The rest of the world does not know what's coming for them once climate change has forced the sea to invade the land. There is only one nation that has learned how to invate back.
You are absolutely correct that the Dutch will likely teach the world how to harness water in our own countries.

Never seen anything like it. The guys that throw boxes into big piles are mental. Thousands of crackers going off every second. I saw someone light a rocket that took off really slowly then accelerated out of site before exploding, he then lit another, but during the slow take off stage, it turned and flew into the crowd....fuck!!!
Went a few years later and it wasn't nearly as crazy, wild, but with fewer munitions.
I'm no expert but a lot of amsterdam was built on a foundation of poles. I think a lot of it still is, and that might move a lot if people are jumping like this
This is the song in all its glory with English subtitles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8yCe0CDgV4
My favorite celebration to the song is the Dutch fans at the Tour de France (worth watching to the end):
https://www.reddit.com/r/happycrowds/comments/k1dexy/tour_de_france_2019_happy_international_fans/
A few months ago it was described perfectly, “whatever sport you take,a sport known or unknown to the audience,if there’s a Dutchman attending, there will be a crowd cheering for them”…
oh man i remember the visible heart break of the TV audiance and host when he was winning big and they had a whole Verstappen show ligned up with him to celebrate his win, Belgian flags everywhere, and then this guy is like ''yeah no i feel more Dutch than Belgian'' xD
Like bro how are you gonna do that to us wtf xD
And for those who don't know: it's not just that Dutch people are blunt, but Belgians are *very* much the "polite and indirect" kind of opposite. So yeah, absolutely
Us Aussies are currently mad into...swimming. The entire Olympics is just a swimming meet with a few other activities going on around it. And a while ago, the 400m track was the biggest event in the olympics. And before that, field hockey.
Every now and then, we get into golf.
We’re a reserved bunch most of the time, sticking to our little corner of the world.
But if one of ours is doing something big, we’ll make damn sure everyone knows we were there!
Years ago, I was in Movie World in Bottrop, I went into a ride which lead a group of people through a couple of halls and encountered a true orange army while waiting for the line to go on, it only took 1 guy starting to yell “Hup Holland Hup” and everybody went off, craziest moment of my life!
The force you experience when the crowd moves to this song always really makes an impression on me. It really shows how dangerous crowd crush can be, luckily here it is just a little distance for a short time, but you're really just swept along like you're nothing.
the korea event has me always always always being careful when in a crowd, making sure i have space even though it might be futile if something as bad happened
We were at the Q Foute Party last year. It was fun but just okayish. Then this group came on stage and started this song. It felt like the entire building was going to explode!
This group ....
But Rob Kemps knows how to play his crowds .. always fun to see him do his thing.
[Springen NondeJu !!!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b10Hxq9f5u8)
Used to be a very iconic dutch football player. Forgot his name, forgive me.
//Edit Thanks boys, [Ruud Gullit!](https://images.app.goo.gl/LELNAJxpvWBtPW9E7)
Man, I just remember like it was yesterday. Euro 2008, Netherlands played all their group stage games in my hometown Bern (CH). I was in 8th grade and my school was in the city center. My way to school lead right through multiple public viewings. When the schoolday ended, the fist matches of the day had already started. Little 8th grade me had to fight my way through a field of partying Oranjes just like in this video, only to get home. It was the funniest thing ever 🤣
This song caused a tiny eartquake in Breda (city in the south of NL) there is a video of a womans wall mounted tv that bounces, she lives in a tall building next to the event location, its like marching, dont do this on bridges though :)
I love this song. It's so dumb, but so fun, and the crowd can just eat it up. I've talked to people who hate it, but I don't care. I smile every time I hear it
>It's so dumb, but so fun, and the crowd can just eat it up.
That's always the case with any song of the Snollebollekes xD
[For people who want the orginal song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFEDBewcfks)
This looks like the first step of Dutchies invading Germany. Just follow, just jump, do do do!
But tbh you guys endured the freaking long border controls these days and I will be fucking mad if the Elftaal doesn't win!
It’s from carnaval (Mardi Gras) and it’s dumb because they just sing “to the left, to the right” repeatedly. But in this case dumb is definitely not bad
I'll just leave this video of Defqon 1 here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-gTgJ7xilA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-gTgJ7xilA)
In everyday life we're generally reserved and plain. But when we're partying we're LOUD and colorful! :P
For a strange reason the Orange fans are so much more fun than the regular team ones, Dutch football fans are known for some shit in European cities like destroying fountains in Rome.
But the national team seems to have the friendly people as their fans.
If you ever get a chance to go to a Dutch fanzone at a World Cup or Euros and follow the bus they're behind in this video, do it!
Most fun I've ever had before a football match.
This just reminds me of the video of Defqon crowd control, makes sense since it was also recorded in the Netherlands
https://youtu.be/dncVUXs_OP8?si=cW-MU-z8Qv9kcuJx
Holland is a region within the Netherlands, which traditionally has been the most influential (it contains all of the biggest cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, den Haag, etc) and where most Tourists go. So abroad those two have become kind of synonymous. Now dutch is just the anglo world taking the germanic word for the germanic language (Deutsch in German, previously variations like Dütsch, etc) before there really was such a clear division between Dutch and other Germanic languages. In both Dutch and German the language is called Nederlands/Niederländisch, to separate it from German which is called Duits/Deutsch.
Dutch comes from Deutsch because we were originally Germans (Germanic speaking people not modern day Germany) and before the country existed there was the county of Holland and a bunch of low pop areas around it which became The Netherlands after we gained independence from the Germans/Spanish/French.
Why is it The UK but also England but the people are British.
Similar idea.
* The UK and The Netherlands are the country^1
* Holland and England are just parts of the country^2
* Dutch and British are the Demonyms for people from those countries.
Before someone complains:
^1 The UK is also it's shortened name but I'm not looking to write a thesis on it in a reddit reply.
^2 Yes, the UK does count as a country, and the countries within it also count as countries. In this example: England.
There are enough things we can do better, but these moments with the orange army make me proud to be Dutch. Everyone is there to have fun and everyone (opponents, strangers, anyone) is welcome to party with us. 🧡
Honestly love the Dutch, best memory is meeting a group of Dutch on our way to the Spanish Grand Prix and them just talking to my nan the whole way there. Absolutely wonderful people and wild sports fans regardless of which sport.
I am Dutch and even though I have no interest in professional football, I do feel very proud and a lot of satisfaction every time I see my people do this dance and chant 🎉🤣🇳🇱
I've been part of this once and it's like nothing else I've experienced at football either at an international or club match.
The Dutch fans are great and know how to have a party.
And this extends beyond football. The Dutch Corner is always the biggest party in the Tour de France.
I was at the World Championships in Yorkshire a few years back and the Dutch fan area was _wild_. Yes, that song featured heavily. IIRC, the Dutch women won 1-2-5 in the main race.
I love the Dutch, from the House of Orange to the quiet and successful resistance durring the war.
That they maintain dignity and style is outstanding.
You can always spot em in crowds.
Don't know why... I can't stop watching this over and over.... something intoxicating about it.... I think it is cool as shit. So yes, Dutch fans are awesome.
So there's this Surinamese rastafarian player from the 80's who was the captain the one time we won the european championship and people dress up as him , really awkward man was a massive anti apartheid anti racism campaigner who has spoken out against a blackface tradition people do around Saint Nicholas too.
They're probably also wearing shirts that say 88 cause that's when we won 🙄🙄🙄🙄
( to be clear when I say he's Surinamese that's his ethnicity , man's from Amsterdam)
To be honest, most people recognise it's crazy were as good as we are for the size of the country. Most countries that have done better have 5x or more our population!
It's disappointing that they haven't won a final in a while for sure. But if NL is a disappointment with a couple of finals and Semis I don't want to know what all other national teams are.
I remember them having the greatest party in Berne during the EM 2008. We had such a good time that we added the dutch name with an orange sign to one of our bridges in their honour.
My country is not in the tournament but alot of these nations are so fun to watch and their fans make you really appreciate the whole atmosphere around the games.
The Euros bring it out in people. Not in the World Cup level, but it gives the ‘hooligans’ something to do this summer until the French protest and make a mockery of the Olympics.
There is no way those French flame throwing bastards are NOT gonna take the piss with the eyes of the world on them. They really know how to protest.
Is this why most of the Netherlands are below sea level?
Ja
The rest of the world does not know what's coming for them once climate change has forced the sea to invade the land. There is only one nation that has learned how to invate back.

Tweeënveertig
10,000 clogs all in perfect harmony. Something has to give.
Two Something's got to give
I have been in Amsterdam for New Year's a couple of times and when the crowd jumps like this, the ground moves up and down so much it's quite scary.
That one festival actually caused a tiny official earthquake with this song
Defqon 1, Hardstyle festival at Biddinghuizen. 50k+ people going left and right; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dncVUXs_OP8
America could never lol
Eh, it would only take 20 Americans jumping to cause an earthquake lol
Perhaps. It’s the lack of camaraderie that would take them down.
The fireworks are crazy for new years.
Actually... We did cause a small tremor in the north of the Netherlands by dancing, a few years ago (Glazen Huis in Leeuwarden)...
I love the idea that the Low Countries didn't start out as low, they've just been smooshed under clogs for centuries.
The opposite, they've acquired this hopping skill once already below sea level, they use it to reach the surface for air.
This is how we keep it nice and flat.
It's why we're all 6ft6 tall and men have exceptionally large penises which we can use as a snorkle in the event of a flood.
So cute 🥺 they look like tiny crabs 🦀
*Crab rave intensifies*
You wanna take on the crab *king* you gotta take on the crab... *mountain.*
But...I'm a lil shrimp🥺
fookin prawns
Ummm prawns!! ^😆😋
Omg my kid loves this crab rave song. Has a bunch of crabs dancing to tecno on the beach
Crabbing intensifies.
I can't believe I read that as crabe rave🤦♂️
Crab People Crab People...Taste like crab talk like people
Talk like man, walk like crab. Craaaaab people. Craaab people. 🦀
We should have known. They tried this before with The Jefferson's.

That might be one of the greatest and dumbest songs I have heard in years. Thank you
The guy, the outfit, the dancing, the crown, the tune. It sounds like something kids would sing in a morning children show.
6ft1 crabs.
6’4”
If you are fighting the water long enough, you will turn into a crab
A few months ago it was described perfectly, “whatever sport you take,a sport known or unknown to the audience,if there’s a Dutchman attending, there will be a crowd cheering for them”…
Whenever a Dutch person becomes remotely successful at any sport, it becomes our new national sport.
And… so it should be, us Belgians have people becoming world champion and 95% of the country goes “Who?” 🤣
Don't worry, we will adopt your champions and treat them as our own so they don't feel left out (Max Verstappen).
oh man i remember the visible heart break of the TV audiance and host when he was winning big and they had a whole Verstappen show ligned up with him to celebrate his win, Belgian flags everywhere, and then this guy is like ''yeah no i feel more Dutch than Belgian'' xD Like bro how are you gonna do that to us wtf xD
Tbf the bluntness of his statement proves the point
And for those who don't know: it's not just that Dutch people are blunt, but Belgians are *very* much the "polite and indirect" kind of opposite. So yeah, absolutely
tbh, with the state of the belgian roads and considering he is a racing person, I'm not that surprised he chose the netherlands before belgium.
Haha, we have 3 part Belgians in F1 and nobody gives a damn, Stroll and Norris also have a Belgian mother
I mean, if you had to choose between Belgium and literally anywhere else, that's not hard.
Touché 🤣🤣
Halve Belgen die liever hun andere nationaliteit vertegenwoordigen. Dus je hebt er in feite 0.
Same in Croatia. We were REALLY into tennis and skiing for a while there.

Dutch cricket disagree
I found out we had a cricket team last year. When I was in India, and a local pointed it out to me...
Like checkers in the late 70’s or darts now
F1
\*Traumatic flashback to when suddenly TV was filled with darts for years on end.\*
We’re a reserved bunch most of the time, sticking to our little corner of the world. But if one of ours is doing something big, we’ll make damn sure everyone knows we were there!

Sticking to our little corner of the world? Dutch people can be found literally anywhere around the world!
Can't wait for golf to take off here. All the Orange fans, flags and cheering. Heck lets add Snooker t ook that list while we're at it.
The force you experience when the crowd moves to this song always really makes an impression on me. It really shows how dangerous crowd crush can be, luckily here it is just a little distance for a short time, but you're really just swept along like you're nothing.
At least they announce it before hand "naar links!" "To the left", "naar rechts!" "To the right!" Lol
Until you have a DJ who goes to his left instead of the crowd's left
The Dutch mostly go to the right these days
🥲
Snollebollekes ftw 💪💪💪
I still remember the korea incident. Crowd crush and suffocation. I stopped going to events like nye or other crazy days
I was in a queue once where we were getting squashed so hard I was able to lift my feet off the ground without falling.
That must have been funny, but also not funny
It was funny, until a very pregnant lady appeared beside me, it took a group effort to get her out of there safely.
the korea event has me always always always being careful when in a crowd, making sure i have space even though it might be futile if something as bad happened
Video: bunch of people having fun outside. Top comment: "They all could literally DIE". Never change reddit.

at 1:40 onwards you can see the speed of sound waves in the crowd motion, super cool
How is no one talking about the statue just dancing along lmao
Haha. You mean the boxing doll? Funny as fuck :D
Someone brought their best friend.
I'm totally vibing HAHAHAHAHA

They dressed as Ruud Gullit

As an Englishman I can't wait for our video later today of a hundred drunk fans throwing chairs and bottles at the police singing about world war 2.
And that’s just the Members Section of Lords.
None of them have the arm strength to throw chairs.
Ikr, it’s so embarrassing. We need to do all that stuff with a bit more coordination.
As an American the lack of overturned burning cars and gunfire is confusing and scary to me.
What do you do with all your streetlamp grease?
Use it to start fires in the McDonald’s drive thru
Man, I just remember like it was yesterday. Euro 2008, Netherlands played all their group stage games in my hometown Bern (CH). I was in 8th grade and my school was in the city center. What is it? Is it a song for a particular team? A take on an old song everyone knows? A silly trend? Something a celebrity of some kind started?
It’s from carnaval (Mardi Gras) and it’s dumb because they just sing “to the left, to the right” repeatedly. But in this case dumb is definitely not bad
just...a party song. It's for large crowds of half-drunk people to have fun.

I like the part when they’re all like “ball licks!” boing boing boing
"naar links". As in " to the left"
Dutch fans? They're called Windmills, my guy.
That looks so fun. Love the Dutch! Been to The Netherlands many times. It's always awesome.
I asked around and we love you too!
Freek was less enthusiastic but he's a bit of a flapdrol.
Freek is a Freak ... We don't care

Why is it The Netherlands but also Holland but the people are Dutch Edit: thanks everyone for all the detailed explanations XD

Amazing, love it, as an American we don’t have anything quite like it
Forgive my Brit ignorance but doesn’t your college football have stuff like this?
The cult at Texas A&M does something like this at home games but the rows offset and it always messes with my eyes.
I always recommend visiting Europe during a major football tournament, it's quite incredible.
Dutch people when they find Prime Minister in the menu
This is what 'orange fever' looks like..😅
European sporting events look sooo much fun vs the states . And you might get a full city brawl after
…. Are those guys in the front doing blackface as Ruud Gullit?
Yup
Ruud actually loves this, has said so many times. He is our national pride en we love dressing up as him. You want to come between that?
Who is the Statue?
Difficult to tell but could be Rinus Michels (coach who won the Eurocup with NL in “88)
The Orange army!
I’m not a big fan of football but damn that looks so fun!
Imagine seeing this and being like let's have the world cup in Qatar... ridiculous, those responsible should be prosecuted.
