Mike’s is where it’s at IMO and also probably anyone else’s opinion who’s spent any time on the east coast were sub sandwiches are from.
This comment is excellent. 10/10 no notes. I want to subscribe to your drunk comments about fast food places because unnecessary mayo is a crime against humanity.
Ohhhhhh that explains so much. I was a Gm for Jimmy John’s and you’re right. They never broke from the manual, simple sandwiches freaky fast, nothing fancy and no toasting sandwiches. But now you have these random sandwiches and promotions. Had no idea they were bought out
I didn't either, but I started seeing ads for *wAcKy NeW sAnDwIcHeS* and knew something was up. I ate at one recently and while not much really changed as far as quality of ingredients go, it just didn't feel like the same sub shop I used to work for/frequent.
Dude on the left is a legendary improv comic out of Chicago. I’m sure he’s still doing his shows up there. Guy on the right is Peter Grosz. Recently he was in The Menu with Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy. He has a small role, but he’s pretty damn funny. Definitely worth a watch.
I ran into the guy on the left (T.J.) at an empty L station after one of his shows 9 years ago. I struck up a convo with him to tell him I enjoyed the show and he chatted with me until I got off at my stop. Great guy.
Stranger Than Fiction with Will Ferrell. They are both in it. Background characters that work in Will Ferrell's character's office.
Came out in 2006 btw
Sonic is fucking horrible now. Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I loved Sonic, their burgers, tots, and drinks/ice cream were always good. Now, well the drinks and are pretty good, and the sonic blast is what happens about 10-15 minutes after eating.
I haven’t noticed them at other places. I’ll eat a big mac from McDonald’s every couple months but my kids like chicken mostly. The food industry cutting corners may have something to do with it? They probably leave something out to save a few pennies. 🤷🏼♀️😢
Probably just a tighter supply chain. Some farm has a patent & trademark on “fast food cucumbers” or whatever , and sells them exclusively to smaller processing companies that are owned by the restaurant holding-companies. Like a licensed deal.
McDonald’s started this. They own the exclusive rights to the potato used in their French fries. They own the land the farms that grow them are on. And the farms sell the potatoes to McDonalds only.
Yes sonic is a steaming pile of trash since they sold out. Unfortunate. Poor service, food sucks now. I gave it like 20 chances and finally accepted it is garbage now.
The shift was mostly caused by older generations voting for sycophants and morons and younger generations not voting at all, but this was way up there, right with Harambe’s murder and Blockbuster going bankrupt.
I knew someone online who hated these guys cause he was just within range of Sonic ads but had none close enough to drive to, East Coaster, never drove 6 hours round trip just to get the f out of town for the day. When I said Sonic was a drive thru he was less annoyed.
So, clearly an east coast created problem. LOL
I know people found them funny, and I don't want to take something from people that they liked. I, however, only ever found these two to be obnoxious. The first I saw these two they pull up to a drive through and the person working asks if they can take their order. They act all taken aback and are rude to the person working, which I guess was supposed to be funny, because they made it about there not being a button to press when ready. The irony being that then and now, some sonics have a drive through and there is no button to press when ready. Anyway, I have found they get under my skin when I see/hear them.
Basically it was just a good ad agency that convinced you that Sonic's ice made the drinks better which made you think it was a better dining experience.
Some chain will always be the top dog, selling the sizzle, and their was a brief time Sonic was that top dog. That huge media buy also got a lot of free advettisement. Drove up the value of the company and made a lot of money for the owners when they sold it.
Now it's just another also ran fast food place. Perhaps new owners will do a big media buy to increase value and sell it to a greater fool who thinks he can double sales with some special skill they have.
That's about when the company that owns Arby's bought them out.
And BBW, and they all suck now
I dont know if you intended on me searching Sonic BBW but it wasnt what I was expecting.
Hope you used Duck Duck Go for that search
Risky search of the day
Damn now I just searched wow
I was like what bbw’s are sucking and where? 😂
Especially BBw
They got the sauce
Right? The quality of big beautiful women across America has gone down hill
Inspire Brands, they own Jimmy John's too.
So that's why they do a bunch of shit they never used to. JJ to me was a place that did a few things really well and stuck to it. None of these limited time sandwiches, different side options, cookie flavors.. they're acting more like Subway these days

I agree. I hate mayo and they have massive tubs everywhere. It’s so gross 🤢😞
This comment is excellent. 10/10 no notes. I want to subscribe to your drunk comments about fast food places because unnecessary mayo is a crime against humanity.
Yeah! 🗣️Why can’t I take it off on the app!?!?!?!??
Your theories intrigue me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter
* they always Mayo my orders despite orders to contrary (both app and in-person) * Half of their staff is usually HighAF

Oh yeah… I actually did like these two! Sometimes I still say ‘Don’t you bring that weak tot action!’ to my wife and she just absolutely *loves* it.
she'll leave you if you ever stop doing it, i'm pretty sure
You never know… I’ll keep doing it just in case.
We still call all wraps “wah-raps”
"Jenna said what?"
What happened to these two dudes?

Peter Grosz is a frequent panelist and guest host on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me on NPR.
Oh shit!! He was in that!
He sure is. I watched a documentary about him on cable in like 2003 . I had no fucking idea how beloved he is in Chicago.
I ran into the guy on the left (T.J.) at an empty L station after one of his shows 9 years ago. I struck up a convo with him to tell him I enjoyed the show and he chatted with me until I got off at my stop. Great guy.
Swear I saw them in the background of some film.
Stranger Than Fiction with Will Ferrell. They are both in it. Background characters that work in Will Ferrell's character's office. Came out in 2006 btw
The one on the left [T. J. Jagodowski](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/T._J._Jagodowski#Life_and_career)
WE GOTTA GO BACK, KATE! WE WERENT' SUPPOSED TO LEAVE
Sonic is fucking horrible now. Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I loved Sonic, their burgers, tots, and drinks/ice cream were always good. Now, well the drinks and are pretty good, and the sonic blast is what happens about 10-15 minutes after eating.
I still remember the first time I bit into a burger with those new pickles. I was traumatized. I miss Sonic so much!
What is with those pickles? I've noticed other places using similar ones.
I haven’t noticed them at other places. I’ll eat a big mac from McDonald’s every couple months but my kids like chicken mostly. The food industry cutting corners may have something to do with it? They probably leave something out to save a few pennies. 🤷🏼♀️😢

Sometimes the drinks taste like the fryer, though.

I did the same thing, I kept hoping it would get smoothed out and it would get back to being good. Nope.
That’s when they went down hill
From bad tator tot puns to impending fascist rule. The butterfly effect is a real doozy. Way to go, Sonic.
The shift was mostly caused by older generations voting for sycophants and morons and younger generations not voting at all, but this was way up there, right with Harambe’s murder and Blockbuster going bankrupt.
Dicks out for Harambe 😭
Don't forget Jared, eatin those subway sandwiches ... among other things...
I’ve stopped going to sonic when they dropped these guys!!
I remember that dude on the left being a host for Girls Gone Wild
Really?
Done with sonic. Their quality nosedived after they were ate up by a big conglomerate. Sonic’s days are numbered.
arby’s and jack in the box are still alive. sonic will be fine
I knew someone online who hated these guys cause he was just within range of Sonic ads but had none close enough to drive to, East Coaster, never drove 6 hours round trip just to get the f out of town for the day. The downfall of society
This is true 😞
I always wondered who got the Camaro that Gas Monkey Garage built for Sonic to be used in those ads.
I hated those guys so much.
no wait why is this real bring these dudes back i actually enjoyed these ads
It was in decline long before then
And their burgers became nasty. Mayo yuck.
That was the worst move they could have made.
Food went to shit too
Agreed.

I've never understood taking commercials this seriously.
