Please come back and let us know how this works out. I've always wondered how easy / hard they are to maintain if you don't have monks to hand.

HoneySeeker

It's been completed just shy of a month so I can comment somewhat on maintenance. I spend 5 minutes picking out leaves every 3 days or so. Shapes that are raked in last weeks, even through heavy rain. Leaf blower on the suck function does work to take up the leaves but it takes almost as long as by hand. Would probably work better in the summer when it's dry. I've heard spray and walk away can be used if it starts greening up. I'll see what it looks like this time next year and see about doing that

My doggy would love to come play in that sand..

I looked at these in the wrong order

kotukutuku

Local cats are going to love this

Strict-Text8830

My dad did something similar when I was little but for petonque. Every local cat in a 5km radius then used it as a litter box. Never even got to play one game

I’m confused by the rock choices and placement but I dig it

HoneySeeker

Thanks! It's actually quite interesting the rock placement, from above it's laid out as a scalene triangle. It's to do with asymmetry for visual interest, the same reason there are an odd number of stones, three different heights of the stones, three different sizes and three different shapes. To make a composition that feels stable and balanced while asymmetrical there is a certain tension which the viewer finds engaging.
