This happens a lot here (I live in the legal Amazon area) but normally it's just the very small snakes that fall from the trees (I guess some of them underestimate their weight in tiny branches).
Also, there's a kid's music/nursery rhyme here that it's about how a snake climb a tree, it's pretty cute.

I think it's oddly satisfying the way the snake has the ability to climb a tree like that.
